I do not see how you could have gotten "Hello World" using cubes. I get a string of text starting with "Hell¬Ã". Care to explain further how you did this?
Double checking my work, I still arrived at the same answer. So I checked the files I uploaded to my site and was shocked to see a difference between them. I don't understand how it happened, but I apologize. I can only guess that somehow the file got corrupted during upload. The copy I've been working with was gotten directly off of Raidar. Considering the recent events on the station, I thought for a moment that someone might have gained access to one of the two versions of the file and changed it to hide something. I can't think of a way that could have actually happened though. Is it possible?

Anyway, here is the version I've been using, uploaded again. And again, I deeply apologize for any confusion.

In related news, I've double checked the other frames sent to me by Andrew and have gotten the same results. So far the mathematical processes used are...

#1 - Odds
#2 - Cubes
#3 - ??????
#4 - Primes
#5 - Aronson's sequence
#6 - Connoll sequence
#7 - Evens

Another location from static
Andrew sent me another location, this one is from frame #4...

"You'll want to take the two times ten
Look to the left every now and then

So far we have locations from frame #4, #6 and #7 and other text in frames #1 and #2. Looks like frame #3 is the one to focus on now. Hopefully, that frame will include another location.

Progress on the static
We've made great progress on the static puzzle thanks to xnbomb whipping up a program to help us automate the process. Each frame is encoded using a similar method, each involving a different mathematical sequence. The first frame we partially solved in the #inquiringminds chat the other night. grumpyboy noticed that every other letter spelled out "testtesttest...". I've completed the translation on the remainder of the frame and can confirm that it gives no other info beyond "test". I'll admit I was a bit worried when I found the answer to frame #2. I was beginning to think that we were on the wrong track. The second frame so far only says "Hello World!", although I haven't completed the entire frame. Luckily, it seems that some of the other frames have directions to where Steven hid his information on Earth. Andrew emailed me two locations found in frame 6...

"In the nation's watering hole
Near the bird that flaps its wings
Between mess of frosted cylinders
And the bay of rocks, begin.

Start on foot and heading north
Keep the rugged waters right
And on the left the greens
And the cities' colored lights

Until you reach the icons three
Flapping in high winds
The local, national, heroes' pride
Is where your path will bend.

So head a little to the left
Towards hazel pillars three
The warrior's memorial
Is what you ought to see.

Around the pillars, on the ground

I have to wonder why some frames have locations and other do not. Maybe the reasoning will become clear once all of the frames are solved?


Weird thing is.. He's given us 5's math sequence.. but I dont remember us decodign 5!!! Quickly people!

Method.. (a.k.a the solution from hell)

I notice the first few letters were "l o r e" so looking up the sequence for those positions (1 4 11 16) led me to many hits, one of which was [url=A005224]Aronson's Sequence[/url] where you write the sentence "T is the first.. letter in this sequence" and then count the next t and keep writing.. "T is the first, fourth, eleventh," and so on and so forth, giving you the sequence 1 4 11 16 24...

I checked out the first few values and got some lorem ipusm... great.. the entire sequence on the database gave 8 words only, so I assumed there's a lot more, given the length of the other framse...

So off to a merry hunt looking for the rest of the sequence.. nothing on the Internet, except a perl script which might generate the rest.. but it was broken! The entire channel was helping and looking for this stuff.. finally I found an offending "AND" in the perl code, got it out, and the thing worked.. (after two hours..)

Lo and behold, there is nothing after the sequence in the database... just those 8 letters. The PMs used the ready made sequence and the frame seems totally useless.


I am still hoping that I either made a mistake, and there is more stuff in there if I hadn't gotten a step wrong, or that this method is important to solve another frame such as 2 or 3... If not, then I really, really don't like the PMs at the moment....

Frame 1: Odd Numbers - 1 3 5 7 9 11 13 ...
Frame 4: Prime Numbers - 2 3 5 7 11 13 17 19 23 29 ...
Frame 5: Aronson's Sequence - 1 4 11 16 24 ...
Frame 6: Connell Sequence (1 odd, 2 even, 3 odd...) - 1 2 4 5 7 9 10 12 ...
Frame 7: Even Numbers - 0 2 4 6 8 ...
