I'm pretty sure the guardians are Varahamurthy, but no clue on the movie.
Maybe Lara Croft: Tomb Raider? I think I remember the Cambodian statues being wrong, somehow.

Going in the wrong direction, period-wise.

Here's another clue:

Right country, wrong time period. I'll put up another clip this afternoon.

Clue: It was based on true accounts, but was heavily fictionalized for the fairly recent (within the last 10 years) movie.

Het, Tygr, Axys , sorry, but no.

Another clue: Husband and wife teamed up to act in the movie.

Hmmm, purely based on the hints, the only thing I could really find was "Agents Secrets", which stars Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel... I have no idea if the stills match up though Smile

Yeah, that's got to be it... too bad I spent too much time Googling and too little time checking back here Wink

Ok, imdb should really start listing their "joint ventures" chronologically... I completely missed the whole list of more recent Bellucci and Cassel movies Razz

You are up, Guy.

And since I mentioned it, Brotherhood of the Wolf was based on a true account of a man-eating creature called the Beast of Gévaudan that terrorized the French countryside.
