Didn't Mind Candy say that you dont really have to buy anything to win? I mean fair enough in other cases such as the cards and this audio bit you can look on this place and catch up to everyone which is brilliant, but this kinda makes me think...if you dont need to purchase anything, maybe the information about Helena could have been found online, but they had to release it in the CD as the due date was/is approaching, thats why its not exactly "hidden", but kinda like 30 seconds after the end of the track? Even if this is the case though, I doubt that we could find the message that is on the cards out online before they all arrive out, as they were designed like that. Just my two cents

Dan

I think what they meant was that you don't have to actually purchase any of the puzzle cards or anything to play the game. Any necessary information from the cards (websites, hidden messages, etc.) will undoubtedly be posted online by someone who did buy the cards. I guess this whole Viard thing would be a good example. I never bought the CD, but I did hear the message thanks to someone else who did.

Interesting fFact: I have yet to buy a single card. Not one. And yet, I have a nice assemblage of them. I have gotten by entirely on the kindness of those around me. NO you do not need to buy a single card ever. Mind you, it shows in my incredibly low leaderboard standing. And I really do intend to get some, as soon as i can either get some credit card space to buy them or horn-swoggle my local game-shop into carrying them.

Incidental update on my local shops: the shop of preference liked the cards and looked like he would be getting on board, but has fFinally decided he's not going to carry them, because he sees he would be one of the fFew places in north america to do so, and he would get orders fFrom everyone all over everywhere, and he really simply doesnt want that sort of mail-order based business. *SIGH* he doesn't want business? you know, I like the guy, but jeeeeeze!!

store number two turned me down quite fFlatly, after a couple weeks of fFetching information. his reason: his distributor doesnt carry them, so he won't order them. BLEH!!

My next pursuit is to talk to distributors directly. That will be an uphill battle i'm sure, so i'm not holding my breath, but it sounds like good fFun, of a kind.

I have one other shop i need to harrass. i fFear they too will reference the distributor, but they sometimes carry oddball things, so we'll see.

Another couple of potential shops shut me down without hesitation saying they only carry baseball cards and sports memorabilia. mm, prolly not their niche.

The short synopsis: it is like pulling teeth to get stores to buy things you want. Bastards. I'm considering becoming a wholesaler just to sell cards (well really, just to BUY cards, and sell them too, if people ask fFor them). But that would take capital I don't have.

Suggestions to other people who want to persuade their local shops: don't walk in with a large stack of cards and ask to see the purchasing manager. That was almost a critical stumbling block fFor me, cos i looked like i was selling stuff. Instead take in just a fFew samples of cards to show off. You will be asked "how did you get these?" (absolutely everyone asks that!) be prepared to have a nice answer like "someone sent them to me, and i liked them a lot. if you carry them, i'd buy more fFrom you, too". The important thing is to point out you are not selling anything, you are only wanting to buy them. (well i mean, unless you actualy ae selling...)

I appear to have gone off on a tangent.

Uhm.
