If it is sirens we need, Kafka wrote at least twice about them:
About the Sirens
and their silence
No hits on homer, odyssey, parthenope, argo, nymph(s), shield, etc.

And, I thought it was all his men who had wax in their ears while he was chained to the mast without any wax.

EDIT: Well, our updates have stopped coming, so I assume "sirens" is the full kloo. I can't think of any more Ulyssian, Odyssian, Homerian or Kafkan references to try. Oh, and it isn't (a)weapon.html.

Any other ideas?

Well....Sarians are an alien race from the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel "At The Earth's Core" (Burroughs is the guy who wrote Tarzan) but I played around with some of the terms from the book and nothing led me to a new page. I'm pretty stumped about the whole thing.

EDIT: ha, well....nevermind that angle, i forgot it's SAIRANS. Please disregard.

I can't help but think we've missed something. I still think there is something in the background of the answering machine file...I have been working on it but I don't know how to use the program - however, what I have heard is something IS there, but I can't get it to where I can hear it well. It also sounds like it's been sped up. Does anyone know someone on here who actually knows how to do these things?

Also, what happened to William? Has anyone had email contact with his (supposed) mother? Where have our characters gone? We got lots of updates for quite awhile, and now...nothing. Are we just waiting for the 13th? I thought we were trying to stop something from happening then. Did I miss something? Bang Head

i produce underground dance music, so i know how to use sound forge, but i just moved across country and the PC i had the program on is still at my old home- it is my moms. if i had actually purchased the program, i would've been working on that clip a long time ago. but since i acquired it through slightly less than legal means, i am out of luck.
oh, and i emailed josephine a couple days ago and still haven't gotten a response. either we've missed something, or we're going to have to wait (unfortunately) until the 13th to see something happen.

Hi guys... *pokes head in* ... can I join?

^^;

I haven't ARGed in a good long time, and just a few days away from Spring Break, I figured there was hardly a better time. Of course, I'm in the middle of final exams right now, and I'm pretty much useless anyway (hate to say it but 'tis true Razz) but this looks like a pretty damn awesome ARG to me, sooo.... yeah. Here I am.

Oh, and happy eve of the thirteenth Wink

No. No you may not join.

Cool Feel free! You've got 42 hours to catch up before the game starts (the main game, anyway). Looking back, there's really not that much...

Moss: The more, the merrier. Note that the "proust" page was only up for a few hours on that one day.

oh! a chat with our friend!

Quote:
[02:39] Br0kenS0cial: Hello
[02:39] Br0kenS0cial: I have not talked to you in quite awhile
[02:40] whatisthesilence: hello!
indeed. how have you been?
[02:40] Br0kenS0cial: I have been good
[02:40] Br0kenS0cial: yourself?
[02:41] whatisthesilence: oh, quite fine. haven't been up to anything all that interesting. however, it is my birthday as of an hour and 41 minutes ago. yipee.
[02:41] Br0kenS0cial: Very Happy Happy Belated Birthday
[02:42] whatisthesilence: thanks a bunch!
[02:42] whatisthesilence: i feel old.
[02:42] Br0kenS0cial: Very Happy
[02:42] Br0kenS0cial: What did you do for your birthday?
[02:43] whatisthesilence: nothing yet! i think sandy has some sort of a surprise planned for tomorrow. should be fun.
[02:43] Br0kenS0cial: Very Happy
[02:43] Br0kenS0cial: Have you heard anything more from your "stalker"?
[02:44] whatisthesilence: oh, no. he's been strangely quiet. the last i heard from him was through that e-mail where he pretended to be my mother. what a nasty thing to do.
[02:45] Br0kenS0cial: indeed
[02:45] Br0kenS0cial: have you seen the site?
[02:45] Br0kenS0cial: the countdown has almost finished
[02:46] whatisthesilence: yes, yes...quite strange, no? i've been checking that thing on and off since it started changing. there's a picture of me that is, well, not me! i never posed for that. unless it was some sort of hidden camera. which would make sense, i guess...if the stalker's gone that far.
[02:47] Br0kenS0cial: hm..very bizzare..
[02:47] whatisthesilence: very!
[02:48] Br0kenS0cial: By believing passionately in something that still does not

exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not

sufficiently desired.
[02:48] Br0kenS0cial: have you ever heard of that before?
[02:48] Br0kenS0cial: I like that quote
[02:49] whatisthesilence: indeed i have. that's kafta. wonderful little quote.
[02:50] whatisthesilence: kafka, rather. bah.
[02:50] Br0kenS0cial: Very Happy
[02:50] Br0kenS0cial: do you think there's any signifgance of it being there?
[02:52] whatisthesilence: not that i can tell, other than that my stalker must know i like kafka. it's probably just there to creep me out. but what in the world does "sairans" mean? if i recall the order in which the letters 'lit up.' that's what i'm more interested in.
[02:53] Br0kenS0cial: yeah, noticed that
[02:53] Br0kenS0cial: alot of people speculated on that
[02:54] whatisthesilence: hmm. a lot of people? there's more people interested in this whole mess?
[02:55] Br0kenS0cial: er...a few
[02:55] Br0kenS0cial: it seems this mystery has some appeal
[02:56] whatisthesilence: ah, well. perhaps i can set up some place where you folks can organise your thoughts. it is all very strange. and wasn't something supposed to happen on my birthday? bah, my party better not get crashed. perhaps it's all a well thought out joke!
[02:56] Br0kenS0cial: that would be great
[02:57] whatisthesilence: alright, i shall see what i can do.
i really should get some sleep though. i'll probably have a lot of things to do tomorrow. happy birthday to me!
[02:58] Br0kenS0cial: Very Happy yes, happy birthday
[02:58] Br0kenS0cial: sleep well
[02:58] whatisthesilence: thank you! you too. night, friend.

It decodes to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Be hushed, thou vainglorious prater, or vengeance shall silence thee to thine eternal confusion.

Which is a bit from the Exposition for the Division component of Psalm 75, Verse 5 of "The Treasury of David" by Charles H. Spurgeon.

Psalm 75:5 (KJV) is...
"Lift not your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck."

An admonishment from God about tooting your own horn and that being a bad thing.

How "SAIRANS" might factor into that I know not.

I did notice some stuff on the new

Homepage graphic (313.JPG (Today's Date)). I see what appear to be references to Binary, Octal, Decimal and Hex in the image, but there are several symbols I don't recognise. Anybody know what they represent?

Also. I'm not able to derive anything of meaning from the page title, "The Wolf for the Father" on the homepage. And, did the Title for kunstmatig always have "Infected" as its title?

EDIT: Odd that the image link works in preview mode but not the final post.

Hm..and for the title of the page "father of the wolf", I wonder if it relates to Hugo Wolf, a composer...

Quote:
Wolf was born in Windischgraz (now Slovenj Gradec), part of a German-speaking enclave within Slovenia, to a Slovene mother (Katherina Orehovnik) and a Germanic father (Philipp Wolf). His family was originally named 'Vouks', but they changed the surname to the German form 'Wolf'. Hugo Wolf is regarded as an Austrian composer since he rejected his provincial or peasant origins and spent most of his life in Vienna, becoming a representative of "New German" trend in Lieder, a trend which followed from the expressive, chromatic, and dramatic musical innovations of Richard Wagner.

the full article on him is found on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Wolf

The image on the homepage is almost certainly an astronomical clock, see the one in Prague Old town for an example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astronomical_clock - unfortunately, I don't know how to read one of these but I would guess it gives us a time (probably early afternoon GMT tomorrow).

I haven't seen any conversation about THIS page

Which contains the image file "vfiles/VSYS402910.jpg" which references Hrunting Colony ... which is a location from the Traveller universe.

Perhaps this is a table top RP with ARGishness added.

Good catch! I was just googling "symbols" and trying to match up... ah well. Anyways - Astronomical clock, how to read. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A1043218
So I think it's saying 10:30 or 11 pm on the 16th, unless I really read that wrong. It is kinda hard to read, and also I still can't figure out how you read the zodiac part.

Hey all. Trying to jump in and get caught up. Been reading a bit, but one thing is sticking out at me. In the meantime, can I get some kind of update on what we're trying to accomplish at this point?

For some reason the title of the main page (The Wolf for the Father) bothered me a bit. It seems awfully babelfish sounding to me, so I tried translating it:

Dutch: De wolf voor de vader
Spanish: El lobo para el padre

Seems, though, that I'm getting direct translations back from the phrase, probably not the original language that was put in. (although, as a side note, I never knew that Vader was dutch for father. Too bad Luke didn't know dutch...)

What else can I help with??
