Is it just me or does anyone else think that the 'growls' at the end of the second track could be a spoken voice slowed right down?

Anyone able to do some technical jiggery pokery and speed them up?

Has anyone actually considered that helix hesh might be at gillit road too, as he will obviously have heard the album?

Also, what does it say at the beginning of heartfelt, might just be my hearing, but it sounds like a different language?

no da

Hi all, my first post here, all interesting stuff.
I fed clips of the growls into vienna soundfont studio so I can play them at all different speeds on each key of my midi keyboard, works ok as long as the clips are short. The first two or three appear to be a womans vioce saying Ohnack or olnack? mean anything? I'll get on to the rest as soon as I can.

I downloaded a coupla good time scale and pitch changing edirectX plugins (im using WaveStudio) but does anyone know of a good FREE noise filtering DIRECTX PLUGIN. Please check the above criteria before posting suggestions Smile

BTW, found this during my searching http://www.xs4all.nl/~mp2004/bp/bpsetup.exe looks good for speeding up and slowing down audio and is a standalone App, for those without anby audio progs.

and a good slowing down DirectX plugin is here http://www.delaydots.com/xfreeware.html

Just a few thoughts after listening to this album a couple of times. Apologies if they are too obvious/mentioned already...

Journey From The Centre
The repeating 'hiss' and 'whoosh' sounds on this track instantly reminded me of when I used to go scuba diving. They're almost identical to the sound of inhaling/exhaling through the gear whilst underwater. Plus we also get some very 'bubbly' sound effects.
And there's a very strong theme of water/the ocean in Treasured Chest too - a lot of what sounds like splashing in the background, but it's hard to say where exactly that might be. Looking at the album as a whole, a Conch is a kind of seashell, and remember the image of 'a beautiful deep green sea' where Helix last saw Viard? And isn't Helix's house by the sea too? All a bit speculative, I know...

Heartfelt
The snippet of speech at the beginning is French. From what I can catch (yay for GCSE French...) she says something like 'listen!' at the very beginning, then 'wait. don't stop...' at the very end. I can't hear the bit in between.

Culture Shock
What is 'the study', and who are 'the subjects'? Are they us? Eh? Eh?
Well, search me.

Conchis
The 'tweety' noises in this reminded me of the high-pitched 'voices' on that old Pink Floyd track, Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict. So could these be sped up voices too? There's some pretty creepy chanting in the background too.

Argh. I think the problem is knowing where to stop with this thing. On one hand I'd love to think there's more to it than the poorly-hidden message in When We Were Young, but then the many distorted voices people have reported hearing could just be in there for the musical effect and atmosphere they give...

Argh. Confused

yeh, its ether 'olnack' or something very similar, i played it in reverse too, but it made even less sense. I did some googling... olnick was a relatively well known musician who also at one point was influential in esstablishing the electreonic music scene. COuld be reading way too much into this.

Idea

One other thing - the Aphex Twin track Windowlicker famously has a hidden image of a 'demon face' in it, that can only be viewed through a Spectrogram program (there's a good description here).

Could there be something similar embedded in The Silver City? If I can find some software, I'll give it a shot...

Gillen, Gillet road, I forget which it is, is a road in Perplex City, hence the whole, who to send thread. The kindling of the flame is first snowfall in Perplex City, any news on this happening yet??

And here is information on Helena Frye.

All of the above is mentioned in this thread
Please read all of the thread before posting.

Thank you

Forg

Ayuh, indeed, what Forg said. To date, we've not heard any further news on the first snowfall in PerplexCity, but the latest Earth edition of the Sentinel is due in around two days time - if they have had any snow, I'm sure we'll hear about it there. Unless Kurt or Violet tells us first.
Wink Anyway, once the first snow falls, the Viard message tells us to get someone to Gillit Road (which Kurt informed us is in PxC) seven days later, in order to witness Helena Frye (PerplexCity Police) doing...something, which will prove that she is in league with the Third Power.

Thats all folks

[unrelated]

Has anyone else noticed two nods to the game Mornington Crescent on the PCS map?

Station Lyttleton could be a reference to Humphrey Littleton, host of I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue, the show which features the game.

Station Trellis Gate could refer to a "Mrs Trellis Of North Wales" who writes inane letters to said show.

Just a thought. Maybe it shows Mind Candy are Radio 4 listeners.
