Thanks. I was able to pull down a copy of it with Firefox. IE under windows doesn't put a copy in temporary files, won't let you even paste it as a file in explorer and wants to save it as a bitmap file. Something kind of odd in that.

Also, The kunstmatig page shows that recovery is complete and that it is now, "Commencing neurostasis conditioning".

Oh please tell me it's not too late to get involved. I've read thru all of the posts and this sounds amazing. I'd love to help as much as possible...although I've never done an ARG before, but i'm really willing to learn!

I'd be surprised if there weren't something up with the title conventions of the "CONVmem" pages, but I'm not seeing it.

2182006 - "CONVmem~VSYS826577.RVX" - Monitoring
2192006 - "CONVmem~VSYS402910.RVX" - Storage
2202006 - "CONVmem~VSYS539723.RVX" - Storage
2212006 - "CONVmem~VSYS327054.RVX" - Monitoring
2222006 - "CONVmem~VSYS205985.RVX" - Storage

Also, the images don't seem to be layered (not that I'm any kind of expert in that sort of thing) and don't appear to have any obvious clues directly imbedded in their graphical content. Again, I've removed all stegging software from my machines and just don't play that, anymore. If anyone wants to check for that....

Finally, there are the spelling errors that continue, the latest of which is:
Quote:
"Dmg to core system stabalized"

Today's change is on the "kunstmatig/Carmenta" page which no longer displays a status of neurostasis conditioning and instead is just a quote by Franz Kafka Nikos Kazantzakis:
Quote:
By believing passionately in something that does not yet exist, we create it. The nonexistant is whatever we have not sufficiently desired.

Any ideas on what this is meant to tell us?
Is it a variation on the ARG mantra, "The players create the game."?
Or is it a warning?...
i.e.: "If there isn't more interest in this game, it will disappear".

Either way, it is out of continuity with what came before.

EDIT: As for links related to the quote: The most likely were cites of the quote on some Hedonistic Imperative sites.

God I hope it's not a warning! I'm digging this game, especially with all of these literary references. I really want to keep playing!

Although I agree that it seems out of continuity with the pages before…I think the gist of the quote is somewhat within the theme of the game.

And P.S. why is there a red S in "passionately?"

As Rogi Ocnorb pointed out, the quote is sometimes associated with the Hedonistic Imperative.

Looks like "Paradise engineering" is also a term associated with the hedonistic imperative. I think the terms are important, considering the Planet Elysium picture. (Elysium being Paradise to the greeks)

y0!

uhm...i think the code on the RAWmem page has changed

well..the shape of the code has at least. or maybe it just looks different on my laptop. i dunno. either way, i tried to decode it, but decoding base64 is apparently a little more complicated than just sticking the whole code into a decoder...lol. can somebody please explain it to me a bit?

EDIT

nevermind. i figured it out. and it hasn't really changed. there's more added (or maybe rogi didn't post all of it). but nothing really. it's just repitition of what rogi posted with different percentages complete. !postap. goes from 23%, to 33%, to 39%. oh well. still open for desteg password suggestions

nope. here's a list of the passwords i've tried:

pity
storage
monitoring
raw
31306
corner
silence
knownpaths
blindside
tristram
william

all of those (and a bunch more that i can't remember) have been tried on all 3hree pictures, with and without capitals.

EDIT

did we ever figure out what the blindside lyrics had to do with all of this?

I'm unsure of whether there has been a correction of the spelling on the page or if the original transcription of it here at UF was a little off, but the kunstmatig page now shows 'nonexistent' with its correct spelling ('e' not 'a' as the last vowel).

Might also be worth noting that the quote seems equally likely to have originally been from Franz Kafka.

google search
Code:
"Nikos Kazantzakis" "nonexistent is whatever"

196 hits.

google search
Code:
"Franz Kafka" "nonexistent is whatever"

1990 hits.

That it is sometimes attributed to Kazantzakis seems undermined by the fact that I cannot find a specific reference to where it occurs in his work, whereas at least one webpage specifically attributes it to Kafka's published journals.
