I have heard the term used in Hold 'Em many times. I've used the term myself. I've never used it with 2 7 offsuit -- that hand gets the designation of "The Hammer".

I will say that in Last Call Poker, Dead Man's Hand was a huge deal, and it was a Black Ace and and a Black Eight. In fact, this was the last hand the dealer was holding when the game ended. *sniffles*

I wouldn't oversell the Poker aspect of the first web page.

I pitched some stories over at Riddle. And I have a friend who was hired.

He tells me each "adventure" will last one week's time. Each features a new protagonist in a different situation. (Like the press release at the head of the thread says, it's an anthology show with different genres.)

From what my friend said, there's a story about a guy in a haunted hospital. One is a boy having an adventure across Los Angeles as he races against the man who killed his father for a long lost treasure.

This one starts with the mention of a Poker game. But we'll have to see what the story turns out to be about.

This, That and the Other

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. The extent of my poker playing knowledge comes from Rounders and Maverick. Oh, my buddy Rick mailed back with his inside track:

"The dead man's hand is Aces and 8's. And Yes, it's the same in Texas Hold 'em. Just because there are five community cards doesn't mean that you lose all those cool names."

Oh well. I was really hoping that 27 would be the sneaky clue and you'd all fall in love with me. ^_^

Oh, and I tripped up on that too, Hi. Apparently its noon CST, I was assuming Pacific. The login for the site just takes you to a solid black screen that says welcome in white letters along with your sign in (ie, it ain't live yet.) But I scoured the site again this morning, and it says that we get the first 10 clues through the email. So...I guess just wait for the ding!

Hey! Very Happy Signed up last night. Let's see how it goes.

Couple of things: First, I have the email, but not in my inbox. I have to sign in to read it. Confused
Second, have we taken a look at the horse racer on the first page? I'm still confused by that clue.

Well, I haven't read my email clue yet, so maybe that will shed more light. Cool Let's have fun!

It's Alive! Alive! Mwa ha ha! He he ha ha! Heh...*cough*

He he, just noticed. Very Happy No email, but logging in works now. I won't repost everything here, since I imagine the only ones interested in playing are going to read it for themselves. I will start us off by giving my first impression of one of the clues, though, and hopefully this is more useful than my dead man's hand speculation. ^_^

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Clue #9 reads simply PCH. Now I know a lot of things pop up on a yahoo search, but I'm almost positive this is a geography...ish riddle. Take it from someone who has Compass in their name. Smile Or not, and just ask any Los Angelian. Because any other cali girl will tell you the same: PCH stands for Pacific Coast Highway, the road that travels the beach from Mexico to Canada.

And PCH is highway number 1.

Good one, Compass! Coming from the East Coast, I never would have thought of that. Laughing

EDIT: Just found the email in my Gmail spam box. Mad I've marked it as NOT SPAM. Hopefully that won't happen next time! I still love Gmail, though. They were just lookin' out fer me. *smooches Gmail* Wink

He he, you have a point there. *lol* I'm not in it for the money, mainly because I think I'm either a) not going to win it, or b) win with so many other people that I'll only get enough for a cup of Starbucks. I really want an xbox 360, a new sintiq montior and a boob job (not necessarily in that order) but I think I'm only going to earn it the old fashioned way. Mugging the elderly.

Actually, I just heard about ARGs two days ago and am really just looking to meet new friends and find some new games to try, as they're really hard to track down. So I figure I'll post things here in spolier boxes (so that's what that button does!) in the efforts to meet people.

As long as you realize that someone may take what you have posted to win the money for themselves, feel free to post whatever answers you want. This same sort of discussion has come up in the past with any of these types of games. There is an article floating out there somewhere talking about the three different types of people who play: the givers, the sharers and the takers (my own terms since I'm too lazy to track down the article).

Bits and Bots

I have a good friend in Australia who's getting back to me on 1 and 2. I've seen mulitple answers for 1, so I'm hoping an Aussie can give us the real deal. That's also what I got for 5, though that would make it by far the simplest answer. Here's some random first thoughts on the other questions, granted its very prelim, as well as a cheat I discovered.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Question One, I've seen 6 and 8. Now there's 7. Very confusing figuring out what's a state and what's a territory! Question Four could be 2 or 9. As in "all dressed up and nowhere 2 go." It could also mean "dressed to the nines."

Also, for what its worth, I played around with shortening the addies on the site. There's a bit of shoddy craftsmanship because it worked. I only came across one file of any possible relevance. There is a text file, called egg.txt (for Easter Egg?) which when opened just says "content=Leap Year". Leap year? Does that have something to do with 29, as in February 29th? Or 366 instead of 365? We'll see. I'm sure this text references something in the flash file, or at least something originally planned, but I've only found it through this so far. Talk about leaving your back door wide open. If the preppy girl can figure that out, I shudder to think what a hacker could do.

I'm sure that guy in the video is just Jessy saying goodbye. But I agree with ItWasn'tMe...I really think we're dealing with the wife here. Look at her fancy name and schmancy clothes! Just wait till she slips up and calls me a peasant. Twisted Evil

Ok was thinking about 3--Layton's favorite Play.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
now on the video page it has his picture with "triple fours, miss you". 4*4*4=12, 1+2=3? Or am I being too simple here?

And 7--Ostrich Egg?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
0? Now that feels REALLY too simple.
