Well, success at last. I had a mail this morning from Ellen Moriyama at Seaside Press to say that I've been accredited as a "co-author/researcher" on their upcoming book of stories from Earth. That's if he has time to help me with it, of course, given how much time he's spending with Miranda. Honestly, it seems like every man who comes into contact with that woman is instantly besotted. I mean, not that I mind Cymbalisty swishing down the Ceretin so that he can spend hours discussing new classification systems with her - it keeps him away from me, at least. But there is now a steady stream of first-year Academy students making ever-more-complicated requests for material from the archives and asking if they can talk to "the other librarian, you know, the young one". I mean, she's only about three months younger than me!

Ah well, maybe I'm just frustrated - I've been trying to arrange a date with Jason but he's been mysteriously elusive, always going away for the weekends on unspecified "projects", or just "busy" in the evenings. Even Cymbalisty seems to be having more luck than me - the other evening I saw him actually leave the office with a woman. For a moment, I thought it was the ubiquitous Miranda, but it turns out not - it was Anna Heath, one of the puzzle scribes. Kurt says that she and Cymbalisty are old friends, which came as something of a surprise to me. I wouldn't have thought that Cymbalisty had any friends at all, never mind old ones.

Continuing with the spec that she's some sort of 3P agent, is it possible she has some sort of pheromone technology? Be a great way to get people to do what you want them to.

 		...or Miranda could just be really fit. Much simpler than expensive/risky pheromone technology. Wink

I just think a comment like that tells us more about Violet than anything else. She's feeling a bit insecure/jealous. 'Frustrated', as she herself says. She's restless. Bored. Maybe PMSy. Razz

EDIT: Now I think about it...remember Kurt's blocked nose when he went out with Miranda? He also mentioned his 'natural immunity' to anaesthetics. That might be significant (you don't hang a gun on the wall if it isn't gonna be...etc) but I'm still a little wary of the pheromone angle. Just seems a bit too much.

Call me terribly suspicious, but I don't like these people having friends...every time a new link between a member of the Academy team and someone else appears my conspiracy cogs start turning.

 		I would continue worrying about Jason and Miranda, but I think, if need be, Kurt can check on Anna and find out what her link with Cymbalisty is.

I would rank it about the same value as when Tippy was caught by the Sentinel in Helix Hesh's house. Anna's been a non-factor up until now, and something tells me she'll remain that way. She doesn't seem the type to be involved in all this mess; she has more pressing matters, being responsible for a good deal of our cards, and her little kid.

Of course, I'd still keep an eye on her.
Just not as closely as I'd watch Miranda.

(And could Miranda really be that fit to be pulling attraction left and right?)
