[ARG?] www.bewaresamfisher.com Splinter Cell ARG

Not sure if any of you have seen this... looks as if there may be an upcoming ARG/game for Splinter Cell 4.

http://www.bewaresamfisher.com

Navigating the site gets you to a piece of paper where you log in and are told it is just the begining and something happens in november with the words "Beware" at the bottom.
I signed up randomly at this site a few months ago and now just got an email from Ubisoft that said "You have no idea whats coming... your search begins next week" with the title of the email being "Splinter Cell Transmission #1". So... seems November brings new games. Could be wrong... but certainly looks like one. Just in case it moves, i have started an IRC channel, #bewaresf on chat-solutions of course , so if you want to play, please join up there.
Thanks, Troy

Well the ubi main page for splinter cell states the new game will not be out until spring of 06 so this very well might be some kind of viral marketing/ARG to lead up to the game

And look at the thread "Pen Pals" at the official forum (http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/2771048463/m/3011047173).

It's Sarah Fisher (Sams daughter) on the picture, but it is an ARG or not?

Game Begins!

The site has updated, it now includes a board full of documents and a video. Seems Sam Fisher's daughter was killed be a drunk driver and Sam has been discharged from the military, the video shows random scenes of criminals, what look like viles, gadgets, and lots of other random stuff.
The phone plays a recording by sam that encourages you to keep digging
Calling the number in the bottom right hand corner plays a conversation between two men who seem to want to capture sam, if you say yes at the end of the recording, you get a text message after you hang up that says "KEEP FOLLOWING HIM. YOU LL END UP AS DEEP AS HE IS. BEWARESAMFISHER.COM will notify on launch" seems to still be pregame which would make sense with how long it is until release date. But anyway, some spec, deep from the text message could mean sam is either dead or involved in something without military permission, somehow involving his daughter (maybe the "accident" was not much of an accident and she is held at ransom). Anyways though... defintelely need to keep up on this one.

Note to mods: could we get a seperate section here soon? and if anyone can help with a barebones wiki... we may need it. Once again #bewaresf is chat on chat solutions
Thanks, Troy

So, the phone number dissapeared from the bewaresamfisher site, and a "register now" link appeared on the opposite side of the page... but the registration is in a foreign language (presumably Spanish).

On a side note, I happened to save the phone number; it is 1-877-731-7437. I think the message has changed, although I can't be sure, but it didn't ask me if I wanted to keep playing this time (the "KEEP FOLLOWING" message did appear promptly after I hung up, though).

Nope, still the same message, which i guess i will give a brief descritpion of, It begins with touch tone phone sounds, 3 of them, then two men talking about "Jane" bringing in another man, one then asks if fisher is really that good, and say if he is not they will kill him.

Hey guys, Recoil from the penny-arcade forums here, we just discovered it this morning and I think we've definitely got a couple leads.

We've made contact with someone who's definitely an actor, a company called Fisher Sales, and we've got a couple more phone numbers, too.

Start reading, if you're interested:

There's definitely more than meets the eye, here.

[another edit to semi-trout myself Smile ]

I rang the number (shhh don't tell my work) just now and listened to a conversation between two guys.
The gist of the conversation went

guy1) jamie's out, he's (blahblahblah)
guy2) blah blah - do we really need another man?
guy1) if this fisher guy is as good as jamie says he is, he might be able to help us
guy 2) if not we'll kill him (as troy said inan earlier post)

I"ll dial again and listen again shortly for more information, but at the end of the conversation an automated voice asked if I would like to continue monitoring the conversation via sms, and said to say yes. so I said "Yes" and it said "you will hear from us shortly" and hungup.

I tried for a second time on my mobile and said yes, we'll see if their automated system can reach across the world and work out how to automatedly take the 00 out of my number.

btw - anyone internationally wants to call it from their mobile, the number is 001-877-731-7437

[edit - no sms as yet]

More than one message

Hi all, this is the first ARG I've been around for at the beginning, so I'm hoping it will be a good one. I noticed some things about the bewaresamfisher site. The picture on the newspaper article appears to show a late model car that has apparently collided with a truck. In the text its a 1987 2 door sedan with "2 door sedan" in bold letters. As for the truck in the picture, I'm not sure why it is there since according to the article Sarah was killed when Joe's car jumped the curb and struck her while she was walking. The article also has a mile away from central uni- in bold letters, so perhaps there is a anagram or code using those phrases?
My guess is Sarah isn't really dead, but perhaps has been kidnapped to "persuade" Sam to do something against his will (rob banks for the kidnappers? to raise a ransom? or to prove he is willing to do something more sinister for them?)
There are also different messages that play when you call the number. I have not received any text messages even though I said yes after the first message, so I called back and the message was different(I wasn't expecting it to be, so I didn't have a chance to write it down, but I will try again after work). It also did not ask if I wanted to continue monitoring this time.

Respectfully
Stouffer11111

I can't seem to register, the paper keeps falling to the ground. hmmm

EDIT: Fixed- I hate using IE, but I guess I have to for this one.

I want to join in on this one.

I love the books and the games for Splinter Cell and I have alot of background knowledge of the series.

Heh, the only real ARG that I've played through from beginning to end and did everything in between was Wildfire Industries. Though I'm doing some of the stuff with Last Call Poker, there's waay too much information to be able to see everything. Even as little immersion as they have so far on this website, I got the SMS that I'll be notified on launch. I need to play another ARG.

Count me in on this one.

Here's a few facts about Sam Fisher's DD214 (Military Discharge papers) I've been in the military and I'm pretty good at reading orders:

-- Most importantly, the effective date of the DD214 is Sep 4, 1968, not recently, as what has been thought by many.

--He was an E5 when discharged (he served for 2 years and 11 months) E1 to E5 doesn't happen that fast unless a soldier is extremely good. Which brings me to my next point...

-- He recieved a Distinguished Service Medal while serving in the Navy as an Intel Analyst. He also had Advanced Weapons training.

-- The word, "Dishonorable" in block 13A. looks to be bolder and "newer" than all others (Using photoshop, you can see this.)

It is common for soldiers to switch from one branch of service to another. Or from a branch of service to another form of government agencies (e.g. CIA, Secret Service) In that case, the soldier must first be discharged from the original branch, then they can be sworn in to another afterward.

With all this in mind and being a fan of the book, here is my summation on just this document:

Sam Fisher joined the Navy after 2 years as a political science major. In almost 3 years of excellent soldiering the CIA recruited him based on his exemplary skills with intel and knowledge of politics.

He was discharged from the Navy (not dishonorably) and joined the CIA, then later, the NSA. Since the DD214 is printed on Third Echelon letterhead, one would think that the "Discharged" stamp is from the third echelon offices. One would also think that the "dishonorable" text editing is from there too.

So, he may have left 3rd Echelon on his own and this DD214 is simply a way for the NSA to cover their "You don't exist" policy.

Or, he may not be out of NSA at all...

Next thing: Sarah's picture

It is a completely digitized photo, not real of course. Why??

It is also marked to suggest that it had been folded and unfolded several times, as to suggest that someone, possibly Sam, had kept this on him during several missions.
