Yeah.

I don't think it's the number so much as the location.

Payphone Project gives us this:

Ahh, the payphone project would have been a good place to go. I was using google. Any word yet on what time this may be occurring? I know exactly where that location is.

I was just IM'ed by Don Andrews on a secure channel. I was able to get off work a little early, I'll be meeting his nephew tonight. I'll let you guys know what I find out.

Who is Don, anyway? Is he the "friend" that Michael referenced in that one chat log? Who is his nephew, for that matter? What reason does he have for giving us information, if he isn't Michael's "friend"? The only thing that he said to me that wasn't basic meeting information was this :

Quote:
[13:38] SecureChannel IM: Hopefully we'll be able to bring this chapter of this horrid affair to a close.

I'm just curious about the sudden appearance of this character, and his e-mails to most of you guys with little explanation.

Edit: So it seems like this "release" that Michael was hoping someone would take into their own hands is what Don has to hand off tonight, and that's it's been somehow "compromised"? Is there anything I'm missing that I should know before tonight?

Dasro, are you going alone? Do you want a phone contact for before and after, so we know you're OK?

Yeah, alone is seems, unless another North Carolinian wants to volunteer to tag along. a Phone contact might not be too bad of an idea. Sounds like Krystyn already volunteered Wink, but if anyone wants to be a backup, PM your number.

Also, HI! I'm Dasro Kast. I was pulled into this game by the ARGN news update saying that there was a live meet in North Carolina, which instantly got my attention Wink. Glad to be here.

Development. Earlier, while talking with Don and discussing a meet time, he said that his nephew may have to meet me in High Point instead, and that he would get back to me later today. Then, I just had this IM conversation with him.

Quote:
Session Start (dasro kast:SecureChannel IM): Mon Jan 16 15:21:05 2006
[15:21] SecureChannel IM: My nephew has been killed.
[15:21] Dasro Kast: What???
[15:21] Dasro Kast: What happened?
[15:22] SecureChannel IM: I don't know
[15:22] SecureChannel IM: .
[15:22] SecureChannel IM: They intercepted the conversation.
[15:23] SecureChannel IM: I need to go away for a while.
[15:23] Dasro Kast: are you in danger too?
[15:23] Dasro Kast: What happened to Michael?
[15:23] SecureChannel IM: I would assume so.
[15:23] SecureChannel IM: Michael's dead.
[15:23] SecureChannel IM: My nephew is dead.
[15:23] Dasro Kast: who is doing this?
[15:23] SecureChannel IM: The Traitor.
[15:23] Dasro Kast: Who is the traitor?
[15:23] Dasro Kast: Bivens?
[15:23] SecureChannel IM: No.
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: Bivens is my real name.
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: The Traitor is Roberts.
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: I'll resume contact in a few months.
[15:24] Dasro Kast: What can we do ?
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: For now, I must go.
[15:24] Dasro Kast: Be safe
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: At this time, there is nothing you can do.
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: I'll speak with you around May or June.
[15:24] Dasro Kast: Watch yourself
[15:24] SecureChannel IM: For now, I hope this chapter of this affair is over.
[15:25] SecureChannel IM: I thank you for your assistance.
[15:25] SecureChannel IM: Take care of yourself.
[15:25] SecureChannel IM: Goodbye.
[15:25] Dasro Kast: What about the release4?
[15:26] SecureChannel IM: The Release was compromised.
[15:26] SecureChannel IM: The Item has been destroyed.
[15:26] Dasro Kast: What is the release?
[15:26] SecureChannel IM: I'm sure you can find multiple duplicates in your wallet, though.
[15:26] SecureChannel IM: The Item was nothing more than a dollar bill.
[15:26] SecureChannel IM: Ancient Value, remember?
[15:26] Dasro Kast: Why was this important?
[15:27] SecureChannel IM: It was the Item.
[15:27] SecureChannel IM: I know nothing more.
[15:27] SecureChannel IM: But I must go now.
[15:27] SecureChannel IM: Take care.

Uh.

You got off work early for this, and then they canceled.

Uh.

Yes, what krystyn just said. That's incredibly not cool. Trust go whoosh.

Also, Bivens? So, the guy who was holding Michael, then. Rolling Eyes

Christ.

Well, I hope these guys don't ever trailhead anything in my LJ again, to say the least. I was having a hard enough time with the whole codes-with-no-real-story idea, and the meetup seemed like a step in the right direction (that direction being SUBSTANCE.)

Now this - this is just offensive. Hopefully the game rightfully implodes at this point and I don't keep getting ridiculously context-lacking emails with obnoxiously cryptic encoded messages.

I was wondering what you'd have to say about this, Sam Wink.

Krystyn and Omnie, fortunately, "taking off work" was no big deal, so no worries on me. The mind does boggle at the point of it all, to carefully choose my words Wink.

On the bright side, I've now developed a brand new strongly-held opinion! I don't have too many of those, you know. This one involves the wrongness of encouraging flawed games without giving frank criticism. PMs demand a huge commitment of time, effort, and trust from the players. In return, we have a right to get the same commitment back from the PMs. (When both sides do their part, it's a beautiful thing.) I'd previously felt conflicted about criticizing someone's hard work, but no, because we return that hard work while playing. It's a mutual thing, and there are mutual responsibilities. I'm glad I got that straightened out in my head now. It's messy enough in there as it is.

Yeah, I felt bad about being bitchy earlier, but although my criticsms were abstract and poorly worded, I should have expressed my frustration with the aggressive-yet-pointless direction this game was going from the very first trailhead. Perhaps that may have been more constructive in the long run.

Mike Adams PMs: You'll never work in this town again! ;-P
