[PUZZLE] [NOV 10] 4th picture on floorplans -> coffin http://vaporlofts.com/floorplans.html now has the 4th pic online. But it's not a picture rather than http://vaporlofts.com/floor1aux.html .
Instead of the 4th image the 5th is now "currently unavailable". VL is a funny company.
The new page has the description "Floorplans (Revision 1 - supplemental)" and the name...floor1aux...auxiliary?...both suggests that this is going to help in some way with...what? floor1c.jpg ?
The page contains a picture with the name windows.jpg which shows bright light from the left window and darkness on the right side.
The alt text says:
Windows can be opened. Windows can be closed.
But not all windows will remain locked. Not all windows will remained closed.
There is darkness in the room. There is light through the window.
Turn left. Turn right. Turn left behind. There is nothing in the darkness.
There is nothing in the light.
It does not seem to be stegged (as I thought the opening-windows-stuff could suggest).
There's also this riddle:
Who makes it has no need of it.
Who buys it has no use for it.
Who uses it can neither see nor feel it.
I think everyone knows the solution is "coffin". Don't tell me I spoiled that for you (I had to put it in the topic of this thread, sorry!
Like so many times before, this leads us to http://vaporlofts.com/coffin.html .
The page appears to have two broken pictures - actually both of them are coffin.jpg which doesn't exist (yet) - and another mp3 file .
The alt text of the upper one:
For this locked room, there is no key.
We will keep the door closed.
Uh-oh, that doesn't sound good...
Btw: The space contains "invisible" characters which are not highlightable (word?) within the source.
And the alt text of the lower one (only fully visible in the source):

It's not the usual Gibberish Key and might instead be another hash cipher. (Without a key? Help! I thought this was supposed to help? Hehe.)
Here we go...lots of stuff to play with.

window.jpg My first post!
After a bit of messing around with window.jpg, it appears that there is a transparent like figure in front of the left hand window.
I changed just the brightness and contrast, one to the max, which shows that there is definetly not just the window there:
And one, that shows a figure:

It may just be my imagination, but I dont think it is.

Looking at the image in hex, it was edited in ps and there seems to be a rather long header. I will look into this.

Welcome cobran!
Just wanted to tell you that pics are uploaded automatically in an attachment. But I guess it's ok if you spare the server. I don't really know.
I'm looking into this some time later. It's too bad...there is a lot of stuff right now lying around, but so few people are playing this and there's practically no movement...

Not worried about the server, will keep it in mind for next time though.
I noticed not too many people playing, wonder why, and I cant get my head around this code breaking!
Hopefully we will be able to progress soon.

I believe it's called Last Call Poker , among other things. Games with small groups can be fun until you run into the inevitable puzzle you just can't solve (see Heist).
However, the PMs are always free to give us hints and nudges along the right path, so even if we do get stuck, there are other options. So, while we should continue to try and solve the puzzles we do have, don't drive yourself crazy over the ones that seem impossible. Sometimes even just taken a break and stepping back will bring a solution into focus.

Remember that with nodes.html and 1008.html there we needed three pieces of info to decrypt the messages: Algorithm, Chaining Mode, and Hash. Hopefully those are hidden around coffin.html somewhere.
Hopefully this new MP3 will contain the answers we're looking for. I will look at that tonight because I'm at work now and our LAN blocks direct MP3 downloads. Which probably means I should be getting back to work

Well, the password is not coffin. I tried every combingation I could with clipsecure and was not able to get it decoded.

Why is it that I don't believe you?
You certainly can't have that much time at your hands...
@Rowan
I'd really like to solve the 404b cipher, but I didn't have time for that so far and I guess the information in this one might be useless in another week or two.
And yes, LCP is putting everything else into stagnation. Evil poker.

image info cobran,
now that you mention what you saw in the pic, I am reminded of something similar in an image from Anne's photoalbum. I thought I saw a light image superimposed on top of the pic. But no matter what i did with the pic in the gimp, I could not resolve the image to anything substantial. So I decided that I was trying too hard to see something that wasn't there. Now I think that maybe I wasn't so crazy after all.
it might be of note that I have no idea how the heck to use photo manipulation programs at all, so the fact that I worked with a pic means little to nothing.
it was the very first picture in the vaporlofts series 1 set. I won't say what I think I saw, I don't want to mislead anyone.

password.. Just a thought.
The first alt text on the image was:
"For this locked room, there is no key. "
Could this not refer to the code in the next alt text?

It sounds like a riddle I've heard before. A locked room with no key? Does this ring a bell for anyone else? It could be the encryption key...
UPDATE: This page has many riddles, including the coffin riddle AND the riddle from the Tokyo site. Although it doesn't have a riddle like the 'locked room' text, it may come in handy later.

Well, there are only 270 variations.
Yes, it was a boring day at work, and I was sure coffin was the password. I was wrong.
CTRL-ALT-D, Click, Type coffin, Enter.
Repeat 270 times.
No, I don't have a life (at least when there is nothing to do at work).

I believe the answer to this was an "egg".
There is no egg.html and that's all I can say.

Hey Fendrus!
Welcome on board. I wish that there was more excitement in this one, but there's not.
As to the mp3 (I assume you're talking about the one discussed in this thread, file0250.mp3 - they are others floating about), as far as I know, no one's discovered anything in it. Personally, all I've tried doing is opening it as a text file and seeing if there's any text floating about in it. If you have any ideas, please share!
And again, welcome to the crew.
