The three-sided character idea would of course give 8 permutations... would this be useful? Frequency analyses on this basis sheds no light on the matter...

Another line of attack: would it be worth considering the pattern as rows of horizontal lines followed by rows of vertical lines.. in a binary on/off pattern?

[certainly was a night on the tiles..]

Does the thing that looks like a "]" on the lower right strike anybody else as being an introduction? It's way out of frame with the rest of the message. Whatever this is decoded as, I think we need to turn this thing backwards.

binary foundation does anyone else think, while missing actual connections, maybe that is what the white lines are???, the greay areas beween white lines look kind of like building hallways and layouts, maybe that is the foundation part

After substituting the symbols to letters, I got:
AB CDEFCGH
IJKHLFCB
LC DK AHMKN
ADCJL LOK
KPABNFB
JBFEKQHK FH

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Using this subcracker: http://www.enweirdenment.org/SubCracker/SubCrackerPlugin.html

It translates to:
AN OBVIOYS QUESTION TO BE ASKED ABOUT THE EXANDIN UNIVERSE IS

With some corrections:
An obvious question to be asked about the expanding universe is

which is a part of a quote found here:
http://www.johnwhawkins.com/faith2.htm

"An obvious question to be asked about the expanding universe is: how did it all start?

emailing to howdiditallstartSPLATmaefamily.info gives:

I thought I had everything all figured out. Late one night, I got up the nerve to bring up the power outage to Bronco. I told him I knew what his plan was. I told him I knew that he was the one who was behind the power outage and that he had switched the data tapes to reprogram the micro robots. I told him I knew that he was going to sit back and let that asteroid destory the earth. For what seemed like an eternity, he just looked at me, laughing. "You've been reading too many comic books, young man", he said. He pulled out a file from his desk drawer and slid it across the desk. Inside it were security logs, photos, fingerprint analysis documents, eyewitness accounts - all pieces of evidence collected to prove that I was the one who tampered with the data tapes that night. I was dumbstruck. From that point on, I was forced into being Bronco's biggest supporter.

Thanks,

Steven

I dont think focusing on "binary foundation" is the right path. So far, in each and every puzzle the website address simply reflected back to the puzzle before it, but did not relate to the current puzzle.

ie warmandcozy.html - Quilt
poorfolk - Dostoevsky (the solve for alien gibberish)
etc

Nevermind

Here's what the team in IRC (I still think we neeed a name.. Lockjaw had Jawbreakers... ilovebees had beekeepers... TheBeast had Cloudmakers..) has so far:

The text Aveinan Cencgb Ouhlng rot-13s to Nirvana Prapto Bhuyat (thanks Dr. Oid!)

This is from the foreward to Arthur C Clarke's The Fountains of Paradise... a tale about a space elevater no less!

Thats abotu where we are now.. tryign to use that to somehow decipher the rest...

"Updated on the 21st"
Does that refer to the 21st chapter: 'Judgement', or would the number 21 need to be rot-13 as well? (Although, I don't even know if one could rot numbers. Embarassed )

Read through entire 21st chapter... nothing jumped out at me.. and for the hell of it, I tried Judgment as a Vigenere key. No joy

My observations on this new one:

For most of the code there are only "even" letters (even position in the alphabet), with the exception of V which does not appear at all.
But there is a small section of the code which contains "odd" letters separated by a Z, it's this one:
KUKSZUWKMW

So perhaps this becomes KUKS UWKMW.
Since there is no V, this might signify that X and Z are not letters. My guess would be that Z is a space and X is a period or something like that.
The even letters from B to T (that's 10 letters) would make up the letters used here, but I don't know how.
And the odd-letter words might be the key to that or work with the same technique which is used here.

The connection to The Fountains of Paradise escapes me. Probably just a little nudge towards inspiration for this ARG?
