London Christmas / New Year Meet Up Extravaganza!

Already posted in the Puzzles forum, but thought I'd put it in here to hustle up a bit of interest... The rather splendid European Chris has suggested a venue for us to have a few beers at, talk about general rubbish and (of course) exchange cards and tales.

Annnd cue Chris!

"December 29th - 5.00pm
The Cockpit pub-EC4 (I thought the city would be good as it's fairly close to Liverpool st/Blackfriars and easy to get to from Kings Cross, London Bridge and Charing cross so people coming from out of London can get to it easily enough-also a short bus ride up Fleet street into town if we wanted to go there)

http://www.fancyapint.com/main_site/thepubs/pub173.htm

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=EC4V+5BY&hl=en

(the map doesn't quite depict where the pub is though-it's on the southern corner of St Andrew's hill and Ireland yard)"

So, come one come all - let's have you! A few people have already expressed an interest, so why not tag along. We won't bite, promise!

I'm busy, sorry. It's really not a good time for me.

I'll sure try and come along! Trying to be in London for NYE anyway, so I can come up a little earlier for this. Sounds great.

Mix up of dates on my behalf, I might be able to come down. if I do, I'll be with my brother Matt and my friend Kieran. Any chance of pushing that 5pm back a little

I'm sure I could walk out of work earlier-not much will get done between Christmas and the New Year-what time are you thinking?

You already know I'm coming. Don't care what time or day, as long it happens between christmas and new year.

I'm not sure... just I'd like to get there a little earlier as I'm coming from Witham, Essex. Wink

I'm coming as well! It looks like we could talk about what to do with Kurt and Violet. I'll try to bring some puzzle cards over.

Bah, Tish Posh, I am 15, and enjoy these events immensely, Tanner, one of our oldest members, also enjoys these. We don't spend the evening laughing at jokes relating to Fermat's last theorum, or scratching our heads over Differently Lethal. Most likely, we'll just end up sitting in a bar all night, with certain individuals getting inebriated, swapping the odd card, harrassing the odd innocent bystander with an easy red or orange, and making subtle references to Elephant and Castle, small children and pensioners, and an umbrella, a duckpond, and a lack of imagination. After the Clapham event, the most intellectually challenging conversation was to whether the leitmarks said "R1" or "21", European Chris recommending me a book (which I can't find anywhere), and a teeny bit of puzzling over the few 2nd wave cards we got. Don't worry. All Ages, abilities, races, creeds, sexualities, social classes, and smell are welcome. But no women Wink
