It is very much a British film, made after 1987. A cello plays a central role. It's not a horror film, but there are ghosts.

While it was originally written to be deadly serious, what got released was decidedly not. Time has not been kind to this movie.

My guess is that it's horror become comic. Only a few come to mind.
How about Death-race 2000 the original of course from 1975.
