[ARG] The Blackbeard Connection (DUTCH!!!)

This game is for people from Holland (or at the very least those who can understand the Dutch language):

The Blackbeard Connection.

The purpose seems to be to locate Blackbeard's treasure, burried somewhere in the Netherlands. It uses the internet, SMS, and even television...

The game lasts 30 days, and today is the first day...

I hope someone here reports back and gives us a review. The second one looks less high tech, but might still be interesting.

The 'real-life' Quadrancy (a GB-based club of treasure-hunters) went public because of the Blackbeard Connetion game:

Click here to read about it on their Blog. Laughing

Some other text in English:

Quote:
The Blackbeard Connection. An interactive multichannel game
The Blackbeard Connection is an interactive multichannel game with a historic background. It is based on Blackbeard who over the last three centuries became known as one of the worlds most feared pirates. The game uses mobile communication, internet, printed matter and television. The Blackbeard Connection is a mobile search for the treasures of Blackbeard. Players have 30 days to find the treasures of Blackbeard on a location in The Netherlands.

NLXL got involved in an early stage with The Blackbeard Connection and is responsible for all the visual designs. Centre of the game is an extensive web site. Next to that the studio also made a cinema trailer, posters, cards and other printed matter for this game.

As for the game: Every morning the players get an Email from Gaia (a girl the players are helping). They also get several SMS-messages a day on their mobile phone, one of which is a question. The answer to that question can be found in the online diary of Gaia, newspaper articles, online, or in short movies (viewable on television or online). The player sends his answer back (by SMS), and if correct receives another SMS from Gaia.
In the evening (when the answer to the SMS-question was correct), players can view a 'riddle' online, concisting of a picture, a movie, and/or a sound clip. The answer to that riddle is a single word, and all words put together (and put in the right order) form another hint to the location of the treasure.

An example of an SMS-question: On day one, Gaia receives a phonecall from a Dr. Alektos, who tells her that he knows wat happened to her father. She doesn't trust Alektos, so she asks the player from which city the call came from (several options are given). The answer can be found in a movie (Gaia receiving the call) and in her diary.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the movie-clip, Gaia receives the phonecall. After the call one can see her alarm-clock; shortly after 04:00 hour clock. In her diary she mentiones the phonecall, and that she could hear a churchbell ring 3 'o clock. So, the city Alektos called from is in a time-zone which differs one hour from the Netherlands...

In the movie-clip, one can see the URL of the site Gaia visits when browsing the web. It also displays the phone number of Dr. Alektos. The URL is that of a website from Utrecht University, and Alektos is listed as a history professor who's hobby is.... online gaming! Nice joke from the designers of the game... Smile The phone-number is real too (voicemail of Alektos). Cool
