OK, for Saturday, I managed to catch a few quick references to people wanting to go to The Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday, during the day.

I will make a wiki page, with all relevant info.

For anyone else traveling on Southwest tomorrow, you can check in online 24 hours before your flight and print your boarding pass. This gets you in the best available seating group, so you can get a better seat on the plane.

Because I am not a Wiki Goddess (at least, I wasn't before today), I had had NO CLUE that spammers were causing trouble over at the wiki!

I'd like to thank those of you who took the time and energy to revert pages and delete the annoyances.

I have gone in and retained my sysop privs, and blocked the offending IP ... JUST IN TIME FOR ARGFEST!!!! Rock!!!

BTW, it's TOTALLY raining today, and is just now clearing up. I may step outside a bit later on my afternoon break to see how the humidity is affecting things. Forecast is a bit cloudy, still, but looks good, temperature-wise.

If no one has any definite plans for Sunday (since my plane doesn't leave until 10p and my "local" cousins are out of town on some crazy bike ride to Iowa), I was thinking of getting myself down (up) to the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Any local residents know the best way to travel between the hotel & the zoo, and then back?

If no one else has anything to do Sunday, I'm planning on heading out to see the Chicago Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium, as well as the planetarium(time permitting) before my train leaves at 6.

Anyone is welcome to join me, if they so choose, though I'm planning on hitting the tutankhamen exhibit at the field museum, and that's a chunk of change extra to see.

I went to transitchicago.com's trip planner, and they suggested:
(Always make sure to put in the correct day and approx. time of your trip, because certain lines run differently depending on what you select)

Take CTA BLUE LINE TRAIN (TO FOREST PARK)
Depart: O'HARE CTA At 11:07 AM
Arrive: BELMONT CTA At 11:30 AM
Transfer
Take CTA BUS # 77 BELMONT EASTBOUND
Depart: BELMONT CTA EB BUS STOP At 11:36 AM
Arrive: BELMONT & ASHLAND/LINCOLN At 11:45 AM
Transfer
Take CTA BUS # 11 LINCOLN SOUTHBOUND
Depart: BELMONT & ASHLAND/LINCOLN At 11:50 AM
Arrive: WEBSTER & LARRABEE/GENEVA/LINCOLN At 11:58 AM
Walk 0.4 mile E to LINCOLN PARK ZOO MAIN GATE

(I just plugged in O'Hare, but just know you'd be hopping on a couple stops into the trip from O'Hare)

However, I happen to know that a few buses do stop right at the Lincoln Park Zoo Main Gate, like the 134, the 156, and the 151. However, those might all be rush hour buses. If those *were* running ...

A-ha: the 151 does run weekends, but on a scattered timetable:
http://transitchicago.com/maps/bus/bus/151.pdf

So, if you could manage it, take the Blue Line to Belmont. Catch a Belmont 77 eastbound, and take that to Sheridan, where you can catch the 151 south.

(actually, the 77 veers over and follows the Lake for a bit, and comes pretty close to the Zoo. You might want to ask the bus driver how close he comes to it, if it's walkable from the last stop on the Southbound route)

Not to be totally annoying, but the Trip Planner does not belong to transitchicago.com (the CTA's site), but it is a service provided by the RTA.

*Looks around at RTA office*

Yes, the RTA, providing a world-class public transportation system that - whatever.

Also, if you put in Sunday at say, 1 PM, you get a few routes that will take less than an hour (from the Cumberland CTA station). So those could all work (the #22, #36, and #11 could all work, depending on if you don't mind walking a half mile).

OK, but I do usually get to the tripsweb site through the transitchicago site, so. Smile

Yeah, plugging in the times you are realistically expecting to go is quite helpful.

And several people will have cars...I forget what time I'm leaving Sunday, but I'll probably do one of these things, so I can offer transportation at least one way even if I have to leave early.

ARGfest attendees! Attention for Fri. Night Dinnah!

Hola!

We now have a reservation for 15 (according to the wiki) at the Gino's East near the ARGfest Hotel (see wiki for links to their website, and a map).

I have made the reservation for 7PM.

Varin and I were talking earlier today, and I believe, in order to accomodate those getting in a bit later in the evening, to do the ARG Museum at the hotel after dinner.

So: PIZZA at 7PM, Museum sometime after that, perhaps around 9, or 10, until whenever.

What's great about the reservation is that you can order whatever the heck you want. Salad, breadsticks, or just a cola. Whatever. There is no party package requirement, and I am sure we can tack on additional folks no problem, even if we have a separate table or two.

Oh, Twilight, you should be fine with coming to Reza's on Saturday, btw. I think with a couple changes of people, you'll still be able to sit with everyone, no problemo.

That's all for now. I will report more if needed, later.
