That front 'folding' is a very clever way to accurately define distance in a pseudo 3D picture!

Text Hint

The text hint says:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You'll need to use thread. And lots of it.

...could be a long job on this one... wish me luck..

Any ideas on the significance of the orange 'beads' on various threads?

They seem to indicate a sequence or instructions on how to proceed but I haven't the foggiest what they're trying to tell us!!

Ok I get it now, its like one of those old wall hangings that you used to get years ago.

I'm locked out so I can't try it right now

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

each orange "blob" represents a pin position on the board, and you need to wrap a long thread around each pin (making sure to visit each pin 4 times as per the card)

Not only should it make a pretty pattern but the final length of the string is what you are looking for?

I tried to work it out by hand and probably got it wrong so I don't reccomend anyone try it but I think it might be 22m
Could be wrong though

This is gonna be complicated.
You have to pass through EACH notch 4 times?!?
So i work it out as 1 notch x 4 passes x 4 notches to each side x 4 sides, But then you have to measure how long each side is!
This seems complicatedly easy for a purple.
Your thoughts?

Has anyone come to a decision as to whether the black converging lines are 'notches' scored into whatever this tube is, or are we simply to wind around the beads as if they were pins? Or even whether the dashed edges are merely for perspective as suggested above or to guide our four laps of the card???!!!
This could be a hell of a lot of work for nothing if we don't even know where to start...

This might be horribly messy - nearest Metre wanted on the solution page.

Austin.

I think the dots may be relevant, seeing as they range from 1-6 in varying places on the card. Could they be markers on where to start/finish? Or could they be part of the Risk metagame?
And yes, i think it is the card's intention for us to measure how long going 4 times through each notch on the side is, as they're the only things on the card that look relatively notch like.

I think that sort of verifies that it's going to be quite long.

So saying that the card measures 10.5cm/14.5cm approx. , 4 notches a side with 4 passes through each, i made
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
800cm

But i'm not even sure if the notches on the edge are the notches we are looking for [/jedimindtrick] the yellow lines could also be notches, which would coinicide with these yellow dots.

I think as of the moment, only badbarry has solved this, so his insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated Smile

I thought the notches might be the 20 x 28 dotted lines along the margins of the card, instead of the orange parts. I wrapped thread around the card to pass through each one one time and then measured and multiplied to get

meters, which was not correct. I tried to math out what it would be if the threads passed through the center and went back on the other side of the card and was incorrect. No more attempts for me today!

I think that the short vertical and horizantal lines arround the edge of the card are the notches cut into the card. The picture is not showing depth, but black thread wrapped arround the card going from one notch, across the centre of the card to the diagonally opposite notch.

On the back of the card, the thread would go to the neighbouring notch, and then back to the front and across the centre to the new diagonally opposit notch. This process is repeated until all of the notches have been passed through 4 times.

I have no idea what the orange beads are for.

Chris
