Swag

I'm just wondering people opinions on fan made swag. I'm generally refering to cafepress style setup.

How do people feel about it?

Is it ok for people to make money off it?

Would they support it more if it was run by Unfiction (and therefore profits going to support the site)?

Is anyone actually buying it? (Is there certain limits on price you would pay?)

thanks Smile

In general, I don't mind it, as long as it's well done and involves more than just slapping up a silly saying or inside joke up on a tshirt. Meaning, that if people are creative and come up with a good looking shirt with nice graphics, I think that's fine.

Cafepress is set up so it's not really possible to sell items at cost, so it's hard to not make a tiny bit of money off of it (albeit I doubt anyone makes a ton off of swag sales). I do think that anyone who increases the base price of items with an eye to making a higher profit margin per sale should be roundly shunned, however.

It looks like UF will be selling stuff at some point, if Spacely ever decides who won the tshirt contest. Wink

I have bought shirts in the past for Lockjaw and JMX and I won one for Chasing the Wish. But once you get your 3rd or 4th Cafepress shirt, the novelty wears off, I think.
