[INTERACTION][EMAIL] Emails with Seth 12/20/05

Sooo.. emails with Seth! After sending him the original Progress Report, I got it back with some additions he'd like to see, so I forwarded them to the Mapster.

Now, I sent him the updated progress report.. or thought I did

Seth,

Well, here's an updated Progress Report. We had to add a bit more "filler" to keep it looking professional.. the additions you requested created an unhealthy amount of white space. Let me know if its good.

Oh God, I sound just like Dr Russell - the most evil Aerospace professor ever!

We continue to hammer our heads over the current puzzle. This one is pretty vague and we don't have much to go on. My personal theory has been trying to find records of an exit 136 (the sum of the digits 1-16) on the OLD longer version of Arizona's SR-85. Other members are trying different approaches but so far, it could be goign better. We shall persevre however.

One thing I feel I should give you is some additional contact information for myself as a representative of the rest of the team. We're all still a little jumpy after you got called into Bronco's office, so I figured this might be a good idea in case you need to reach us more quickly.

My AOL Instant Messenger Screen Name is JakRhee - Dont ask why.. its a long story

MY cellphone number is (I'm not telling YOU guys!) I don't know how much good THAT will do you, though. Do you even have phones up there? I'd imagine not... though you are awfully close to the sattillites Smile. I bet the roaming charges are killer though, heh.

Another note, I hear you're looking pretty worn out these days. I know how you feel, do to this and various other tasks I had gotten a grand total of 5 hours of sleep in a total of three days until just yesterday when I collapsed in the middle of the day. However, I realized something.

Rest is a weapon.

If you push yourself to exhaustion, your thought process will grow fuzzy and less sharp... and then you'll be less able to find Steven. Not to mention, if you weaken your immune system that you get sick. I don't know what Wasilei's procedures are.. but consider if you did get sick and as a result they put you off the station? Then what would you do?

I'm not saying not to work hard... we all are, but don't kill yourself either. It won't do Steven any good.

-Andrew

I then got a response around an hour later:

It seems that you forgot to attach the progress report to your last email.

Thanks for the contact info. Would it help you and your team if we had a chat room or something similar set up where we could do a little live brainstorming?

I did finally get some rest last night. Davina made this incredible chicken and dumpling dish for me. She urged me to get some rest and go to sleep early after I ate it. I didn't intend on taking her advice, but once I ate two platefuls of warm comfort food I fell fast asleep on the couch. I felt much better the next morning having gotten my first full night's rest since I've been on the station.

Seth

I *immediatly* emailed him back saying that we'd love to have a live chat and that we were all familar with mIRC and IRC java applets... as well as actually ATTACHING the Progress Report this time.

Don't judge me! Anyone can forget an attachment! Embarassed

So as I said.. I replied to him and sent him the Progress Report this time.

I wrote:
Seth,

Sorry about that. It's attached now. Looks like I'm the one who needs sleep, hunh?

I'm sure a chatroom would be a wonderful idea. Alot of us use MIRC and associated java applets.

And I'm glad you finally got some sleep.

-Andrew

A bit short.. I was exhausted.

I got this reply just recently

Seth wrote:
Andrew,

So IRC would be the best option for the brainstorming chatroom? If you would set it up and email me the details, we could perhaps do some work on this current puzzle together?

Seth

I have now set a channel up for use for this. I've got a dummy logging the chat, so it;'ll be recorded and enaxor and I will both stay in the chat room so if one of us crashes someone is still there. I'll email Seth with the info and ask him if there is a specific time he'd like to meet with us.

here's the info

Channel: #InquiringMinds
Server: irc.chat-solutions.org:6667 (same as #orbital)

Now remember.. this will be an INGAME chatroom, that means not METAing.. you're in that channel, you're in character.
