And, given the "SSE" that I can see in the picture, I would assume that that is the book that we are looking at (The Odyssey).

Got an email from mi.5548@gmail

mi.5548@gmail wrote:

I suppose that I've gone and disregarded what I said I would give the winner.

A picture? How about a chat.

Parliament doesn't make for the best conversations, and I can't really be social anymore.

If you would like to schedule a time to talk via AIM, please respond as soon as you can.

Has anyone else recived a email from parliament? I want to confirm the email addy so I know it's not somebody OOG screwing around.

I havn't responded yet. I wasn't quite prepared to talk to this person. I have no idea what this game about.

EDIT: I had a chat with mi55548

AIM chat with mi55548 wrote:
mi55548: Hello.
delusional969: hi
mi55548: Congratulations.
mi55548: You are quite the quick one.
delusional969: thanks igusse
mi55548: It wasn't the hardest code to crack.
mi55548: But you certainly made quick work of it. I'm suprised.
mi55548: Parliament would appreciate a fellow talent.
delusional969: no , i have to admit i still havn't figured out the first one
mi55548: And which one would that be?
mi55548: My first code?
delusional969: um mabey i'm not sure who i'm spaeking to
delusional969: is this not parliment?
delusional969: please excuse my spelling it's a product of not trying to type fast.
delusional969: or trying to really
mi55548: No, this is not Parliament.
mi55548: He's currently bound.
delusional969: ahhh isee now
mi55548: And now refusing to eat. He asks that I answer a few questions. I won't hear of it.
delusional969: so how can i be of service?
mi55548: There is one more code coming up.
delusional969: ok
mi55548: It is extremely hard to crack.
mi55548: Almost impossible, really.
mi55548: Although, with little bit of information it's simple.
mi55548: Much like anything else.
mi55548: You have to realize.
mi55548: I'm not a kidnapper.
mi55548: Do you think I'm a kidnapper?
mi55548: I'm really, just trying to save him.
delusional969: i don't pretend to know what you or your motives are.
mi55548: I don't want him to dissapear like everyone else. I don't want him to get involved.
delusional969: would you like to fill me in alittle
mi55548: Methargo is not what it seems.
mi55548: Read what Parliament has had to say.
mi55548: But I will tell you this, as a companion piece.
delusional969: i have read his blog
mi55548: Methargo is not what it appears to be. And Parliament is not aware of that. It's simply, beastlike, in proportions.
mi55548: It is only a facet of something that could swallow the world.
delusional969: does parlimaent work for methargo?
mi55548: No.
mi55548: I believe I'm the only one left.
mi55548: It's so lonely sometimes.
mi55548: I know Ridley is gone.
delusional969: oh so you work for them?
mi55548: Methargo has left. Until they reappear again, somehwere else.
mi55548: In New England, they have left.
mi55548: Parliament knows this.
delusional969: what do they do?
mi55548: He's the only one to have seen the ghostly, empty building. I'm suprised they left anything behind.
mi55548: I can't speak of them anymore.
delusional969: ok than, now what?
mi55548: Like I said, they are only a fraction of what is the world's only threat.
delusional969: so what can you hope to do?
mi55548: Nothing.
mi55548: Nothing.
mi55548: Nothing can be done.
mi55548: And that is why I have Parliament.
mi55548: He needs to know.
mi55548: Parliament needs to be fed.
delusional969: something can always be done.
delusional969: never give up
mi55548: Not when you're fighting the world.
mi55548: I have to go.
mi55548: Another code is coming.
delusional969: alright thanks for the talk
mi55548: Hopefully everyone will realize...
mi55548: Nothing can fight it.
mi55548 signed off at 5:22:41 PM.

Ok so I still don't have any idea what's going on. Just that Methargo is part of some evil world domination type of thing.

New code,

"The code will suffice.

6355824656668173654263114466645181744673745156_8354557564667346

Since this is probably impossible to decode without any help, I will give you these very important nudges in the right direction:

The underscore represents an underscore, and movement in two directions is key in this cipher."

Delusional, it's a bit late, but I do confirm the email address.

Also, I'm about to go do this now. Remember the previous code that I solved, wherein each number can represent one of two letters? Going to try substituting those in and see what happens.

I was thinking of that soon after I posted the code. But remember it said movement in two directions was key.

Well, we can be fairly sure that it's a literary quote.

So has anybody been working on cracking the code? It's been almost a day and we have a week of time to figure it out.

For what it's worth, mates. As it turns out, most of us were headed in the wrong direction with this.

Quote:
DTPowell02 (7:42:38 PM): Hello
DTPowell02 (7:43:06 PM): I tend to introduce myself as Daniel, so I suppose I'll follow that trend.
mi55548 is idle at 7:50:24 PM.
mi55548 is no longer idle at 7:52:41 PM.
mi55548 (7:52:48 PM): Hello Daniel.
DTPowell02 (7:52:56 PM): How are you this fine evening?
mi55548 (7:53:06 PM): Decent. Moreso night, where we are.
mi55548 (7:53:14 PM): But that's beside the point.
DTPowell02 (7:53:22 PM): Ah. So New Year's has made it's way.
mi55548 (7:53:34 PM): The point is, I have to go feed Parliament. Not yet. PCT for me.
mi55548 (7:53:38 PM): I'll be back shortly.
mi55548 (7:53:41 PM): Stay put.
DTPowell02 (7:53:41 PM): Ok.
DTPowell02 (8:01:15 PM): If you will pardon me, I need some pills. My head is being quite bothersome.
mi55548 (8:02:36 PM): I'm back.
mi55548 (8:02:49 PM): Grabbing pills?
mi55548 (8:02:55 PM): I'll wait.
DTPowell02 (8:02:57 PM): Now anymore.
DTPowell02 (8:02:59 PM): Not*
mi55548 (8:03:00 PM): Parliament has been fed.
mi55548 (8:03:11 PM): I think he's getting sick of the turkey.
DTPowell02 (8:03:21 PM): He should be thankful.
mi55548 (8:03:23 PM): And again, beside the point.
mi55548 (8:03:30 PM): He should, I suppose.
mi55548 (8:03:32 PM): But then again.
mi55548 (8:03:51 PM): If you're things were stolen and you were held captive, would you be happy?
mi55548 (8:03:53 PM): Thankful?
mi55548 (8:03:58 PM): I seriously doubt it.
mi55548 (8:04:02 PM): It's alright.
DTPowell02 (8:04:04 PM): Maybe if I understood the purpose of my captivity.
DTPowell02 (8:04:12 PM): He does not know he is being helped.
mi55548 (8:04:16 PM): Even without speaking, Parliament and I seem to understand each other's purposes.
DTPowell02 (8:04:22 PM): Ah
mi55548 (8:04:25 PM): Know he is starting to understand.
mi55548 (8:04:35 PM): I've explained again and again what I know.
mi55548 (8:04:41 PM): Althought that's very very little.
DTPowell02 (8:04:47 PM): He sought Methargo, yet it isn't a "place", per se.
mi55548 (8:04:54 PM): But I feel the big picture. I think it's ingrained.
mi55548 (8:05:01 PM): Exactly.
mi55548 (8:05:05 PM): You're correct.
mi55548 (8:05:10 PM): And very elegant, might I add.
DTPowell02 (8:05:16 PM): Much thanks.
mi55548 (8:05:24 PM): How are interested readers coming along with the code?
DTPowell02 (8:05:41 PM): It's quite hard. Myself, I have a small idea, and trying to work it out.
DTPowell02 (8:05:52 PM): It would help if it had any relation to anything previous?
mi55548 (8:06:07 PM): No, not in any way.
DTPowell02 (8:06:18 PM): That doesn't help the process.
DTPowell02 (8:06:28 PM): Are you a fan of the Odyssey?
mi55548 (8:06:40 PM): Well obviously.
mi55548 (8:06:41 PM):
DTPowell02 (8:07:03 PM): I have a feeling the letter from Ridley, morse code that is, describes Odysseus.
DTPowell02 (8:07:18 PM): Not sure about the 18 lovers, if you even know about the letter.
DTPowell02 (8:07:20 PM): But the rest fits.
mi55548 (8:07:20 PM): Hah.
mi55548 (8:07:31 PM): I do.
mi55548 (8:07:34 PM): Know about it, that is.
mi55548 (8:07:52 PM): Whether or not it has to do with the Odyssey, I seriously doubt it does.
DTPowell02 (8:08:03 PM): Ah.
mi55548 (8:08:07 PM): Just another piece of the Methargo puzzle.
mi55548 (8:08:12 PM): Another transmission.
DTPowell02 (8:08:20 PM): Is Ridley alive?
mi55548 (8:08:48 PM): Ridley...
DTPowell02 (8:09:01 PM): Ridley York, from the letters.
mi55548 (8:09:05 PM): Oh I know.
mi55548 (8:09:14 PM): I was remembering.
mi55548 (8:09:20 PM): I met him in passing really.
mi55548 (8:09:25 PM): He must be gone.
mi55548 (8:09:28 PM): Along with the others.
mi55548 (8:09:53 PM): Tom.
mi55548 (8:09:55 PM): Although.
DTPowell02 (8:10:00 PM): He was part of an interaction dept. From your understanding, is Methargo internet based?
mi55548 (8:10:03 PM): I witnessed him being put in the earth.
DTPowell02 (8:10:13 PM): Tom..
DTPowell02 (8:10:15 PM): Interesting.
mi55548 (8:10:16 PM): I'm sorry, I will answer your questions.
mi55548 (8:10:19 PM): Methargo.
DTPowell02 (8:10:23 PM): It's quite all right.
mi55548 (8:10:24 PM): Methargo has it's hand in everything.
mi55548 (8:10:36 PM): It's not even the hand.
DTPowell02 (8:10:43 PM): From the way Methargo published a letter, it would appear internet based.
mi55548 (8:10:58 PM): Methargo is the everything. The idea, the whole of Methargo, is everything.
DTPowell02 (8:11:07 PM): Ah.
mi55548 (8:11:17 PM): Of course, like I have explained before
DTPowell02 (8:11:20 PM): That rules out a band of people.
mi55548 (8:11:27 PM): Methargo is only a small piece.
mi55548 (8:11:42 PM): Oh, my.
mi55548 (8:11:43 PM): No.
DTPowell02 (8:11:58 PM): That route of thinking didn't get much attention from me.
mi55548 (8:11:59 PM): Imagine the entirety of a country working against you.
mi55548 (8:12:06 PM): Working on a collaborative effort.
mi55548 (8:12:12 PM): Automaton labor.
mi55548 (8:12:16 PM): Automaton idea.
mi55548 (8:12:34 PM): Grasp that, and mulitply to find out Methargo's part in the whole.
mi55548 (8:12:42 PM): Eighteen lovers.
DTPowell02 (8:12:45 PM): Methargo, an idea of overrun by machines? That would explain the automated care.
DTPowell02 (8:12:54 PM): Car.*
mi55548 (8:12:59 PM): Oh no.
mi55548 (8:13:03 PM): You're thinking too small.
DTPowell02 (8:13:06 PM): Ah.
DTPowell02 (8:13:11 PM): Narrow minded, a bad habit.
mi55548 (8:13:14 PM): Automaton in the sense of the word.
mi55548 (8:13:20 PM): Automaton as in machine-LIKE.
DTPowell02 (8:13:32 PM): Like, of course.
mi55548 (8:13:46 PM): We are not living in a science fiction book, to inject some humor into the situation.
mi55548 (8:14:01 PM): Although, there are two science fiction books that would come to mind.
mi55548 (8:14:04 PM): ...
DTPowell02 (8:14:19 PM): I'm not a science fiction fan, I wouldn't have a clue.
mi55548 (8:14:21 PM): Eighteen lovers, eighteen lovers. The true meaning of that needs to be kept hidden.
mi55548 (8:14:35 PM): If it was discovered, everyone would know.
mi55548 (8:14:43 PM): Everything would be seen.
DTPowell02 (8:14:43 PM): Well after much search for the eighteen lovers,
mi55548 (8:14:47 PM): Tell me Daniel.
DTPowell02 (8:14:53 PM): I decided to halt after being bombarded by pornography.
mi55548 (8:14:57 PM): Hah.
mi55548 (8:14:59 PM): Funny.
mi55548 (8:15:03 PM): You're clever.
mi55548 (8:15:09 PM): Tell me something.
mi55548 (8:15:30 PM): Would you rather live in a world without independent thought, or not live at all.
mi55548 (8:15:38 PM): They are both forms of a certain hell.
mi55548 (8:15:44 PM): Which would you prefer.
mi55548 (8:15:45 PM): ?
DTPowell02 (8:16:35 PM): To what extent is the independent thought taken away? Brainwashed as children by a government like corporation, or a device truly taking away our ability to think?
DTPowell02 (8:16:40 PM): Not that it matters, I suppose.
mi55548 (8:16:52 PM): It does not matter how that state is reached.
DTPowell02 (8:16:56 PM): I think I would have to go with death, it's the lesser of the Hell's.
mi55548 (8:17:04 PM): Imagine your body moving and your mind processing without being aware of it.
mi55548 (8:17:14 PM): Now, this isn't the threat.
DTPowell02 (8:17:17 PM): Couldn't begin to comprehend.
mi55548 (8:17:24 PM): But the soul of the problem rings true, I suppose.
mi55548 (8:17:38 PM): Constant awareness of being numb?
mi55548 (8:17:44 PM): I certainly would take death, as well.
DTPowell02 (8:18:03 PM): A state of vegetation, in a sense. Vegetation with no ability to be euthanized.
mi55548 (8:18:11 PM): Not necessarily.
mi55548 (8:18:22 PM): Ahh, I'm rambling.
mi55548 (8:18:27 PM): Daniel, a code for you.
mi55548 (8:18:31 PM): Rather, a clue.
mi55548 (8:19:13 PM): You've been quite the sport, and I can see that a seed has been planted and that maybe, hopefully, you can reap the knowledge and be aware of everyone's last.
mi55548 (8:19:21 PM): That is all I will say on that matter.
mi55548 (8:19:30 PM): The code, to lead you and the followers.
DTPowell02 (8:19:46 PM): Interesting, I must say.
mi55548 (8:19:55 PM): It involves movement in two directions, like I have told you.
DTPowell02 (8:20:05 PM): Ah, my direction of thought.
mi55548 (8:20:12 PM): Those two directions are the same directions in which sets of characters lie.
DTPowell02 (8:20:17 PM): Would this movement be graph-like.
mi55548 (8:20:34 PM): This cyper is set on the two lines that graph the world.
mi55548 (8:20:40 PM): But, it's not a map.
mi55548 (8:20:41 PM): Hah.
mi55548 (8:20:48 PM): That would be ridicilous.
DTPowell02 (8:20:56 PM): Just a little.
DTPowell02 (8:21:06 PM): It would mean a place, which I'm sure the code isn't.
mi55548 (8:21:11 PM): Look at the sunset. It sits on the horizon. The sun rises.
mi55548 (8:21:21 PM): Up, across.
mi55548 (8:21:38 PM): Sun rising, sun sinking behind that palpable line.
mi55548 (8:21:41 PM): Two directions.
DTPowell02 (8:22:06 PM): Argh, my mind knows it but won't spit it out for my body to process.
DTPowell02 (8:22:09 PM): I'll sleep on that one.
mi55548 (8:22:32 PM): Hah.
mi55548 (8:22:48 PM): In closing, tommorow will bring half of the cyper.
mi55548 (8:22:56 PM): Literally, half. Of the cypher.
mi55548 (8:23:16 PM): After that, it should be extremely easy to solve. If not, another day, another half. Then everyone will continue.
DTPowell02 (8:23:30 PM): I'll make sure to be the one to get it.
mi55548 (8:23:32 PM): We've probably talked to long.
mi55548 (8:23:38 PM): Too long.
mi55548 (8:23:39 PM): Rather.
DTPowell02 (8:23:49 PM): Of coure. I'm glad for this opportunity.
DTPowell02 (8:23:55 PM): You're second code had impeccable timing.
mi55548 (8:23:57 PM): We must end this conversation now. No meaningless risks.
DTPowell02 (8:24:03 PM): It was solved before I saw it.
mi55548 (8:24:03 PM): Eighteen lovers.
mi55548 (8:24:06 PM): Must end.
mi55548 (8:24:08 PM): Goodbye.
DTPowell02 (8:24:10 PM): Goodnight.

Science fiction novels, although many have a kind of brainwashed, failed utopia, what first came to my mind was 1984. Only vaguely similar, and hopefully we can get some more connections.

I was thinking that this has something to do with some sort of grid, and that the numbers represent "how many up and how many across" to count. At first thought, I thought that since there is an 8 on the right side of the code and an 8 on the left side of the code, that there were 64 squares in the grid. I can't find anything for that though.

So, now I am lost, but feel that I might be heading in the right direction.

Also thinking that the "horizon" is a starting point from which to count. Still not sure where to go with that though. But, I am working on it.

Original thought:

I thought that the code was a virgenere, using the numbers on the right to tell me how many letters in the alphabet to count, the numbers on the left telling me how many letters backwards to count.

Came up with:

VVSYWUVUUUSZTXUVWYUXZZWWUUUWVZSZTWWUTXTWVZVU_HCEDEEGEFDFFGCDF.

Then using the right letters as the key and the left letters as the encryption, I would get an answer.

Got nothing from that ofcourse. Smile

Added point: there are 46 numbers on the left side and 16 numbers on the right. Maybe someone else can tell me what that means, if anything.

EDIT: there are 64 squares on a chess board. Could this be "CheckMate"?

The blog was updated and now gives half the cipher.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

----. , !
--1 2 3 4 5
--6 7 8 9 0
\ A B C D E $

If, in two days, nobody has found the answer, then I will post the full cipher. The dashes are not part of the half, I'm only using them as to space the characters out correctly.
