[NEW] Mt. Baldy (Indiana) Evidence

Ok so I am sorry I couldn't take pictures but it was so freakin' dark in the middle of the forest that it was impossible. After a few false starts, AmberJoy and Stevie got us to where we needed to be at Mt. Baldy. We Went up the 2 sets of wooden stairs and then found the noted bench. After sitting to rest, it was a heck of a hike, we looked under the bench - nothing there. Then we noticed that there was an opening under the deck the bench was on. I kept looking in one spot but Valentine kept pulling me to another. She was right of course. Under the deck in a little cubby, and right next to the roots of an aging tree friend, there was a shoebox sized plastic storage container. The contents were as follows:

2 photos with underlined and circled numbers on the back (much like the milwaukee photos)
1 handwritten letter from Leon's father to Leon (why does Steven have this?)
1 glittery silver butterfly hair clip
1 nasa tag (much like that from milwaukee)
1 pressed penny with an elephant and the words animal kingdon on it
3 sheets of paper called report1.txt
and a cd

attached are the photos etc.

They work fine for me. I could transcribe them for those who can't open them, if it would help.

Something very strange about photo 2. Those who know Milwaukee said it is a picture of a building under construction where the Milwaukee evidence was found.

But take a look at these:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13381 -Carts sends us the same picture.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13450&highlight= -Stevie sends me the same picture telling me her dad took it and it is of the ground base construction site.

Contact1976.wav

I think this .wav contains TTY/TDD data. I found a handy set of tools for making or reading .wavs like this at http://www.ciscounitytools.com/General_tools.htm. However, when I used the reader on Contact1976.wav, I got what looks like a bunch of gibberish:

Maybe it's not encoded using standard US 45.45 Baudot? Maybe the text is encoded again? Maybe it's not even what I think it is. Using the maker, I can make .wav files that basically sound like this one (I've never really heard TTY/TDD before), so if it isn't TTY, it sure sounds a lot like it.

EDIT: After more careful analysis (a.k.a. starring at the file in a sound file editor), the data format in this files is definitely Weithbrecht's adaptation of the Baudot protocol for TTY transmission (see this reference) as it uses the 1400 and 1800 Hz tones, and follows the leading and trailing bits protocol (at least in the first few bytes ... counting them onscreen after that gets tedious) with 1400 representing a 1 and 1800 representing a 0, and every byte beginning with a 0 and ending with a pair of 1s. Furthermore, there are indeed about 45 bits per second (each tone segment is 22 ms long), so it probably follows the 45.45 baud standard used in North America for transmission of TTY data. And it looks to me like TTY Wav Reader is doing what it is supposed to do: The output shown above does match what I see in the first 10 bytes when I count it out. But ... the data bits themselves look like junk. There might be something clever we have to do with them ...

gibberish

i have got similar results. is certainly seems to be a baudot type transmission with the peaks at 1400Hz (mark) and 1800Hz (stop).
Whichever program iuse gives me a different result, as does specifying different parameters withing the decryption program.

i'll keep trying though!

EDIT: i seem to get

[EDIT]: tried taking xnbomb's "gibberish" and converting to base 5 binary... then base 8 binary... then ASCII. but got nowhere.

[EDIT thru boredom] i've attached a quick pic showing the two signal bands at 1.4kHz and 1.8kHz. pretty pretty... just need reading!

@tallerbird
I had a feeling those pictures were not taken on the Maldives. Laughing
But who would have thought that one month later we would find a package right there (not the Maldives)?

re: elephant coin

Has this been identified yet? Is there any way we could get a clearer scan, of each side

Cool

re: elephant coin

I can't be 100% sure, but it is probably from the Disney World themepark of the same name and font face.

yeah it is definitely from disney world and i believe the machine that makes this particular stamp is now not in use (from what i have been able to dig up)

a clearer scan really won't help it is what it is basically.

Just a thought regarding report1.txt

Could there be some relevance to the number of asterisks between the task descriptions and the status? I thought it was likely to just be some count of how long each command is taking to process or something like that, but I couldn't see why repeated 'signal decyption' commands would have such varying lengths, so I noted the number of asterisks down:

3 1 4 1 5 9 2 6 5 3 5 8 9 7 9 3 2 3 8

With the insertion of a decimal point, most people shohuld recognise this as pi to 18 places. So, obviously these asterisks are neither random nor specifically related to the time periods between command and status, but what relevance does pi have to our current position? I dunno, but it seemed worth making a note of.
