Failed attempt at humour, obviously...sorry if I offended! What I meant to say was: Personally I hardly like any movies he was in, except maybe One Hour Photo and a few select others.

EDIT - I forgot The Fisher King, that one's great!

And I would party down with him anytime, too! He should bring Flubber, though! Smile

Anyway, I'll be back with a capture soon...

Well-known actress, well-known director, not so well-known movie?

Four movies early enough for her to be that young and with what I consider famous directors - am I close?

Repulsion (Roman Polanski)

Le vice et al vertu (Roger Vadim)

Les Plus belles escroqueries du monde (Claude Chabrol, Jean Luc Godard)

Un monsieur de compagnie (Philipe de Broca)

Good spot, aliendial! While we're on the theme of randomly protruding body-parts, maybe this will help to narrow it down:

Protruding-RESIZED

BTW, do we have any guidelines for the size of the pics? (Bigger is better, of course...but I thought somewhere around 420x350 was the upper limit for the board?)

That's not Repulsion?

Hm, maybe we should extend the one rule of this game by one more:

Only one guess per post.

What do you think? Otherwise you could post an actors filmography and get it right without ever finding out which movie it actually was. I'm not saying it's cheating, I just thought aliendials post was more of an approximation than an actual guess.

But since the rule wasn't specified...go right ahead and take the turn, aliendial!

I'm inclined to think this is not a win.

This looks like the winner.

(just in case we're voting on the ground rules.)

I put Repulsion first (you'll see it is out of chron order) because I saw some pics that showed a similar hairdo etc, but that's how she wore her hair those days. So I listed the other three that also fit his clue. Pretty hard to narrow down after that.

At least I didn't post her whole filmography - that list skips about 10 films in the same years. Not random guessing. And the easy way around this new ground rule - I could have just posted separately.

Shall we etch every rule on titanium plates and bury them in an underground bunker for posterity as well?

Sheesh.

I say, 2 guesses per post is acceptable. There's nothing wrong with someone saying, "I think it's The My Pretty Pony Movie, and if it isn't that one, then it's The Carebears Movie."

Ok, whatever...no need for specific rules, "we" just sort it out on an individual basis...just the way I like it.
So I guess that applies to my other question about the picture size (which I asked out of respect for the board) as well...I don't really understand the sheeshing, though. That just makes my sarcasm-sense tingle. I only made a proposition to help clarify...as far as I'm concerned, everybody can post as many guesses as they want...I also did so before.

aliendial...like I said, it was a good spot. I didn't think you were randomly guessing at all. It's just, the way I understood you (which I guess was wrong), I thought you WANTED to narrow it down more. Like catherwood, I interpreted the situation differently...

So is that sorted out, then? Everything's peachy and aliendial is up, right?

As for the size of images on the board...
Space and the other admins may have a different interpretation, but I'd say when you're linking to an image there is no upper limit on the height and the width should probably be less than 800 pixels or so to keep the screen from sprouting a horizontal scroll bar. Even on my dinosaur laptop I'm using 1024 for a resolution width. Is anyone still browsing at 800x600 or *gasp* 640x480?. 720 is a common capture size and doesn't cause me any problems.
If you're attaching an image, the width still applies, but more important is the byte count. So, no .BMP's?

about the rules

hhmm the only movies I can think of that might have people discussing formalizing the rules are sports related or war related

So I guess Semi-Tough as it is the only football movie I liked.

And the Hunt for Red October as it is my favorite submarine movie.

oh wait - the rules decision wasn't in place of a still?

my bad. Wink
