Personally, I wouldn't mind an ILB2. ILB was a hell of a lot of fun.

Well, if it is ILBees, then 42 is going about it in a .... strange... way. Plus, i mean, i didn't play ILB (i joined the genre just after it finished), but from what i've seen, this isn't like ILB was.

Could be an ILB2, but i think that if it was, it'd be...less, uh, blatant.
If you really think this is ILB 2 being put on by 42, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

Anyone can register a website, and spoofing an email can also be done with a little bit of knowledge. If you really take a step back and think about what has been said in the convos, instead of just being blinded by the Halo buzzwords, you'll see that none of this makes any sort of sense when it comes to how I Love Bees was played.

Not my post, but I felt I should step in here: 'If'. 'Could be'. Not statements of belief, rather of possibility. 'Isn't like ILB was'. 'It'd be less blatant'. Says to me the poster doesn't believe it's ILB2.

No, i don't think it's ILB, i think it's someone trying to rip off the popularity of ILB. I still think there is a slim possiblitiy (very slim!) of this being ILB2, but i don't believe it. And OmegaX? I just assumed Rowan was talking in general to all those who think this is ILB2. But thank you for your defence of my opinion Smile

TimewaitsfornooneSPLATmicrosoft.com dosen't seem to be a valid email address. If this is legit, it dosen't seem very well put together. But I have been wrong......... from time to time.....

just for one second here, think outside Halo 3 for a moment. Sure there is a chance that it could be ILB2 for Halo 3, sure there is a high chance of it being a spoof, but for one moment...has any one taken into consideration that there is a Halo movie in production?http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464037/

I suppose we could consider it, if the first thing we noticed hadn't been a spoofed e-mail header.

Oy, people. None of it's been consistent. The e-mail is spoofed, the AIM conversations refer to the Sleeping Princess, who no longer technically exists inside the ilovebees story. Remember? She and Melissa and Durga re-combined into one entity. There is no more Sleeping Princess portion of The Op to play with, any more.

Peeps in the Console section have been doing happy little dances for months now about the Halo movie. There is no tenable connection or logical reason that this attempt would be ilb2.

/me throws cookies at everyone lovingly, if a bit aggressively.

As pained as I am to see another bad attempt to capitalize on ILB's success, I am MAYBE a little sorry to see the registar wasted money on a domain and possible hosting like that.

Wait, that's just me? Oh, nm. Embarassed

If anything, this would be about the Windows Vista version of Halo 2 that's coming out relatively soon. There's actually a contest running to guess the launch date of a Windows Vista Beta version.

http://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/launchcontest/default.aspx

I do think this is NOT the continuation of ILB. And yes, ILB was the greatest game ever, but for some reason Bungie / MS never gave it the official recognition I think it deserved, and instead MS came up with some of the worst games ever with The Colony and Origen. Hopefully this isn't more of the same.

it also seems to have a "skip intro" thing as well as a hidden button.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
itsnotwhatyouknowSPLATmicrosoft.com found using tab on the flash thing.

Possibly leads to nothing, and just some random thing. It would be nice to have ilb2, but I don't think this is it.

As I recall, the first flash had the email link misspelled, but i didn't save that file to remember what it said, other than it wasn't 'microsoft.com'

Now we have this new version of the intro flash. The white-text-on-white-background email link has changed, making me think it's not really about sending an email but reading the address as a message.

For the record, I'm posting all of the messages and text from the flash file here, complete with the misspellings as written. In fact, by grabbing the flash content, I could see more lines in one message than fit in the window on their screen. Enjoy.

Well, this clearly is a puzzle... I would invite the ARG community to forget the ILB2 spoof, and try to solve this puzzle as something unrelated, just to see where it leads.

It'll also be interesting to see how long it runs... I would think MS / 42 would quickly pull the plug on such an obvious knockoff, but if it runs long enough and visibly enough, then the right holders are probably in on it. Especially Microsoft, has been talking about intellectual assets for a while... I would think ILB is part of their intellectual assett inventory and as such would protect it. Just my thoughts.

This whole thing frustrates me so much that even if I could do puzzles, I wouldn't do one for this "game". (If you can call it that.)

Now, I know whoever is behind this probably reads this message board. My advice to the guilty party (or parties) would be to quit while you're ahead. Please. Stop. ilovebees was my first, and favorite ARG. Although a sequel would be nice, I'd want it to have a lot more quality than what you've displayed so far. You know...something that appears as if some thought has been put into it. Something that honors, and upholds the original story. Something that doesn't use spoofed e-mail addresses, and nonsensical flash animations.

Even if this is supposed to be a parody...I don't think anybody's laughing.

Just...give it up. You've hidden your WHOIS information, so nobody will have to know it's you. Let this thing silently fade away. ...please?

Someone, Somewhere (not me), has spent money on this, has obviously spent time to get a flash animation like that, had always spent thought regarding puzzles and things.

Regardless of whether its a spoof, sequel or fan project, someone is putting their time and effort to make a game. Now you do not have to play this game, or regard it as part of the ILB history.

As far as your concerned you can walk away and pretend this never existed. And i suggest you do.

You have no right telling someone to abandon their game just because you don't like it, and im sure people will follow this, and would follow it regardless of ILB references.

If you dont like it, leave, noone is stopping you.

That's where I disagree with you. Whoever is behind this is going out of their way to make this thing appear as if it's official. They've spoofed an e-mail address used in the original game, they've registered the domain "ilovebees2.com" and they've put "Microsoft" e-mail addresses into their flash animations.

Now, if they hadn't done any of that...I wouldn't have as much of a problem with this as I do now. I realize they have put time and money into it. But they also have to know that if they are going to try to create a sequel to ilovebees, they have a lot to live up to.

It just saddens me to see people get excited over this thing, as if Microsoft and 4orty2wo might really be behind it.

There. I've said my part. I'll get out of your thread now.
