ILB on IMDB?

[EDIT] IMDb added the voice actors to the Halo2 cast.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0412799/fullcredits
Hope to see the crew and production credits up there soon!

Well guys, a few days after the game was ended, I submitted all of the credits to IMDB(Internet Movie Database). There really isn't a precident for this type of thing so I classified it as a (VG, video game). Alot of the voice actors were already listed on IMDB for various other projects.

Unfortunately, I just got this email today:
Quote:
This message is being sent in response to your recent new title submission to
IMDb as indicated in the subject.

We are unable to add this title because the information currently available
suggests it is not eligible, sorry. The eligibility criteria are described
at:

http://www.imdb.com/updates/newtitle

It is extremely unlikely we would be able to change our position on this at
the present time, however, for general information on getting titles approved
please visit:

http://www.imdb.com/updates/guide/pending_title

or check the frequently asked questions page:
http://www.imdb.com/updates/guide/faq
If you believe we overlooked something relevant feel free to submit
additional information to make your point, preferably documenting it with
links on the web (URLs) as described at:

http://www.imdb.com/help/show_article?newtitleurl

Regards,

The IMDb new title approval team

So sorry folks, looks like it's not going to be listed. Which is really a shame because we all know that so much hard work and outstanding talent went into it. Maybe, there's another database like IMDB that will list: I Love Bees(2004).

probably just as well, the message board would be filled with the following:

THIS SUCKS!

this film is rascist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

X-Men was better than this crap!

IMDB message boards: we're never met a movie that our core group of angry fourteen year olds actually liked

is there like a radio drama category or something? technically, the acting talent was in the audio, and technically the audio drama isn't a video game... if it's entered as an audio-only style media, such as radio drama, it might be accepted.

I thought about that too, but I entered pretty much all of the info from the MIA page because I didn't want to leave anyone out. There's no question that ILB can be placed in more than one catagory. It may be that IMDB sees ILB as just a marketing thing or a commercial, so it's not 'worthy' of being listed on IMDB. I hate that, but there's not much I do now.

Edit: IMDB doesn't have a place for audio-only, or radio dramas that I know of.

Well, it is the Internet Movie Data Base after all.... ILB is many things, but without a video component I suspect it'll never be considered a "movie".

-- Steve's kinda surprised that they accept VG submissions, but guesses that the cinematics give them a fig-leaf to hide behind.

I tried this too, awhile ago. Still got no responce on my end, but I am sure it will be a rejection like you got astrovanman. The closest option they had for what to consider the title was a video game. The only other options I believe were movie and tv show. Hopefully they will send me my rejection soon, so I can try again. I will fight to the end...

I will join you in your epic battle...

...thingy.

Maybee if we all annoy them enough, they'll give into our demands, and start up either an ARG section, or put ILB into the credits! Twisted Evil

I doubt they will begin an entire ARG section of IMDb, but it is possible that they would add an audio catagory. But that doesn't matter, no one can stop the Beekeepers! (except for those giant wasps... and maybe sunlight, yeah, sunlight may hurt us)

IMdB addition criteria...and getting rejected

Hey, Tara Platt from ILOVEBEES here, thanks for all your perserverance in trying to get it listed up on the imdb.

After chatting with Kristen and Yuri (from the cast), I decided as a cast member to try to add it, thinking it might be looked at differently or something...but got the same message as you did.

Dunno what any of you think about adding it as a piggy-back to HALO 2, since it was released in conjunction... If you read the eligibility requirements it states that video games are acceptable as are works that had a public interest and were accessable by the public. I think that ILOVEBEES meets those rules. Lemme know if anyone thinks adding it along with HALO2 would be a good idea. I think that is how THE BEAST and AI did it.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for your support thru the game.

Be well

Tara

Well, I thought about putting all of the info with Halo 2 also, but I'm worried that with the way IMDb is set up, it will be hard to discern Halo 2 cast and crew from ILB cast and crew.

I'm not very familiar with how the Beast was done, but looking at the IMDb credits for A.I. I really couldn't tell you who worked on the Beast; except for Sean Stewart - pupper master; Stan Winston Studio.

So my vote is for a separate entry for ILB, but with many references to Halo 2 of course.

Thanks.

Yeah, I agree too, but with the reaction we're getting from imdb, it doesn't seem they want to get it up on there as a work unto itself.

My thought re: piggybacking would be to list the actor's/crew names and jobs/character names as ILB Durga, ILB Kamal, ILB audio recorder, etc. so it would be very easy to id the ILB crew.

Just a thought. Of course, it would be best if it were accepted on it's own merits, but who knows what they want.

Anyway, if anyone wants to give that a whirl, that might be the way to do it. I won't be able to do that for a while.

Be well.

You're right, they probably won't list ILB on it's own. I'm gonna try later on today(after I get back from class) to post all of the cast/crew on Halo 2 with the ILB: etc... format.

I think it's at least important that you all get recognized for your hard work.

Good call on that, Tara! I hope this idea works - esp. if it worked for the Beast.

Rock!

Alrighty, I just sent all the credits to IMDb, except for the special thanks part, most of those names were already on the Halo2 credits and I just ran out of steam. I forgot how long it took me to enter all those names in the first time. I will add them later assuming IMDb accepts the rest of the credits I sent them.

*fingers crossed*

I will post back here when I learn anything from IMDb.
