Got an email from Seth on the The Inept connection I made and he poste don his blog

a few days ago, I sent him

Quote:
Seth,

I don't know if you keep an eye on the anti-Orbicon websites such as The Inept. I know you consider them suspects, bu tdo you watch there updates? If not, check out The Inept, immediately. I give you the following paragraphs from the latest entry, as well as my conclusions following the quote.

"The Inept has heard rumors that the FDA is preparing to refuse to give approval of Orbicon's anti-degenerative drugs Accrescossin and Accrescarnin due to serious and life threatening interactions with other medications, specifically Sulfonylureas, Meglitinides and Biguanides which affect insulin production and sensitivity to insulin. (3),(4) By increasing the availability and action of insulin, these drugs can lead to hypoglycemia in patients. The German Commission E will soon release a monograph on studies that will point out the drug interactions that make Orbicon's revolutionary drugs unsafe when combined with many other pharmaceuticals including herbs and vitamins.

The symptoms of the hypoglycemia these drugs cause are also symptoms of other illnesses and may go unnoticed. Moodiness and irritability may be thought to be caused by stress, a headache may be dismissed as tension from a long day. Each person reacts to hypoglycemia in their own way, and if they miss the signs, they could end up in a coma, have seizures or stroke, and end up with lasting brain damage.(5)"

Essentially, a combination of the Orbicon produced drugs Accrescossin or Accrescarnin with one of a few other mroe common drugs will cause an increased sensitivity to insulin, which Rasmussen was presumably taking, to cause hypoglycemia and potantially a coma. The fact that its an Orbicon drug makes me beleive that THIS is what caused Rasmussen's coma and may be what is making it so difficult fot Cordelia to treat him. Please pass this information on to her immediatly.. it may help!

And he has now replied:

Quote:
Andrew,

Thanks for the tip about the Inept site. As you probably already know, Rasmussen has come out of his coma. It is quite interesting that the Inept just happens to have an article about this subject matter when Rasmussen, a diabetic man on the station that they should know nothing about, was in a coma. Seems like too much of a coincidence to me. I haven't yet found a connection between Rasmussen and the Inept though. I'm hoping to be able to talk to him tomorrow a bit more.

Seth

I'm going to suggest to him that a member of our group try to ingratiate themselves to The Inept and see if they can find out, from The Inept, if they have a connection to Rasmussen or on the Station in general. At this point I think such action is warranted.. while that person doesn thave to reveal that they are involved in investigating Steven Mae, they coul djust reveal other facts about events on the station they know... such as talking about the smell, or even the beak-in ... in order to gain The Inept's trust.
