how did you decode that nonsense!? forgive my lack of cryptological know-how...but i'm trying to learn! what type of code was it and how did you recognize it?

Guys. Try copying all the text on the page and pasting it into notepad.
It'll make more sense, then.
The cipher text wraps(except for the first line) at every 58th byte.
remove the line breaks and try it in a Base 64 decoder, again.

EDIT: Someone changed the text on the page to remove the line breaks, but the spaces are still in there. Just remove them and the message will decode properly.

As for how to identify a possible Base 64 encryption, one big clue is that it'll contain only letters, numbers and the "=" symbol. No other punctuation or spaces.

EDIT: Just noticed we have a new log page for today:

It's a 2-person conversation and has a "Matrix" vibe going.
I converted the nicks from the Base 64 that is posted on the page.

EEEE! I actually found something!! Yay!

So I was looking at the Carmenta page on wikipedia

and it mentions her temple, which was next to the Porta Carmentalis in Rome.

So I looked back at the conversation we saw, which mentions the "P.C.B." being an entity that Halish is an agent for. I looked up Porta Carmentalis which is not on wikipedia, but found another page about it

which says "Porta Carmentalis: a gate in the Servian wall which derived its name from the neighbouring shrine of Carmenta."

Hrms, a gate. Interesting. Wasn't gate one of the words found in the binary behind the Veritas logo on the popup? I'm also interested in the fact that the Porta Carmentalis has TWO openings. The other one was the Porta Scelerata, or the Gate of Guilt.

I was thinking the PCB was "Preventers" something something, but now I'm thinking it's "Porta Carmentalis Board" because this seems to be some sort of regulatory agency (or board) for access to this Gate. Further, maybe they didn't know there were two openings? Maybe they only regulate one? Maybe the other is too dangerous or something...now I'm just speculating wildly.

Another new log.
This time we got a logo looking picture that seems to explain what PCB stands for, 'PARADOX CONTROL BOARD'.
Thats definantly something you'd be wanting to control with all the time travel flying around.
