[UPDATE] The Ooze Zone - 18 Aug 06 - Hush, Anna page

Quote:
Hush

Sorry for going quiet. It doesn't seem like the right time to be loud. Just at the moment, it's kind of a relief not to have the band every weekend - Crowley is still wracked off about his car, so he hasn't been coming to the sessions. Geronimo has been trying to talk him round, but I honestly don't care if he comes back or not. I don't have the energy to deal with another diva right now. There was even a part of me that found the blackout oddly calming. A forced halt. A minute's silence.

Work went crazy then, of course. Crisis talks, all-nighters. The worst thing about it all was the empty desk at the end of the corridor. Despite myself, for a split second, there was this evil, heartless voice at the back of my head cursing Anna for leaving us short-handed. Maybe I shouldn't even admit that, but I thought it...

Aiko's put up a little memorial page for anyone who wants to pay their respects.

Since the data link came online again, people have been saying that things are back to normal. Try telling that to Otto and Pip.

Anyone else suspicious of the memorial? Wink
The language is unusual. I reckon there is a message in there. It could contain a link to a website: Note the repetition of 'talk talk talk'. This could signify "www".

Or not. It may indeed just be a pretty memorial to Anna.

As an aside - stylistically, the poem (with its lily-shape) reminds me of George Herbert.

I agree. There's more than meets the eye to this picture. That along with the title of the blog post, "Hush", makes me think there's a good chance of a message trying to be communicated here.

I agree that there's probably something more to the memorial page, if for no other reason than because it's PxC. I don't know what, though. I've tried looking for easter eggs, but can't find any. I did notice that there is a missing space (between "meaningless" and "words"), but can't make anything of it.

I'm not sure how to feel about this -- part of me is hoping there's a puzzle hidden here, and another part wants this to just be a memorial to a friend. The rest of me is just trying to figure out which of those two parts is the bigger nerd.

i thought that too. i took the first letter of every word and then rotted it to check for a website address but came up with nothing.

personally as much as it'd be cool to find some hidden message from aiko or something, i think it's nice enough as it is, simple and memorial, and a beautiful tribute to anna. i feel we *should* check for stuff but dont really want to. and yes, it came up as negative in stegdetect.

i did a similar ROT, taking the first letter of each line (after Talk Talk Talk, of course), but still nothing... and an rot would have to end with .com or .org or something, matching with TTT = www. If there's something here its more complex than that.

It kinda reminds me of Homage in Glass. With the flower drooping like that. Maybe there is very small words somewhere that are notes like the card. So if the talk talk talk=www. would that make Aiko a 3P or a part in the abduction of the Cube??

Website?

I did notice that there is a missing space (between "meaningless" and "words"), but can't make anything of it.

I am thinking that "Meaninglesswords" is a clue to a website. I tried www.meaninglesswords.com and got some random blog that didn't seem connected. However, I'm new to the game, and maybe I just missed the connection. I'm trying to find other links now. (I'm at work and things some things get blocked, so I'm doing the best I can.)

I first saw this page and was going to say something looked off but I thought that it would seem pretty low hiding something in a memorial page.

And another thing

OMG. My mind is going so fast that I can't type fast enough. I have a major brainstorm that I want to get down. Something struck me about the memorial page. It's URL: "Liber Memoriarum".

In Latin, Liber Memoriarum means Book of Memories or Page of Memories. However, since this is Perplex City, I thought maybe it might mean something more. So, I googled "Liber Memoriarum" and found that it was a book written in German by Kulmer Gerichtsbuch. The actual book is entitled Liber Memoriarum Colmensis Civitatis. Since I could not find the word "Colmensis" in the dictionary, I'm thinking it is the name of a town. This title is translated Book of Memories to the Colmen Citizens. ("to" could also by translated as "of" or "by"). This got me thinking that maybe the website isn't www.meaninglesswords.com, but www.colmensis.com or something like that, but nothing came up. I'm doing more research on the book and I'll keep everyone posted.

I'm probably reading way too much into this, since it really could just be that's how Aiko wanted to name it. But, this hunting has certainly made my afternoon fly by!

Hate to break it to you, but the Liber Memoriarum Colmensis Civitatis (or "Kulmer Gerichtsbuch" in German) is just a book of records (i.e. "memories"). It paints a vivid picture of the social, economical, political and judicial life at the time (14. century) and offers a glimpse at administrations, finances and property distribution. (At least that's what the abstract claims.)
To put it another way, "Liber memoriarum" just means Book (or page) of Memories.

Sorry, Banana.

Maybe second, third or last letters...?

Tried with second, third, and last letters. Nothing legible.

That is, assuming the "talk talk talk" is "www".

Sigh. I'm going to be sad if we do find something in here. It'd be wrong to hide something in a memorial.. Sad
