Well, planning a simultaneous EuroARGFest would probably not be such a good idea, as quite some European folks will probably be trying to attend the US ARGFest.

We're busy planning a MiniFest, more of a get together really, in late April / early May in and around Amsterdam, so let me know if you're interested and I'll keep you posted.

I would be able to attend ARGFest Chicago as well, its not all that far away from me. It would be my first convention outside of Star Trek. *insert nerd joke here*

Let me try and hold in how excited I am that this year I'll actually be showing up and say "Okay, now that that's over with, next is a date".

I'm for anything as long as I have atleast 90 days prior notice. Also, I think that it definitely should be after school gets out for the summer. That way the younger crowd doesn't have to worry about homework while they are enjoying themselves. Because that would just suck. Smile

Agreed, and not just for students, but also for teachers and/or parents of students.

Late July/early August seems to be the best schedule-wise, if not necessarily weather-wise. The Fest '06 Planning Committee will think up plenty of indoor activities, besides, it's all about us being together, right?

The sooner we pick a date, the better. Not only for our overseas friends, but for those of us with kids, spousal units, and not-unlimited funds, so that we can plan accordingly. I would recommend one of the following weekends:
  • July 14-16
  • July 21-23
  • July 28-30
  • August 4-6
The weekend before is too close to July 4th, and the weekend after cuts it a little close to the start of school. Remember that these are just suggestions, not trying to be pushy or anything, and making them in the interest of keeping the ball rolling.

I think it's time for a Condorcet poll. Clayfoot?

While it's not as official as say, the Clayfoot Condorcet poll, I'm all for any of the the July weekends. (I'm so glad we're planning this so early, BTW. I think this will rule!)

August is going to likely be WAAAYYYY too hot for fun in Chicago. (I would actually lean towards the earlier July dates, cuz it's typically beautiful weather around mid July in Chi-town. Breezy, but not windy. Hot but not melty. Smile

Of course, I could be wrong and it could be a heat-wave induced by a hurricane, so who the hell knows. But I still think earlier in July is better. (Excepting the holiday where the USofA did that whole "We're the United States" thing... Smile)

OMG just come over to my house right now, and we'll have hot cocoas and play video games.

Er, um, yes. What Dorkmaster said. It is a mite bit cooler at the top of July, but not by much. It can still be fairly sweltering. And yes, Virginia, there is humidity here in the summers.

Yeah, in terms of my comments on the weather. Don't get me wrong. Summer is still Summer, any way you cut it. And the first week of August isn't likely to vary much from the last week of July...

But still, earlier in July is better, IMHO for non-sweaty masses.

But if sweaty masses are your bag, well, then... um... I think, um, I left the stove on... gotta run.
