Can we look at getting all submissions in by the 16th December?

This should allow us the time to collate and edit the document we are to send to Violet. This will include any ilustrations we wish to add, th cover of the book and any subliminal messages we want to include about 3P moles in the cube search team on Earth...

One point we need to look at is spelling. I know we all have spell checks etc but we need to standardise the spelling we use as the articles submitted from the States have different spellings than those submitted in the UK. ('Color' and 'Colour' etc) As MC are a UK based company I am guessing we should go with UK spelling conventions but if anyone has any strong feelings about it then can they let us know?

I don't think stadardising the spelling is necessary, it would bring home the point that these are all written by different people, all over the world.

In fact, I think it would be cool if someone from a non-English speaking country were to submit something in their native language (with a translation of course)

Mine is now on the wiki, and is called "Where's my meniscus and other time wasters". Any constructive comments are welcome.

Can we hint at the police mole please? Then we can come out with the full blown report a month later!

That just might send her into hiding and mean we loose our only known member of 3P. Best to stay our hand and keep close tabs on Ms Frye...

Does anyone have a rough idea of word count? How much more do we need? The collaborative story is going through a slow patch, but I think it'll be ideal stuffer that's quickly written if we need more at short notice.

If I remember rightly, we are at about 20,000 words. This may have gone up if there have been more submissions on the Wiki in the last 12 hours that I have not taken into account. We are still only about 1/2 way there so several more stories and articles are needed...

If you are feeling creative then get writing. Very Happy

We will also have to send them our names and addresses so that they can send us a copy of the finished book!

Surely it won't be a book. They'll probably publish it online rather than in a book/pamphlet.

However with that spare $3m they could make a book made from gold and give it to us.

Methinks it wouldn't be out of their budget, we may even make some money out of it, even if they only sold it on firebox, I think the majority of pxc players would definitely want to buy it, and when editing it, mind candy could put a puzzle in for us too, something that only earth peoples would be able to figure out, that would sell it to me!

nice story Scott. I'm attaching a big chunk of writing to this page. It's tenuously linked to games (it's about a girl who falls in love with a sumo wrester) and it doesn't end (it's the beginning of a much longer story I haven't gotten around to finishing for, y'know, years, but it's 6500 words or so and at this stage it seems like we need them. SledgeCallier and any other interested parties, do you want to make a call on whether this belongs in the book? Maybe if it does someone could wiki it for me. I'm flat out at work until the weekend Sad

I'll have a read through it but to be honest I am loath to start making decisions on what should and shouldn't be in the book. At the moment we need all the stories we can get and it will only be the case that article get dropped if we get well over the 50,000 word mark, which I cannot see us doing in the next ten days. (But please feel free to prove me wrong! ) Smile

However, as it looks like the stories are about half and half between the theme of games and just general pieces on life on Earth, we'll probably split the book up into two sections and have half as 'Games' and the other as 'Tales from Earth' or 'Tales from the blue planet' or something like that, so we can enter everyones work.

Exclamation Those of you good folk who have submitted (or are going to submit) a story, could you please either PM me or e-mail tales.from.earthsplatgmail.com with your details and a brief description of yourselves so this can be added in as well. Exclamation

Cheers

Ok, not a very big submission in terms of word count, but every word counts right?

Apologies to Yanka, who rhymes with anchor, oil tanker and a rude word and so misses out.

Don't have a wiki login (and I'd only ruin the layout) so it's below if that's OK.

Poor Brienigma had guzzled
an enormous number of puzzles.
They soon sent him mad,
(which was terrbily sad)
and resulted in him being muzzled.

JebJoya enjoyed making games,
involving embroidery frames.
He got in a tangle,
used the wrong angle
and his ear hair burst into flames.

When SixSidedSquare was arrested,
"How could I resist" he constested,
"with number9dream
and devonshire cream,
it was really quite nice" he attested.

When looking one day for the cube
and wearing a purple boob tube,
Reason sat down,
and with a slight frown,
discovered the last rhyme was 'lube'.

Juvenile deliquent Centipede,
commited a dreadful misdeed,
and together with Seej,
his most noble liege,
made for the door at full speed.

The slightly delayed toongoon
was due at the meet at noon,
but he'd used the wrong ROT
and on a plane got,
spending the day in Cancun

Mind Candy's Adrian Hon
produced an elaborate con,
"Completely disguised
I'll make off with the prize
and live like a lord from now on"

Completely equipped ARGer Tanner
arrived at the meet with a spanner,
string, pen and paper
mouldy tongue scraper,
and fully mobile cat scanner
