Hi. Thanks for writing.
You and many other people from Earth have written to me about a "hidden message"
on The
Silver City. I don't know what you could possibly be talking about - there is no
message of any
sort on the album. I've listened to it again a number of times, and I've even
spoken to Viard,
who agrees - no message. I would pass your query on to the sound engineer who
worked with
Viard, but he is no longer with Hesh Records.
I'm afraid I can't explain whatever it is you think you've found, but I'd
appreciate it if you could
stop bothering me personally with it.

To get slightly more on topic
I was looking around for clues to who the sound engineer might be and I remembered ths article:
http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/archives/2005/11/iona_interviews_11.html
Quote:
We keep our talent by making sure we keep our talent happy," he declares. "Roll for Damage, for example, have their favourite studio technicians and support team, and it's part of my job to make sure that their preferred people are constantly available."
That need to be "constantly available" has caused some criticism, hasn't it? Famously, Zanadun Kane, the legendary producer, parted company from Hesh after arguments over creative control and working hours, taking some very lucrative contracts, including that of Joya, with him. Does Hesh feel he asks too much?
Could this be our sound engineer? Even though he is no longer with the company I'm sure he could have ties within it to put a message on our CD. They had a disagreement too which could lead Zanadun to want to tarnish Hesh's career..
This is spec of course but if we don't have any other leads this could be a useful avenue to pursue. The problem is, how could we get in contact with him?

How about via the Sentinel? They should have contact details (being a newspaper and all), we'd just need a convincing cover story. An Earth Journo interested in the Viard album and wanting some background info on the makers?
[edit] and well remembered!

I'd be more than happy to offer to try and get in contact - having had a fair bit of experience behind a mixing desk, I'm probably suitably geeky enough to get away with a techy interview if necessary!

see i didnt think you would mean zanadun because he used to be the producer left. so what your saying is that you think zanadun didnt really leave but pretended to so there wasnt any stress between him and joya because they had had an affair and she got pregnant with the cute baby

Any chance of consigning this thread to the afterlife? It seems to be getting more surreal by the post. I also had the dubious pleasure of finally listening to the cd....it's crap

It might be crap, but I've found that at a low volume it's rather good at curing my insomnia
