[NEW] Receda Institute for Somnotherapy Phone Line

On the bottom of the www.therecedasign.com website a two numbers appeared today:

USA: 1 800 959 2138
UK: 0207 526 4577

I rang the UK number and it was an automated phone line with a synthesised voice for the 'Receda Institute for Sleep Therapy' with a list of options.

I've gone through all the options and here is a transcript of the phone menus (some words were slightly unhearable, but the general gist is right)
Code:

Hello and welcome to the receda institute for <?>sleep therapy daytime service.
Press 1 for our councilling services

-Late night? Can't sleep? Our extraordinary councillors can put you to bed in no time
-Press 1 if you are a new insomniac
--All our councillors are busy sleeping right now, perhaps have a snooze and call back in an hour

-Press 2 if you have been seen by our councillors previously
--All our councillors are busy sleeping right now, perhaps have a snooze and call back in an hour

Press 2 for our sleeping department

-Welcome to the yawn sleeping department
-Press 1 if it was a nightmare situation
--I'm afraid we can't help you there matey, we only deal with happy problems, don't want to get all depressed ourselves, you are probably cursed by evil clowns or flying monkeys

-Press 2 if it was related to fluffy bunnies
--Interesting, perhaps we can help you, one of the hardest parts of our job is deciding whether we can treat people, that's why we leave it to our automated phone system
--Press 1 if it happened in the day
---Press 1 for why
----Well yes, I think we could possibly help you, try calling extension 221 in working hours
---Press 2 for why not
----Excellent, you sound like just like the strange wierdo we like, give us a call on extension 131 in working hours
--Press 2 if it happened in the night
---<unknown sound> Did a dark man follow you
---Press 1 for yes
---- <spelled>HMM maybe we can help, try extension 432 in working hours
---Press 2 for no
---- Well we'll have a go but we guarantee nothing, try extension 314 in working hours

Press 3 for admissions
-Upon admission to our internal ward for sleep examination we can provide you with excellently bouncy beds and the sounds of whales calling across the ocean, all drugs are extra, unfortunately all our beds are full right now, maybe you should arrange a night shift

If you listen, it is hard to tell what the receda institute is, it sounds a bit like a cross between sleep, sound and insomnia, or something like that.

There is some real wierd stuff in there, but it's obvious if we ring back at night, there will be something else on there.

edit: spelling in the title. GuyP

Actually "evil clowns", not plans. Excellent transcript though.

For what it's worth, in 'nightmare situation' it sounded to me like 'evil clowns' and I think the unknown sound before 'Did a dark man follow you' might be 'Oh my'

I'd second that. It sounded to me like evil clowns (the worst kind!)

I also tried using various combinations of # and * to try and find a way to enter an extension number, but I had no luck.

Perhaps someone with experience in this can have a go?

I've updated it... sorry about that, the menus repeat themselves if you don't press a button, but the terminating sequences cut you off right after they've finished speaking.

With the receda approach leading to the receda sign leading to this phone line it looks like me like none of these things individually have any (or much) meaning (the receda sign will is a film that will never exist, the the receda approach is a band that will never appear etc..) they are just here to lead us on the trail that Monica was talking about. But that's just my opinion Wink

Edit: I've also tried typing in different numbers at the menus, * restarts the menu, # does nothing and any other number you seem to get 'Wake up, and choose the right option'

Well, one usual way is to simply replace the last three numbers of the phone number. That is of course if these extensions exist, and aren't just there to give us sequences of numbers to decode ...

I tried as well - no dice. If you try to get out of the main menu with any number other than 1, 2 or 3 you get 'Wake up and choose the right option'

Maybe it was just my connection from Denmark, but the '432' message kept repeating on me instead of cutting off.

I tried the first two 0207 526 4221, 0207 526 4131, they were invalid

0207 526 4432 rang, for about 6 rings but no one answered and I bottled it Wink I think it's probably a dead end.

The, ring 'within working hours' makes me think it's something that be available if we ring back tonight - the working hours of a sleep centre being night time?

4432 - out of service
4221 - engaged
4131 - out of service
4314 - engaged

Option 3 is either missing a little, or has been updated. Now you get (13:37pm BST)

Press 3 for admissions
-Upon admission to our internal ward for sleep examination we can provide you with excellently bouncy beds, and the sounds of whales calling across the ocean, all drugs are extra, unfortunately all our beds are full right now, maybe you should arrange a night shift

Also, choosing Options 2 (Sleeping Department), 2 (Fluffy Bunnies), 2 (At night) and 1 (Yes) the message HMM maybe we can help, try extension 432 in working hours plays, and then loops continuously.

One for some work this evening then perhaps, as at no point are there any holes to enable us to "break" the IVR message and dial out. (Most phone/PBX systems released these days are pretty tight on those, since phreakers found out that they could make calls to a local/national number and then "bounce" them off to Timbucktoo...and could sell this information off to large numbers of people who would then make thousands upon thousands of pounds worth of phone calls until they got caught)

As far as the UK number, that'll definitely incur a charge - it's a London code, so we're all paying for it when we dial over here - but from Australia, I imagine you might pay a wee bit more
