Do you think there is a better way to figure out the previous puzzle?
Trial & error is not very satisfactory.

As an additional note, this jpeg is 7.jpg.

So you have 7.jpg, 77, 777, and 7777. All use of the good luck number, with good luck images. And Bronco's lucky number. And the title 'prosperitas' And Maya Angelou's luck quote. So Ok, I buy the 'luck' being shouted at us.

So what don't we know? That will lead to the answer to this puzzle:

1) Why is Bronco's lucky # 4179. is that the date 4/1/79? Is that an asteroid # (a la Toutatis?) That would make sense, especially since we've seen that asteroid name before...

2) What would our lucky # and/or asteroid name be, following that same logic?

Well I can say 7 = Iris, 77 = Frigga, 777 = Gutemberga, and 7777 = Consadole... at least based on lucky 7's.

Or did we have a number that we haven't used yet from earlier in this game?

I came up with thios in chat... I dunno.. hours ago.. and we've been boucnign it around, but I figured I'd mention it here on the forums.

We need to remember that these puzzles and messages weren't actually meant for us. They were meant for Seth. Thus, "your lucky number" may not be "our lucky number" but rather "Seth's lucky number". Now, I've emailed Seth with an update on our progress since last night and asked him about his "lucky number." Just in case that bears fruit.

At thios point, we need a reference for keywords we've gone through.

All Variations on the word 'luck' (goodluck, luck, lucky, etc)
A number of common lucky charms (clover, penny, etc)
Variations on Maya Angelous name (mayangelou, maya, angelou)
The Asteroid Toutatis
The Actual number 4179
Thispuzzlesucks (I did that one.. I was gettign punchy)

So.. what else can we think of?

Did you try any combinations of "luck" and "lady"?

ok I got two emails from stevie today. not much of interest

Hi Lisa Anne and Valentine,

Chocolate and banana cake sounds funny. Sometimes the Bubble Bop Café has bananas dipped in chocolate. They cut the banana in half and put a stick in the cut end then we can dip it in all different kinds of chocolate.

If my Daddy is outside the station I hope he is wearing his suit. The station is not really a bunch of buildings. They dug out a lot of rooms inside the asteroid, so it is like a bunch of caves, but you can't tell because the walls all look like normal walls. My Daddy has a mock-up of the basic plans. I'll send it to you.

I'll tell my Mommy about Davina's birthday and maybe we can all go see the movie together as a present for her. And maybe we can order something to be delivered on the New Dawn. I wonder if her Daddy will stay for a visit?

Alexandra sent an e-mail saying that the letter has the words cooling vent, and that it should be entered into the security screen for Steven Mae's page on the maefamily site

which we already knew.

the next message from her was in response to one i sent asking if she had received my last lerr, seeing as i hadn't heard from her.

Hi Lisa Anne and Valentine,

Yes, I got your letter about Canada! Poor Valentine, she missed you so!

OH! I forgot! You have a clue from your chairs going missing! Um… It says, "and now where will you sit? Not on the ground I hope. That would make your pants dirty."

My Daddy thinks all numbers are lucky ones, so he doesn't have a special lucky number. Uncle Seth doesn't believe in lucky numbers. I guess he never won the lottery.

When I asked my Daddy once if numbers ruled the world he said that numbers can change how you see something, but it is the whole picture that matters.

Stevie

the subjects are unimportant as they are just re:last subject i sent her

so there is what i have.

Yeah I got more or less the same answer from Stevie:

Quote:
Hi Hylenna!!

Wow! That is the same place Uncle Seth is stuck. He asked me what my Daddys lucky number was. My daddy doesn't have a lucky number. I mean, my Daddy loves all numbers. He would make every number lucky if he could.

When I asked my Daddy once if numbers ruled the world he said that numbers can change how you see something, but it is the whole picture that matters.

Good Luck!
Stevie

OH!
Forgot to mention that the subject of the mail Stevie sent me talking about the puzzle is "Luck is what you make for yourself"

Hmmm... my email server is down here, but seeing as we're getting told to look at the whole picture by stevie, and we have a picture of the man on the moon and a whole bunch of good luck charms, has anybody tried the "blue moon(s)" from Lucky Charms?

Okay, this may be a long shot, and I apologize for the death of my mail server which is stopping me from testing these myself... thanks out there guys... but...

7's have always been a big time favorite number of Bungie's (the people who made Halo) particularly in their Marathon series. Marathon was about a hollowed moon and involved penal asteroid colonies. I'm guessing the PMs are at least a little familiar with Bungie because of Ilovebees. Anyway, there's an article over on the Marathon story page titled Operation Tantalus (which is the romanization for the gallic god that asteroid 4179 is named for). It's the eighth result for googling asteroids seth. The story tells about a doctor whose last name is Seth who miraculously escaped asteroid 54 Parcae.
Anyway, too many coincidences in there for me, so if someone could check out parcaeSPLATmaefamily etc, I would much appreciate it.

I just tried it - no dice. Oh well, it was a much better idea than some of the things I've tried.

these clues are confusing

ok if Luck is where we find it to be - where did we find Luck?

under the helmet

under that square thing on the spacesuit

under a rock

and what did we find?

a rabbit's foot

a dragon's head

a horseshoe

what do we do with these now?

Okay, I definitely picked up on a clue, but I'm nto sure where it leads.
Abraxas decoded the following message from Raidar:
Quote:
Steven Mae told me once that Luck is where you find it be it on a fortune cookie a random fancy or a deep held belief in yourself if you reduce your obstacles to the smallest number you will be able to count your blessings. I will train my sensors on Professor Bronco who arrived station same dateSteven Mae disappearance. Stevie has faith her friends will overcome all challenges

If you've been following this game from the beginning, this may sound a little familiar.
If your name was 4 letters long (like "Seth", for example), "Overcome Obstacles" was the...ahem...Lucky Message you would've recieved from the puzzle in Orbicon newsletter #3. Take a look back at that newsletter:
http://orbiconcorp.com/newsletters/issue3.pdf
U: star1ight
P: s0bright
Notice that 7 is the number used for this message. Coincidence? Probably not. However, I've tried emailing overcomeobstaclesSPLATmaefamily.info, but have not recieved a reply. I've also tried the other 7 messages:
1: dontgiveuphopeSPLATmaefamily.info
2: thestarsareinyourfutureSPLATmaefamily.info
3: alwayslookforwardSPLATmaefamily.info
4: showyourtrueheartSPLATmaefamily.info
5: elevateyourselfSPLATmaefamily.info
6: igniteyourpassionSPLATmaefamily.info
8: reclaimyouSPLATmaefamily.info

But alas, no hits (I also tried asteroidSPLATmaefamily.info, but i think someone may have already tried a few posts up). I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about the way Raidar says, "if you reduce your obstacles to the smallest number you will be able to count your blessings". At any rate, I definitely get the feeling we're being pointed to something in that puzzle. Any thoughts?
