Christian and Aimee

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "trout," I'm new to these (though I did read the definition on the unfiction glossary). I've been fooling around on Christian's account (don't worry, havent' made a post yet), and last night I contacted Aimee, with just a simple "How are you?" She responded with two notes, the first below (not sure how to put this into a seperate block etc):

Re: hope everything is OK
Hey Christian,

I've been well thankyou. Although extremely busy. I had an order from Central to do some peculiar research. Its quite interesting though.

How is your daughter?

and then her second reply, which now that I look at it was sent a minute earlier:

RE:Research
Oh? The research? They've asked me to scour the world's internet for maps, transport routes, things like that.

The "RE: Research" message is strange for a few reasons. First off, I never private msged her with the subject "Research" (maybe another player did?). Secondly, in Christian's outbox and sendbox there is no note with the subject "Research." And lastly, when you actually send a response to someone the subject starts with an "Re" (lowercase e) not "RE" (uppercase E), which would suggest that this is not actually a "response" to anything anyone wrote but rather something set up by the ingame people.

I wrote her back with this:

Re: RE:Research
Anissa's alright, thank you. She's worried about her aunt, but other than that she's okay. And she's getting excited about Windfall again! Think RHS can finally win it? That's odd about the research. Transport routes? What do you think they wanted to transport? Also, what do you think the official line about the village is going to be? I don't believe it one bit, if I do say so myself. I'll be interested to hear Rico's address. I'd better not say too much, though, apparently there have been some security breaches on the staff boards. Take care.

-Christian

I've also just msged Ryan with just a "how are you doing -Christian" note, and then one to Skye just asking how she's feeling (I figure we can find out if she's gotten sick from the purple fog this way). Everyone seems to me pretty tight-knit on this island (and within Immersion in particular), so I don't think there's any real danger in contacting these people. It doesn't seem like Christian himself has been logging in at all, but I've been deleting these message trails as I get them, obviously I'll post them up here before I do.

I think this Christian angle is a good one, we should keep going on this route. Anyone have any thoughts about posting on the staff boards as him?

OK...wait...did the post on the forums tell us that we could or couldn't use PM accounts? It's getting a bit confusing, but I'm not sure that PMing people with the Christian account is the wisest at the moment. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not sure, but I have sort of a bad feeling about the whole hacking into an account thing. If you do decide to keep PMing people with the Christian account, I suggest that you make 100% sure you have your story straight, these PMs seem very strict on keeping to the story

Didn't want to post this but wanted to clear up some things. The missing brother post was OOG and deleted as it was seen as a lead.

The immersion post was due to people resetting my control panel passwords and changing christians password. if a majority decides to change it, thats ok, but it IS in game and unfair on everyone if changed.

The story is ever changing depending on what is found. Thanks for playing.

Yeah I was nervous about pming people at first too so I started really slowly. Aimee responded so well, though, and gave us some new info (about the transport routes), so I figure'd I'd pursue it. I posted everything I've written - everything so far has been pretty restrained, I think.

That's too bad, that an apparent PM has to post. Kind of annoying, I wonder if we'll see Akhen again.

Thanks a whole lot, I appriciate it

I acctually suspected the brother thing was OOG, he didn't have an avatar like the rest and he didn't have a personal title thingy

and ok, Christian is IG, I apologize, I just felt that hacking into his account wasn't the best thing to do. Good job, Kenji

Do we know where the people running this thing are from? I think I'd guess Portugal...the Composer and Company were going to Lisbon when they got sidetracked, right? The PMs also often use British spellings of words like "practise," which suggests that they might have been educated in English in Europe. Also, the way they spell "Dias" is more common in Portugal and Brazil, in Spanish-speaking countries it's more often "Diaz." A lot of the other names are very common in Lusophone countries - Renata, Lucia, Rico. Also, the time of day that the PMs are posting to the Renata forums is consistent with what you would expect coming from Portugal. This also might explain why some of the English on the sites is a bit screwy ("state of address" etc). Just something that was interesting to me (I've spent some time in Portugal).

If you see my earlier post near the top of http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14089&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75
then that explains some time zone stuff. I dont know how accurate it is though.

news from aimee

Christian got a note back from Aimee today, a lot of you have probably already seen this:

Oh the village. That is sad, you have family there don't you? I was in South just days before the incident and i knew nothing about it until we were told to leave. It was lucky, i guess there was a tip off or something.

I don't know why i have to research transport routes of the world. But now i have to research food supplies. Perhaps they want to import something? Our rate of growth is astonishing. But i doubt that we would change our policy on the world just yet.

I too wonder about mr Cascade's speech. I've been moved to Central and when he has been here, he has looked so preoccupied. But he has hardly been around. Neither has mr Scarr. In fact i haven't seen much of Dias earlier.

Before i came here i was under the illusion they lived here haha! Talk soon.

Obviously, the bit about the Immersion workers being evacuated before the incident is clearly meant to be another suggestion that Immersion was somehow involved in the attack. Don't know what to make of the food supply routes yet and how this connects with the strangers on the isle.

Also, I went out I tried to contact Ryan as Christian, hoping that they knew each other previously as well, turns out they don't but he didn't seem to worried:

... Christian?

Oh your one of the workers up North?

The developers seem to be giving us a lot of leeway with the Christian account, I really don't think they'd take it away so suddenly. But don't worry, I'm not going to post as him on the staff forums any time soon.

Karin's latest post

Alright, those of you who've seen Karin's latest post, there seems to be an anagram towards the end of the cryptic passage. I'm not very good with this codebreaking stuff, but if it's an anagram "Ruin Variant" takes care of all the letters, another possibility is "A vat in ruin" which doesn't make much sense. The phrase also obviously contains the word "aura," so maybe that's something. I ran this through vignere, using the text from the book and the phrase at the end as both input and key, but I didn't get anything. Maybe someone with more experience with this stuff has some ideas?

Also using all of the letters:

A trivia nun (hah)

and

Vain at ruin

Also, something I just thought of. The first word "Uta" can be rearranged to "tua," which means "your" in Portuguese (note that "tua" is in the informal form of address in Portuguese - "sua" is more formal). The last word, "Vir" means "to come" in Portuguese, and the middle word, "Nain" could be changed around to "nina." Ninar means "to sing to sleep," so nina could mean "lullaby" or "he/she sings to sleep," or it could just be the name "Nina." Nina can also mean little girl. So then we have "your, sings to sleep (lullaby), to come" or "yours, Nina, to come." So we have "Your lullaby to come" or, more loosely, "Yours to come, he sings a lullaby," (although "lullaby" is usually something like "cantiga de ninar"). This sounds nice, but doesn't make much sense. This theory fits in with my idea that the PMs are actually from Portugal, but I doubt this is the real meaning of the message. Strange coincidence, though. I'll keep working on it.

24/02: Origins of the Eye

You know..

So many people have messaged me about my library book! I know they took an ad out to get it back, but is it really that interesting? I looked at the library slip and I'm the only person to take it out for months, so really i don't see what the fuss is about.

But it is interesting, if a little bit fairytale. People don't like these Al Khari books because they tend to go against Immersion's teachings.

But you know me, I'm open to new things. Like this for instance..

"Deep in the cave of eye rest the icy tombs of those who have seen into the core of Renata. Sealed with the seven to be opened by the one. Uta Nian Vir."

Interesting. Immersion never taught that in school.

eef

Somebody just posted to the "bad words" thread in the Free Conversation forum as Christian. A reminder: Immersion employees are forbidden from the community forum, and posting there as Christian may result in our access to his account being revoked. We may decide at some point to post as Christian, but I think only after it is discussed on this board, and then only to the Staff forum. Luckily, I managed to sign into Christian's account and delete the post, so for now there is no evidence of this slip up. No big deal - just everyone keep in mind that we really want to hang onto that account.

Hey, no problem man, don't worry about it. Just glad we caught it. We might want to seriously consider changing his password collectively, and then putting the new password on this thread beneath a little warning about posting as Christian. Just a thought. Glad to have you aboard, hyexistenz, let us know if you find anything good.
