As someone who's just reading this thread, I'd just like to let it be known that I do enjoy watching people attack each other. It's great to occasionally see debates turn into massive, flaming attacks which causes everyone to start shouting at everyone else. No one knows what exactly they're shouting about, nor what started the shouting. Everyone just runs around in a panic, burning and pillaging.

Sorry, watching a viking thing on TV.

Everybody make absolutes!

Is calling someone "Mr. Studier of Things" an attack? Is it an all-out flame attack to point out that someone has misspoke in an authoritative manner about a subject he is not exactly an authority on, in a somewhat arrogant and condescending manner?

Or is it just explaining something fairly tactfully and showing some restraint by going to the effort to actually explain, rather than simply insult? What I've essentially said is, "Well, if you know everything, then why aren't you aware of this?" when I could have simply insulted him on a personal level and called him names (isn't that what a flame-war is?)

I'm not sure what is referred to as a "flame" any more, but I do know that the term "argument" is not necessarily a bad thing, but merely one side of a debate (i.e. in semantics, philosophy, politics, etc. you present an argument). Part of presenting an argument involves putting forth evidence to back your claims.

Now, that this has been addressed, I'd like to address something else about whether a Guest can or can't be trusted. The term "Guest" to me is just as trustworthy as "Brother Spider". I would give each username the same respect and take either of their opinions with the same grain of salt. I don't feel like registering, so I'm not going to.

I enjoy making names up on the spot and I don't like "logging out" if I'm at work and then having to log back in. If you're so paranoid that you think the Guests are out to get you, that's your problem. How anyone could become wary and cynical from a helpful little post about meditation is beyond me. How anyone could have responded so arrogantly to a casual post about TM is also beyond me. I mean, I always try to take the time to at least do a little Google research before I shoot my mouth off (if I'm in the mood to shoot my mouth off). It surprises me that others don't do the same. I guess some people just think that they know it all.

Oh, hey, now you kids play nice or I'll turn this forum around and go straight home!

And then there'll be no ice cream for anyone.

And stop kicking the seat.

Alright... I wasn't trying to escalate the situation I said: "In my studies and experience" assuming that it implied I DIDN'T know everything.
One of the guests made a point blank statement "yes, it is dangerous"
which in direct context to Transcendental Meditation is probably correct but still an opinion nonetheless. Note also that I did apologize for not knowing that TM was an actual patented "process" and explained where I was coming from. I have no problem with giving evidence and opinion, I do however have a problem with someone stating conjecture or theory as absolute truth. I understand that my post was misinterpreted in this way and for that, again I am sorry.
I don't assume that I know it all and am actually quite grateful that the TM thing was pointed out.
As for the log in thing... the only reason I would like our guests to get log ins is so I can tell people apart... I'm not even sure who has posted what... I might be talkingabout two completely different people here and thusly completely misinterpreting the situation.
Either way I think that this has become a little off-topic and threatens to bring unescessary negativity to the forum. So AGAIN Ill just apologize for any miscommunication and thank everyone for sharing their ideas.
