I am not in Chicago, but I'm only an hour north on the same lake, and I gotta say, there's usually little if any difference between mid-July and August.

Note the "usually." Weather here prides itself on being unpredictably, and I remember both a 65-degree day in December and snow in late June, so...

But insofar as you can plan anything weather-related in the Midwest, earlier July, climate-wise, would probably* be more pleasant.

*barring further global warming, our own Midwestern Ice Age, the aforementioned summer snowstorms, torrential rains, tornados, or any other Midwestern Weather Delights.

Where's that poll? Should we start a thread for the days poll?

(And thanks Varin for deleting a double post. I didn't know cuz it went over to another page. And that I'm an idot. That helped.)

To make it easy - the weekend of July 21-24, or whichever combination thereof that we choose to use, is the one year anniversary of ARGFest-o-con NY.

Should we just go with that?

Objections?

No matter where, when or how, there will always be people who are unable to attend (even though they want to). Fact of life; there is just gonna be no way to please EVERYONE.

Go with what works best for the folks who are hosting the event - make it easiest for them. The rest of us will work our schedules (if possible) around that.

I know it will suck for some because that is the one weekend they can't make it; or it's too far; or too expensive. This group has always been good about finding ways to share the inperson experience with those back home online. Photos & chatlogs, please!!!!

And, remember, there is always next year.

How about this:

Who lives in/near the Chicago area who could say they'd be willing to be part of the dev team for ARG Fest '06?

I'm in.

Wooo!!! Chicago!!! I can go this year! Late July will probably be pretty hot, but I also turn 19 on July 30, so ARGFest + Birthday would equal one bitchin' time.

I too would love Chicago, especially because this time around I'll be a year older (almost 18!) and almost definitely would be able to finagle getting there! Woot! Smile

Yes, I object! I'll be in Las Vegas that week. Sad

But have fun, folks. And have a beer (or seven) for me.

I can almost definitely go to ARGFest if it is in Chicago. However, earlier in July is easier than later in July. We have a really big party at my house every year on the weekend of July 31-Aug5, depending on which date Sunday falls on.

Of course you can't change the dates just to suit me, but if we are wondering which part of July works best for the most people, that is what would work best for me.

I may stay with my dad, who lives about 15-20 minutes outside of Chicago, or stay in a hotel with friends, depending on what funds I have.

I live in Bloomington, which is about 2 1/2 hours away from Chicago. I'm not quite sure what's involved with developing these sorts of things (besides getting prices for conference rooms) so I don't know how much help I could be. But I'm willing to do whatever, outside of anything involving actually being inside the city.

Let me know what it is and I'll get it done.
