I've got to believe that the curse is ended because a "Smith" and a "Sullivan" came to peace with one another. Also, although the curse was in effect (ie, someone at the game died), the Gun was not the cause of the death, right, because Kerry shot him with his gun.

Don's not stupid; he already doesn't trust Kerry, so he tells him to keep his hands where Don can see them while he's busy shooting Lucy (because she threatened to expose his misdeeds to his children). I still believe that Don would shoot Kerry first as he is the only real threat in the room. And with him out of the way Don could fill out his fantasies of torturing Lucy. Don would have alot more to lose by leaving Kerry alive than Lucy. But ymmv, and it looks like it does.
