Surely unrelated, but I found this interesting:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaumont_Road

Helen's last name is Beaumont, and
Quote:
Beaumont road is a housing estate of the Leyton ward, East London.

Also, is Helen's name spelled Helen or Hellen? On the main page, where we can view her greeting video, there is one L. But her email address has 2.

Okay, for what it's worth (and I hope it's worth something), let me be clear about something.

When this thread first appeared, there began a META discussion about the statement about patenting. Seeing as how we like to keep the META separate from the game stuff, I split the thread, and all was good. We had this thread about the game, and that thread about the META stuff.

Please, please, please, do not make this difficult. Keep it simple, and post your views on the patenting hoopla there, and keep this thread directly related to the game itself. Since merging the last few posts from this thread into the META thread would make for inconsistencies in both threads, I choose to deliver this message instead.

added the spoiler for those that don't want to know what's going to happen before it happens Confused ~ varin

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The next clue is hidden at an "Opera House" in Australia (something about the Commonwealth Bank, 46 McCory(sp) Street and deposit box #(excluded for the fact that you will find out about it later today)). Oh, and she meets some dude and falls in love with him also. Not only is she ticked off at her ex but she is moving forward in her life. That's really good to know. I was sort of worried about her for awhile there. But you won't find that out until day 3. Best of luck to you all. I am dropping out due to their lack of security and my knowledge of future events. I just don't think that it's fair to the rest of you who are working so hard on this if I were to continue (even though I really don't know anything more then what I have said in here).

I make this post for one purpose: I hope that people will read this and remember what I have said. The company seems to not want to fix their problem and so I am hoping that if more people contact them that the game can be fair for all who play it. I would hate to see someone win simply based on the fact that they, in my opinion, cheated (I can only imagine what information Video 6 holds).

If they have fixed the problem by the time you read this, I will be happy because I will know that whoever wins will have won it fairly. But, until the problem is fixed, there will always be that doubt in the back of my head.

Found another treasure chest

On the "I'm not paranoid" email

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Click the bottom 2 boxes first, I don't know if this is important. Then the upper is a puzzle of the territories of Australia... very ez, and click the destination dots when you're done... try clicking Sydney and you'll find your treasure.

And it says:

Damnit, now I'm more interested in how you found this info than the game itself. Twisted Evil

You know what? I was in a chat with some buddies who were interested in this so I was throwing up different links for them to look at. Well at this newest one when I put it up I clicked on it to make sure it worked and I got a quick flash of tabs 1-6 (for videos).

From the land down under

Oh dear, that glimpse into the future is incredibly disappointing. Sad I'd made mention of the fact before that anyone with even a modicum of computer savvy, let alone hacking skill, could find out a lot. They shouldn't have uploaded content before it was to be released. And while you're right, we haven't gotten too much out of that, you're also right in saying that the game's kinda ruined for me now. For the curious, Helen's future can be seen through the following links:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.riddleproductions.com/stranger/002-Helen_Card/vd-vid4/videopage-01.htm

And vd-vid5, and vd-vid6, ecetera, ecetera...only the first one has a movie currently

Good intentions assuredly, but with a bad execution. This is still the pilot so hopefully it improves for the "tv show." (And for the record, I do like her dress.)

Well, puzzles and clues to get my mind off it for the time being. My Aussie partner in crime shot me back:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"hey you! good to hear from ya matey! okay Australian States - New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria - so officially six STATES, but there are two territories - Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory"

That seems to be in accordance with what most of us thought, and it also explains our second most popular answer. She continues to say:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"New Zealand Mainland doesn't conjure up any images of anything but sheep Smile but i'll try to help you out. NZ is made up of two main islands and a bunch of little ones, so maybe the answer is 2 - the North and South Islands??? - I'd go with that unless you're looking for their states or regions i think they are called, which there are about 12 but that ain't a single digit answer. hope that helps Wink"

Still hard at work on the fat lady/bricks/stalker puzzle. I'm assuming that if you time it just right, the fat lady's voice cracks and a brick falls on the stalker. Obviously something happens there, but I haven't been able to crack it quite yet. Same for the key/phoenix/fireworks puzzle. Its a bit frustrating because its simply a matter of order and timing (I think!) So I can only mess around with them for a few minutes at a time before I want to punch somebody in the face. Though, admittedly, that might just be because I quit smoking.

My intentions were not to ruin the game for you or anyone else who is taking the time to figure out the clues as they are given. It was to provide information regarding a standard mistake that is made by those who make contests like this one.

Another "game", sort of like this one, involved stickers that were placed all around the U.S.. Each week clues were given, via video, as to the location of a sticker located in four different cities in the United States. The videos were split into 5 days (Monday through Friday). In that game, someone found out what the future videos were called simply based on the naming scheme used by the creators. The end result was $10,000 in the guys pocket and a lot of anger expressed by those who were taking the time to figure out the clues and drive around looking for the sticker, not only for the one that was found, but by others as well.

While no "good" information was obtained from what I have seen, the problem still exists that it is possible that not closing this loophole could cause a situation to rise that could be prevented with the simple acknowledgement of it's creators to close the hole.

My hope, as I have stated, is that fair play can be had by all. But that can not be accomplished without the company taking notice that there are people who are concerned about the problem. The information that I have given was more for "evidence" of the problem then to provide anything really important. There is just enough there to peak the interest once the information is confirmed.

We are a community that enjoys these, and many, types of gameplay. As is evident within this topic, the prize is not more important then the search. So it does not surprise me that no one within these walls would be concerned about such a hole.

It is not this "game" that I am concerned about, it is the future ones. If this is not a problem that the creators feel needs to be fixed (by lack of response to the problem) then when it comes time for a "game" to come along where the prize is important to you, do not be surprised if someone wins without even putting any effort into it. Then how will you feel? Anger? At who? The person who won? The creators for not seeing the problem before it became a problem? Or yourself, for not thinking of it first? Smile

Not at all Wasnt, I completely agree with you. Smile I took your advice and mailed Riddle just now, and I'd welcome anyone else to do the same and let them know about their back doors. The quest's always more important than the grail. Besides, game designers have to look out for one another, right? West SIDE! Cough, ahem.

But speaking of that, when I was looking for their email address I found out that they're located five minutes away from me in Santa Monica. Which is right on cough*pch*cough!

Sheesh, I must be coming down with something. Hmm...WebMD says its Smugness. Razz
