I'm kinda wondering about ScapeSkate.

He only posted in the thread linked above, and it almost seems like it was done to give evidence of Tucker's life outside the forum: he sounds like someone who knows Tucker, and is using the forum to invite him out for beer. Not that that probably matters, as I doubt he'll be back.

I also noticed him, and mentioned it to doomcrayon. But as you say, it doesn't look like he's important in the overall game.

It should probably be documented, though.

Hi all. I've been debating whether or not I should delurk and post, because I wanted my first ARG-related post ever to be really interesting and have lots of important revelations about Benjamin Stowe.

But there's so much information to read through that I'm not completely up to speed yet. So I just wanted to say, uh, hi, and this really looks like a lot of fun. My next post will be much more exciting, promise.

Just be glad your first post wasn't a horrible trout written in chat shorthand.
Not that mine was......

Good job on delurking too, because delurking is half the battle.

And Tipsila

Don't forget Tipsila. Everything Tipsila posts seems to be relevant. Including the astrological significance of Ben's and Dr. Martinez' birthdates.

Apparantly, the theory of contact between the "25th Dynasty of Egypt (751-656 B.C.E.)." and the Olmec civilization is important. (http://members.aol.com/carltred/AfricanPresence.htm)

Tipsila says so http://forums.whoisbenjaminstove.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=180&view=findpost&p=2893

Hrm, good point. Has Tipsila posted in any of the OOG threads?

Assuming that they've all been moved to Off Topic, then no - the forum search says that tipsila hasn't posted in that forum at all. So that makes 36 posts and nothing to any OOG threads.

Ah, but you'll notice it was in a farily IC way.

I have a couple of thoughts about the whole Angles Puzzle. Shouldn't we be looking at the more North American possible answers? What I mean is that, the PMs would appear to be North American, and the game story (Iowa, Seattle, etc.) would appear to be North American-centric, so i think, if we follow this puzzle to the obvious conclusion, the solution to this puzzle should (?) lead us to the next sheet (like what Krispy found), which i think, would probably be in North America, USA especially. Perhaps we should look at the whole thing about the first transmission of Morse Code. Mayhaps the next clue/puzzle piece will be in Baltimore or Washington? That'd be my guess (either that or there will be no new clue/puzzle piece to be found next)

p.s. I'm not american! I'm Canadian! I wish more ARGs would have events in Canada (say....Toronto?)

I think Tipsila is a plant (as in, planted in the boards by the PMs). Why? Well, besides this:
Quote:
Everything Tipsila posts seems to be relevant

Tipsila didn't post to a OOG threads until After Family suggested that she was a character here. I think that either later on s/he will turn into a character (and this was just to alay our suspicions) or s/he is there for the PMs to help us if we get stuck on puzzles (explaining the highly relevant posts).

I'm considering writing a private message to try to draw Tipsila out from behind the curtain, in such a way that I stay within the boundaries of "This is not a game". Ex. sending a invite to him/her to join Unfiction.

In fact, i'm going to.

*EDIT* It appears that Tipsila's latest post would agree with two of my suspicions. The first: him/her being there to help us with puzzles we are stuck on (this post gives a lengthly explanation of a possible solution to the angle puzzle we've been so stuck on). The second: That the next solution will again be in the USA.

*SECOND EDIT* I noticed that Tipsila's OOC comment would actually fit IC, because of the way Tucker's site works. Along with comments from him/her such as
Quote:
if this is a "treasure hunt", I don't know if we have too many people that are going to take off to brave the jungles and rainforests of S. America
i think that it would work IC for Tipsila's character to be someone who joins the site, and ends up getting more and more involved in it until something happens to him/her that draws her/his character status out. Presumably this will happen in the future in the game.

I've had a PM conversation with Tipsila. S/he basically gave me a preview of the theory s/he just posted. But I dunno, I came away from that convo feeling like s/he wasn't a plant.

Maybe try to get him/her to come to #benjaminstove?

Are we in danger of turning WIBS into a game of find the plant? This happened in to some extent with the character of CausePoet in OC with players pressing her to enter OOG chat rooms in order to test her; this soon became a bit of a pain for the PMs. I say *trust* the PMs and try and keep to the players side of the bargain when it come to TINAG. OK rant over, thanks for listening.

i agree with you slyfox...lets try to stick to the game and not worry about him/her as much as it seems some of us are.

Send the invite, but please, don't give it so much wieght. There are lots of reasons someone may choose to not "join" Unfiction. I personally don't think it is necessary for anyone to do so to enjoy a game. In fact reading unfiction may break that "This is not a game" wall/curtain for some players. Invites are always welcome, pressure to join the OOG space is not. If Tipsila is a PuppetMaster Device (a tool, not something to spy on the players) then let him/her be, either its purpose will become clear eventually or it will fade away over time.

If Tipsila is making relavent posts to the game instead of trolling the boards, that is better.

she pm'ed me too, talking about the distance measurements... gave me a legitimate website where she got the distances from, also, she said she's an astronomer?

I agree we should just let tip be, but I do like speculating about her though:).
