I'm great at TriBond, but one would think QuadraBond would be statistically easier. Hell, I've been googling Fiestaware for the past few minutes and I still don't even understand what it is.

OOH, I've got it: all four things are boring????

I kid. Kinda.

Actually, I just said that so I could time how long it took for you to post something like that, lol.

In all honesty, though, these "clues" seem more oriented towards establishing the particular character's personality, rather than providing ARG-y evidence for us to endlessly speculate on and Google to death. Not that I discourage any of us from doing so, of course.

Of course, if this game is being primarily promoted through Google Ad(words?), then perhaps we should throw some stuff into Big G and see what ads come up? That'd be a pretty cool mechanism for in-game site discovery, actually.

On a meta level, it's one of two things:

1) The PM or actor on IM has a script of things it's "legal" to talk about, pretty tame stuff like hobbies and pherotone talking points, and so s/he keeps repeating them. OR

2) The PM or actor on IM has a list of important clues to deliver, and tries to dump them on anyone who pings, even when it seems barely relevant to the conversation.

I speak from my own experience that it just FEELS like #2 to me. However I am not unacquainted with the desire to see a puzzle where none exists. Smile Nevertheless...

by the way, fiestaware? Watch your Antique Roadshow, boy! THat stuff is HOT!! Very Happy

Mozart, Orchids, Fiestaware, Depression Glass... hmmm... anyone good at that tribond game?

Fiestaware and Depression glass are both quite collectible, with discontinued pieces. An interesting fact about the two - both used to use Uranium in the making, meaning that red Fiestaware and Vaseline glass will make Geiger counters jump.

Other than the mention of a superhero named Paula Porter who was pricked by a radioactive orchid and became The Stranger, I don't see where orchids or Mozart are radioactive. Wink

The only thing that strikes me is that those pictures on her blog look a little weird.

That and the picture of the farmhouse reminds me of the Benjamin Stove painting. I doubt that's more than coincidence, although combining drunk South American aliens with musical phone sex and fetish collectibles could make for one hell of a viral experience Very Happy

E-Bay

Just a little extra info, Fiestaware and Depression Glass do huge business on E-Bay.

Could this be E-Bay related?

I'm not sure about Mozart's E-Bay worth.

we are missing something i think (the whole conversation is at the end only because someone may find it important. i have highlighted what i think is important below):
Quote:
[12:57] Supergrrl007: honestly if the disappointment is enlightening i hope it comes soon.
[12:57] drpherotone: very soon...I am so ready for this thing to move to the next level...
[12:57] drpherotone: so close
[12:57] Supergrrl007: so why wait?
[12:58] drpherotone: I guess you could say...
[12:58] drpherotone: well
[12:58] drpherotone: there are still some hurdles for us to jump...
[12:58] drpherotone: That's the best way to explain it away
[12:58] Supergrrl007: ahhh the proverbial red tape then
[12:59] drpherotone: And, we set certain goals for ourselves, some self-imposed benchmarks that would trigger next steps.
[12:59] drpherotone: We have dreams
[12:59] Supergrrl007: and the goals for those steps have yet to be reached
[12:59] drpherotone: unfulfilled.
[12:59] * Supergrrl007 nods

but the good doc also states:
Quote:
[12:48] Supergrrl007: you know there is tons of speculation regarding you and your product
[12:48] drpherotone: Yes, I know.
[12:48] Supergrrl007: you have people all excited
[12:48] drpherotone: I had wanted to talk to you about that.
[12:48] drpherotone: I don't want people to be disappointed
[12:48] Supergrrl007: yeah they have very high expectations for what is to come i think
[12:49] drpherotone: I think part of the problem is that I am fairly loose-lipped on these chats, and a lot of things that I say
[12:49] drpherotone: about what I like, and what I think, and where I live
[12:50] drpherotone: things that make up who I am, my character, and the role I am now playing in society
[12:50] Supergrrl007: to many everything is a puzzle
[12:50] drpherotone: things like my hobbies, and passions..opera fiestaware...
[12:50] drpherotone: I think these things are being looked at as clues of some sort

so who knows whats going on. the doc is fun though, even with her love of opera and fiestaware Smile

[12:45] drpherotone: oh sure, I do that all the time.
[12:45] Supergrrl007: because that would be great
[12:45] drpherotone: It's very healthy...good for the skin...and general health...good for stress abatement
[12:46] Supergrrl007: if used on yourself would it make you attracted to yourself?
[12:46] drpherotone: Yes, so narcissism is a real danger...but in moderation it's fine.
[12:46] Supergrrl007: just like anything then
[12:47] drpherotone: knowing how to please ourselves only makes us better lovers
[12:47] Supergrrl007: moderation
[12:47] drpherotone: moderationn and good sense is key.
[12:47] * Supergrrl007 nods

[12:51] drpherotone: I am starting to feel bad and worry about that
[12:51] drpherotone: I usually go to Vienna when i am in the mood for opera, or I'll catchone when I go shoe shopping in NYC
[12:52] Supergrrl007: oh nyc is my favourite shoe city for sure
[12:52] Supergrrl007: although chicago is closer but not as fun Smile
[12:52] Supergrrl007: oh and don't feel bad. people look for clues in anything. i mean anything Smile
[12:52] drpherotone: Chicago is a springtime city for me, I always
[12:53] drpherotone: fly there as soon as the weather gets war, because that first warm weekend, people feel great.
[12:53] drpherotone: Then I go to Minniappolis for the same thing
[12:53] Supergrrl007: heh my husband and i have a tradition
[12:53] Supergrrl007: the first real nice warm spriong day we have "phish day"
[12:53] Supergrrl007: which includes driving around in the car with the windows down and listening to phish
[12:54] drpherotone: perfect.
[12:54] Supergrrl007: he used to be a dirty hippie so i go along with it
[12:54] Supergrrl007: now that we have a dog it is the perfect day Smile
[12:55] Supergrrl007: well will be once pherotones are released
[12:55] * Supergrrl007 grins
[12:55] drpherotone: They will only enhance what is already good.
[12:56] Supergrrl007: yes. i think many are hoping they will create something that isnt already there. that may be the biggest disappointment
[12:56] drpherotone: Well, people need to learn that life isn't so simple. If the disappointment is enlightening.
[12:57] Supergrrl007: honestly if the disappointment is enlightening i hope it comes soon.

[13:00] Supergrrl007: i think we aren't helping then.
[13:00] drpherotone: we?
[13:00] Supergrrl007: we meaning the public
[13:00] Supergrrl007: as a whole
[13:01] drpherotone: Oh, no, that's not true...every byte of interaction with "the public" makes us grow stronger.
[13:01] drpherotone: bit

[13:01] drpherotone: it's cool

Ha, okay, so very subtle hints there not to try to solve anything based on character/roleplay interaction on IM.

Okay, so the whole benchmark thing and every interaction with the public makes them stronger...

My guess is there is a quantitative benchmark for testimonials. When they receive a certain number, phase 2 of the project triggers.

I will probably stage something myself to see if I can help with the momentum...

i like the doc

Quote:
Supergrrl007: oh i remembered another question. Why do you have the organhands picture on your photobucket site?

drpherotone: It's on my blog, or it used to be...I had to take down a post that uses it.

drpherotone: I love that picture...

Supergrrl007: its really cool

drpherotone: no flash, long exposure...digital

Supergrrl007: i like photos of motion. i think that's why it stuck me

Supergrrl007: er struck

drpherotone: yeah..I need to take more of those...I don't go out as much as I used too. there should be a photo up on photobucket that shows a

drpherotone: fast-moving bartender, blurred at my favorite bar

drpherotone: maybe it's not there...

Supergrrl007: not that i see

drpherotone: I'm saving that one for a post on Pherotone bar etiquette

Supergrrl007: there is a photo of your farm though. is that in nc?

drpherotone: yes, outside of Chapel Hill

drpherotone: near the haw river.

drpherotone: Interesting fact:

drpherotone: Water has flowed in the banks of the Haw River since before Mammals walked the earth.

drpherotone: A truly ancient river.

Supergrrl007: how do they figure that out?

drpherotone: since before four-chambered hearts

drpherotone: science figured it out

drpherotone: geology

Supergrrl007: right i am wondering what kinds of tests you could do to figure that out...probably something involving carbon but it isnt like a tree that you can cut open and count the rings

drpherotone: and the study of dinosaurs...and early mammals

drpherotone: Paleontology?

Supergrrl007: probably

Supergrrl007: good thought

Supergrrl007: wow the haw river museum is only open on saturdays and sundays (and the 4th tuesday of every month for the meeting) must be a very very small town Smile

drpherotone: Yes, but it is growing, sprawl threatens our way of life

Supergrrl007: having lived in a bigish city my whole life i often wonder what it would be like to live somewhere where everyone knew everyone else.

Supergrrl007: must be like a very extended family i would imagine

drpherotone: Well, except for me...I kind of keep to myself...I am an outsider, it seems, everywhere I go.

Supergrrl007: well i think it takes years to become an insider in a place like that.

drpherotone: generations...

Supergrrl007: plus as a scientist it oftentimes is better to be an outsider.

drpherotone: my neighbors have lived on that same land since 1790

Supergrrl007: much better for observing

drpherotone: yes.

Supergrrl007: wow then definitely generations

Supergrrl007: is the farm where you do your research? or is the lab somewhere else?

Supergrrl007: it would be great to "work at home"

Supergrrl007: Smile

drpherotone: The lab is in RTP....sorry lots of IM's all of a sudden. they come in waves

Supergrrl007: oh near duke

drpherotone: yes

drpherotone: we employ a few duke and unc dropouts

drpherotone: people. like me who got booted out of the academy for their maverick approach to science

Supergrrl007: the maverick approach, when done by someone smart, is oftentimes the best approach

Supergrrl007: but you already know this

Supergrrl007: Smile

drpherotone: I live it

Supergrrl007: nods

drpherotone: might have to go for a few minutes..brbr

drpherotone: brbr

drpherotone: brb

drpherotone: I'm back, but i have to leave again, you still there?

drpherotone: I wanted to say a proper good bye.

drpherotone: closure is important, although our exchange is for the time being, open ended.

jane: i was thinking about the benchmark/testimonial thing too but then i noticed they haven't posted any new testimonials. might not be the right way to go? i don't know, this is all spec right now Smile

There's a new, moderately amusing 'proof' video up on the site:

I'd add her to my friend list too except I haven't used my Friendster account for over five years. Still get spam from them, though. If anyone wants to find my old account, you're welcome to.

And did anyone notice that one of the doc's friends works at, or at least is interested in, McKinney Silver? This is getting uncomfortably meta.
