Question on Gibbet's final answer

Hi, new here, and fantastic work all on this card. I have read the entire thread and trying to fully understand Gibbet's final explanation.

Just one question really isn't obvious.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In step one you corrected only some of the two letter sets with aa=1 instead of az=1. How did you deduce which sets of letters needed the rotation?

Thanks.

(Apologies for poor formatting but I think it gets the message accross)

Which is much closer to the correct text - a lot are out by 1 and there seems to be an error in the numbers to Hebrew of 501 -> 50

Naturally this was working back from the correct answer to all credit to those whose work was done without the answer Wink

Shadow letters on card
Could they have been added by CT?

I read this entire thread but I didn't see where anything was done with solving the "shadow letters" that are faintly behind the text of this card. I can't see them all clearly but from way back in this thread Hivemind posted:

Quote:
There are dim letters on the stem of the R which spell out the chars 2, 10 and 11. From left to right top to bottom, a no7 shape to each repectively.
and also

Quote:
Ok that number is 464 after translation.

Using the digraph posted by Ramazel that was used to solve this (and the corrected one posted by k3) 464 seems to be RE

I didn't see anything further on these "shadow letters" and I wondered if people think they could have been added to the card by CT as part of a message? Now we know that CT also uses the information on a card as part of a message, maybe we need to look at this again?

the shadow word letters are {khet samekh vav}

I tried t make anagrams of this letters and i came up with this three.
Theme kasha v v
Have them save k
The same a k v h k v

the only one that looks useable is "Have them save k" there was a code name k in the 3P.

this may not be a clue Confused it may be all to do with the number 464 or the letters it in codes (RE)

okay, could the corrected letters be a second message?

There's the letters
nhieyuetteofes
which were replaced by other letters.

I can anagram these to "e you thief sente" or "ee you sent thief", maybe some others.

The letters which replaced them
mshwbgwhudnvdh
might also be involved? (though, I think it would have to be both sets of letters combined, just the replacement set has too few vowels, unless of course it's not an anagram)

the spacing of the "wrong" letters could be relevant. 8/3/2/1, the wrong letters were spaced out every other letter alone those patterns.

Or, is it just a geniune flaw in the card or flaw in the decrypt method?
