Wave 2 cards

If you don't want to see them, don't look, but the thumbnails of the new red, green and blue cards are up at the perplexcity site - nine of each.

The images you've collected there have been viewable since the solve page was opened - the only difference was the fact that the original images were much larger, and Mind Candy reduced them in size drastically. This fact, along with the request that people didn't take photos of the wave 2 card on display at the Expo last weekend makes me think that maybe, just maybe, Mind Candy don't really want these images splurged across the internet before the cards are released.

Just my opinion,

J

Juxta,

Thanks for your input.

I disagree on two counts - first, the images have not been there since the solve page was opened. I noticed that on oliverkeers13 and ryanandrew's details they used to display 'image not found' for the wave two cards they have, but only in the last couple of days have the images been there.

Secondly, understandably Mind Candy would not want people to be able to take images that would allow people to solve the cards before they were released. These don't even allow you to see their names, they merely heighten the anticipation.

However, if the consensus is that this spoils things, of course I will remove them.

Doublecross,
many thanks for your response. Your second point is moot - if you want to show the card's images, there isn't any way that you can be prevented from doing so. Whether they were intended to be public domain prior to the official release is open to debate, the fact that they haven't been released for sale yet, that we've been requested not to take any more images of the cards and that they were only discovered through manipulation of the urls on the PxC website, (not directly linked) are just the little clues which have led me to my own personal conclusions on this.

Your other point is incorrect however - when the PxC site was opened for solves to be entered, it contained links to the wave 1 card images. By manipulating the url for these images, you could easily find wave 2 card images. This was discussed discreetly, and although I can't speak for everyone on this, generally people might have peeked and then left well alone, it certainly wasn't cause for mass postings in the Puzzle Cards sections with these new findings. The images originally were much larger than those thumbnails - and were reduced at some point in time later, coincidentally when certain people started making efforts to solve the puzzles.

Anyway, the discussion is redundant, I disagree with what you've done - I think it's akin to going and finding your Xmas presents before the day,and then telling all the other kids on Sesame Street exactly where they can find theirs too - but whatever floats your boat. *shrugs*

The original larger-sized (280x281) wave two's vanished within 24 hours of some small-talk in the irc channel. Sad

I still think that's why they made a big deal over me taking two attempts to solve Parallel Lines for the first leaderboard solve Crying or Very sad

I think I have seven of the new ones solved, though (and close on one of the silvers Wink) - I just need the real cards to go with them Very Happy

Well it's mid-November - where are the second wave cards? Rolling Eyes

What is interesting is the pattern generated by the wave 1 and wave 2 cards, though. We still won't know what the first, second and last sets are, but there will be lots of set bonuses.

Well:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
They're all up now. You should be able to find them through some fairly easy URL manipulation, if you so desire.
