Signature length So, can anyone tell me how big the Signatures are limited at, and more importantly, does it depend on # of Characters, or physical length, or what?

First of all, signatures with graphics in them are a no-no.
Second, general rule of thumb is that your signature shouldn't be longer than your posts.

Wait, wait, could you be a little more specific on that rule? Is that counting in letters (or characters even) or words ? Because, you know, in case of the former, you'd be safe, but when it's the latter, both your post and your signature contain 26 words... it's just within the safe margins but it's really playing with fire y'know

I don't have a problem with your signature length, but if you decrease the size by just one point it would be helpful because I keep reading your signature as part of your message.. Or maybe just Italics if you don't want to make it smaller.. just to stop it from blending into the actual post.

Sure! I was eventually going to get around to formatting my sig, i just didn't have time...yet.
Oh, and addlepated, your last post there was shorter than your sig!
Hypocrite!
(Oh, wait, that makes me a hypocrite too!)

Yeah but my last post clarified my position - I'm talking about the number of lines the sig vs. post take on the screen at 1024x768 resolution. My sig's only one line. My post can't be shorter than one line, so I'm safe.

Her average length per post is mush longer than her sig. If you were someone who posted one word responses and had a 60 word sig then we would have to talk.

I believe that on another forum i was on a while ago (about Lego Bionicle!), those types of people were known as spammers: The people with one word posts who were just trying to get their # of posts ranking up so they would seem more elite.

I believe there is a hard 256-character limit to the signature field. As a general rule, your signature should not have a greater vertical height than your posts. Usually this means about four lines of default-sized text, but as jamesi said, it is easier to read the boards if signature fonts are smaller and less obtrusive than posts.
