A freakin' MUSICAL to boot! Someone find me the libretto, please!

I'll need some time to find the right clue for the next round, hopefully by morning. Thank you for this thread, all of you!

(returning much later) Sorry for the delay. (Blame RealSabotage.) Here's one that I'm not sure if even I could get:

One of these lovelies is also pictured on the cover of the Beatles album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Another lovely was an uncredited extra but went on to become famous.

Album cover candidates: Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich (unlikely as a bathing beauty), Diana Dors (the British Marilyn, a platinum blonde), and Shirley Temple. Mae West too, but seems REALLY unlikely (older than these women, and also she was very short). So I think we are looking for Marilyn or Shirley.

Also far left looks like she could be Anne Miller, but she doesn't seem tall enough...I wish the picture were a little better. Can't see facial features at all.

OK at the moment I am going with young Marilyn in the red two-piece. That would be late 1940's or so. But I can't find a film like this in her filmography and without another name, no way to find more movies to consider. (No relevant overlap with Ann Miller that I could find.) (For a while I thought that was Goldie Hawn, but I can't get her in a film with any of the candidates.)

gah! stopping now.

At least one thing in what was said above was right on target for one of my clues. The rest of it isn't even coming close to my other clue.

Ladies of the Chorus? A ticket to Tomahawk has too much period western costumes to have girls in bikinis.

Steff, who would be the uncredited but later famous one in that movie? imdb.com has a bunch of uncredited appearances for this movie, but none that I recognize.

And - I'm throwing in a guess of my own, although I can't answer that question about this movie either - is it "We're Not Married!"? (It has a Mrs. (and Miss) Mississippi contest, at least...). But not optimistic - found some images that show Marilyn in a one-piece in this movie.

from Googling wrote:
All living people depicted on the cover were asked permission. Mae West refused - she didn't want to be part of a "Lonely Hearts Club Band." The statuesque blonde near the front on the cover is Diana Dors, a Mae West look alike from the '50s.

"I Married a Woman" 1958 ?

konamouse is incorrect. Also, IMDB doesn't have the bit of trivia I referred to, I found it elsewhere on the internet.

No fair - she was a platinum blonde even in that movie; there are no platinum blondes in the picture.

So who is the uncredited extra?

Sorry, I thought catherwood said "correct".

Ah hah!! Diligence pays (and lots of learning about Diana Dors).

Lady Godiva Rides Again, 1951.

Uncredited Beauty Queen - Joan Collins!!! Cool
What threw me was the picture is in color but the movie was B&W.

Joan may be the one at far right. (edit - confirmed here: http://www.tales.co.uk/RANK.HTML )

A much darker piece of trivia about the movie from someone who posted on imdb.com:

Quote:
Trivia, 31 October 2005
Author: Jeremy Beadle from London, United Kingdom

It may interest people to know that appearing in the film uncredited as a contestant in a beauty contest is Ruth Ellis.

On July 13th 1955 she became the last woman hanged for murder in Great Britain. In a jealous rage the 28 year old night-club manageress fired six shots at her 24 year old lover David Blakely outside the Magdala Pub in Hampstead, London. Two bullets missed, one piercing the hand of a passer-by; two hit him in the back, one in the thigh and one in the left arm. He died instantly.

When sentenced to death the only thing she said was 'Thanks'.

The female star of the film was Diana Dors. Her greatest ever screen performance was in 'Yeild to the Night' the harrowing story of murderess Mary Price Hilton a character based on Ruth Ellis.

Consultant on the film was executioner Albert Pierrepoint - the man who hanged Ruth Ellis.

And returning to the hunt...
It's amazing the things you find when you go looking for gorilla suits on the internet.
