[META][ATL] Live Event Coordination Woo! Live Tombstone Poker event in Atlanta on November 12th! Anyone planning to go? Anyone have any idea where it will be? Anyway, I suppose we could use this thread to coordinate for this event, even though it's about a month and a half before it's time. But there's nothing wrong with jumping on the ball early.
Edit: Topic. -SpaceBass

I wish I could Urthstripe- Atlanta is about the only one I would be able to make unless they add a location in Florida.
I'll have to start saving my pennies between now and then. Anyone willing to either share a hotel room or have crash space I could use?

I'm considering going. Its a 4-5 hour drive for me, so if the earlier events turn out to be notably cool then I'll commit.

I might can make it down. Maybe.
It is also a 4-5 hour drive for me, but not a horriblesitintrafficforhours type of drive. There's plenty of scenery (if you like billboards for roadside pr0n) and rather rural (*sniff* Hmm, Is that a chicken farm or a pig farm?)
I know a great Hampton Inn on the north side for about $50/night with free breakfast (and not a crap "continental breakfast" either, there's meat involved)

Depending on where the cemetery they choose is located, I can scope out some good hotels close to the site, but that's a whiles away.

I think I have a lead on where the games may be held. I was sick and stuck in a hotel for all of last week and one of the magazines talked about Atlanta's open-air museum...the Oakland Cemetery!

I don't know if this is going to be the place, but it's be enough to be featured as a tourist attraction and have it's own article.

If this is correct, which it may very well be, but it's not a very big place, BUT there is definitely no, no, NO parking near there, if they expect anywhere near the volume they had in SF. So the best option would be to MARTA it. Yay Marta. Really, it's not that bad.

I'm not familiar with the area, where is the closest parking?
Plus,there's always car pooling!

That's exactly it, there really is no parking. I guess, you could park in the Marta lot, and walk over there, that would probably be a good idea, but if that's the place, I'll probably be taking Marta, anyway. Easier, and without the headache of driving in downtown Atlanta.

Oakland Cemetery was at the top of my list as well. It was the first cemetery that came to mind because it's often discussed around Ga Tech because the Augmented Environments Lab has been doing a larg project there, "The Voices of Oakland ." Urth is right, there is a definite parking issue there. However, it is the one of the most notable cemeteries (if not the most) in the area and a pretty cool place for the event.
Anyway, I'd love to get down there and it doesn't look like I'll be around for the Graveyard Games If anyone is up for doing some of the small favors down there, let me know.

Kansas City is this weekend, but everyone we know that's going has an assigned contact, so it's time to get to work on Atlanta. If you want a contact for the weekend, pm with contact information as soon as possible . If you want to be a contact, do the same. If I already have your contact information, pm confirmation that you're available and interested. Let's be prepared, everyone.

anybody willing to go in halfsies (or moresies) on a hotel room? Its pretty much my limiting factor on attending.
I'm looking at a $99/night Marriott less than a mile the cemetery with two double beds. Alternatively, its $89 with a king and a sofa bed.
