For the record I emailed Violet about the happenings of october 22nd, and the third power information we have.

To e-mail sente don't we have to go through the assistant?
However we do it (assistant, Kurt, etc.), I think it's important to remember that we have a valid reason to be asking questions.
I feel that many aspects of the cube hunt have wound up in a 'forest for the trees' situation. We're now so used to thinking that 3P is lurking around every corner that we've started to believe that subterfuge is the only way forward. While secrecy is important in certain cases (i.e. nearly everything that Scarlett gets up to, the visit to the Recons, etc.) there are times that knocking on the front door can be as effective as sneaking in the back.

Is this the wisest move publicity wise? No doubt the sentenal will get their grubby mitts on the story and theres gonna be a lot of hassle with that book, I mean, think about it, at the end of the day they want a scoop so they will be pestering round for answers of the boks inportance until somebody goes slightly insane.
In conclusion, asking=press=anoyed team= perhaps less support in future.
Ignore me if you want, just thought I would throw this into the field

I see where you're coming from, cronogenesis, but wouldn't we run the same risk contacting some random Seaside author whose name we've only known for a couple of weeks?

I don't think he answer could be contacting some random writer from the Seaside site. Would you reply to an email like that, some unknown person asking you to get them in a highly secured museum?
Maybe asking Sente is the best option. I mean, we're doing this for him, right? Finding the Cube and everything? The least he could do is give us some flippin' help.

Well looking at things totally objectively and warranting of a slap, why would we be given the seaside press website curiously close to this latest development of Violet's story without a reason?
I'm all for emailing somebody, anybody! , as long as we're confident it'll get Violet to the book without too much collateral damage.
I personally feel Sente is too shady, and will ask far too many questions. Think about it, when his daughter comes up to him and asks if he can get her access to a relatively secured Diary then obviously the "Research" story won't quite cut it. Besides, I've got a feeling that the Sentinel will get hold of it and publish a controversial article about it with excerpts.
Well there's my tuppence worth!

Well then, maybe Violet shouldn't ask him, maybe we should ask him... this guy owes us some help.

I expect that you're right - if there's one thing that we've learned so far along the trail, it's that everything happens for a reason. I'm just feeling a bit bloody-minded today.

I'm not sure that we should necessarily let fear of the Sentinel guide our decision. I can't see that contacting a Seaside author is a more leak-proof course of action than any other.
Speaking of the Sentinel, and apologies if this has been discussed before, but have we ever considered cultivating a journalist at the paper and planting stories - either to cover our tracks or flush out the opposition? (After all, 'confidential sources' seem to be quite popular at the moment...)

Might just be me, but I don't see looking into Granier as deeply and privately as his diary to be constituted because of the house alone. I would imagine there was something else about the house to draw attention (the symbol), which would unravel everything.
And besides, paranoia isn't a bad thing when you're right about it.
So, really, telling whoever it is we choose is either a matter if trust in letting them in, or a matter of stupidity in keeping them out.
And maybe we should just give Violet the ideas and a nudge in the "right" direction and let her roll with it; she's a smart girl, am I right?

Um, maybe it's a bit too obvious, but wouldn't Uncle Sanjean be the perfect person to ask? He is a senior fellow at the Academy, has direct links to Granier and knows that Violet is interested in him. The Academy site says that he published a book called Intricate Design in 235 and likes graphical puzzles, he could easily spin a tale about wanting to know the history of this particular symbol. Well, I'll let Violet be the judge, I'll send her an email.

I think you mis-interpreted what I was saying, so I apologise for my bad-wording. What I meant was that I reckon The Sentinel will get hold of Grainer's diary and publish excerpts from it, therby reducing our workload. Though by the looks of things, it's looking increasingly unlikely; MC never make our job easy!!!

The house has been in my family for generations, but it was actually built by Granier, who gave it to Vianne Adamek when she retired as Master of the Academy
As most of you know I'm knew to this so I may be talking rubbish but it's a thought and I may be helpful.
Could we not try and get any information through Uncle Sanjean?? He obviously has a clear link with the Granier. Just a thought that hasn't been mentioned yet

Uncle Sanjean gets my vote, although I hear what you're saying about Sente giving us some help. He did set us up for this hunt and should therefore be sending some sort of aid our way(or some sort of anything for that matter - has anyone heard from him at all?)

Unequivocally - yes. Someone tell Violet to do this.
