Danish

If it is Danish. I am not really good with most other languages but I have been trying look through wiki's for information on the danish language. I could be very wrong on this but so far I have found this
Fem = 5
Seks = 6
Syv = 7
Otte = 8
Tretal = 3 (I found that three is said as tre or tretal)
Sig = oneself, himself, herself, themselves
Nord = North
Vest = West
so... with that we have
7, 8, 3, oneself/himself/herself/themselves , 6, 8, 8, 4, 4, 5, 8, 6, north, west
This is what Snic and I have come to at this point.

I found that "sig" has several translations including "one". With the north west included in the text, could this be lat/long?

I was thinking lat/long, or GPS. But, neither makes much sense given the series of numbers. Thought I am hard-pressed to come up with another reason why North and West would be on there.

They seem to indeed be lat/long, given in Degrees minutes seconds.

For instance, the lat/long in this form for Helispot airport in North Carolina is
Degrees Minutes Seconds:
Latitude: 354658N
Longitude: 0783829W

Which has the same amount of numbers, as well as the "N" and "W", as does our Cloo.

EDIT
I may have misspoken, as there are SEVEN digits in the Longitude in this form. Also, there's no apparent form as to which numbers are North and which numbers are West.

Assuming that Sig does mean 1, our numbers are

783168844856 N, W

I'm stumped.

Yes, it is possible to translate it as "one", even if it's not 100% correct (it doesn't seem to mean "1" as a number, but rather "one" as "some(one) person/thing" - but again, I may be very wrong). Anyway, let's just assume for now that it does stand for "1" and see where this leads.

Good idea. But in this case, how should we read the numbers? I mean, there is no clear order, as far as I can see, to indicate what is latitude and what is longitude.
I'll try something on google earth anyway.

For what its worth

the Lat/Long in normal form for "Research triangle Park" (in North Carolina) where the Auditory institute is located, is

Latitude: 35.89694
Longitude: -78.86056

Which shares a great deal of numbers with the ones we have as part of the clue. Just if anyone wants to start around "35" and "-78" and figure it out from there.
Cheers.

Yes, Duckie (YAY! DUCKIE!!! Very Happy ), I've been serching the RTP on google earth for clues since the coordinates idea came up, but I'm having a hard time making any sense of it. The problem is that we have the number 8 recurring 5 times, which is quite a lot for a set of coordinates given in degrees/minutes/seconds. In which order should we read the numbers in the heart, it still remains a mistery to me.

Just as a confirmation, here's what my Danish friend says:
Quote:
The picture I see is of a drawing of a heart, signed Elkstrom, with a bunch of numbers and directions spelled out inside it.

"otte" = eight
"syv" = seven
"seks" = six
"fem" = five
"fire" = four
"tretal" = the digit three ("tre" means three, and "tal" means number, so tretal refers to the digit three not just the abstract number three, if that makes sense at all)

"vest" = west
"nord" = north

it's not clear to me what "sig" means in this context. Normally, it would mean 'say' - as in telling someone to say something out loud, for example. I'm not quite sure what it means here. Maybe someone meant to write "syd" which means south.

According to:

http://danish.nigilist.ru/cgi-bin/nph-dict.cgi

sig is: oneself, himself, herself, itself, themselves,

Aha.
InterTran, a translating website (www.tranexp.com)

Translates "one" as "sig" AND "three" as "tretal"
having those two mistakes together to me signifies that both are important only as numbers, and not anything else.
Interestingly, it translates "north" as "nordpa", so maybe its not the exact translator used.
Still, in my opinion, we should approach this as a Coordinate.

Actually, lat/long can be 6 digits in both degrees/minutes/seconds and decimal value... via Mapquest.

I got coordinates for

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
American University in Washington, DC using the coordinates "783168, -844856."

Perhaps it's the location of a lecture?

talking with my danish friend he also said "sig" isnt one, its "tell"... which lead me thinking about telephone numbers..."tel" ? Perhaps in the northwest?
