I've gone for the "If in doubt, post" rule and asked if anyone saw the address. It was meant to be yesterday, after all

Wow I missed a lot, nice to see the thread re-opened hopefully the PMs can respect the rules from now on. If they want to pass on anymore information that isn't going to force this thread to be locked I'm more than happy for them to send me an email, I'll be getting a chance to get online a lot more again from now on (hopefully). Although it's all gone a bit quiet lately hasn't it. I never got a reply from Anissa, but I suspect that's more my fault. Anyone have any idea whats happening with the speech?

An announcement in the IC forums said he didn't show up to his own speech and was going to put it up on an intraweb soon.
Edit: Link

I'd seen that announcement about the speech, but I've only half read a lot of the posts so I wasn't sure if anyone had heard anything a little more definite. Is it just my wireless network going strange or is http://www.renata-isle.com/ just not loading?

Sorry for the delay Smile Re-watching Narnia.

Lots of reasons...I *cough* design games for a living *cough* and these fascinate me. I mean. This is gaming for everyone!

And so...it's also research. I'm struggling with an idea for one but never played one. Which is, as we all know, the kiss of death.

I fancied Perplex, but I don't know how hard it is to catch up once something like that gets going. I've heard that it's a persistent world and that's a challenge, Persistent but with a narrative...so...many narratives? (and so on)

Renata was starting at the right time.

What else are you playing?

*blush* Oh, apart from Perplex, as I should have checked in your sig Smile

Ooh! We have forum activity. Particularly interesting is a post by a user named Composer1, asking about "the cave of the eye." Could be IC, or could be some idiot screwing around. Also, Anissa posted something about intraweb trouble, which could have to do with the Immersion site being down.
Edit: The Immersion-bot made a sticky about the intraweb problems but, as usual, it wasn't very helpful.

I dunno, seems like it could be legit, just maybe...

And the cave of the eye could be a retina, n'est pas? It works, too. Retina=Renata

EDIT: I think it probably is IG, he seems to have code on his profile...

Karin's post confirms it. We have a new mystery on our hands.

Yeah, saw that, not really sure what I should do with it. I've tried ROT13 and Base64, Vingere Cipher and I've tried changing the letter ahead to corespond with the number (i.e if it says 2, move the A to a C)

EDIT: Karin says that she'll type up some of the book for me! Very Happy

Also, her page has a new (?) entry

Right, she mentions, that the Al Khari have a different story about The Eye and that they call it Amaterasu. The Al Khari didn't mention Hawton by the way.

I was looking for Amaterasu on the Web and found some info about the japanese goddess of the shinto in the Wikipedia:
Wikipedia (snippet) wrote:
Amaterasu was born from the left eye of the primordial god Izanagi while he was purifying himself in a river. She became the ruler of the High Celestial Plain (Takamagahara).

EDIT: The German Wikipedia mentiones the island of Kyūshū: (It's not Renata, but it's a nice coincidence even though it may be OOG)

Since it refers to Japan, i believe it is OOG, even though she is born form the left EYE of Izanagi Wink

Howdy everyone, I've been lurking for a bit now on the Renata threads, thought I'd jump in.

On that Amaterasu wikipedia entry there is a bit of a story about her hiding out in a cave and the other gods having to trick her into coming out, so dawn would come again. There has been a bit of cave imagery going on with the history bits posted on Karin's page and MrComposer1's posts on the Renata community boards. I'd copy and paste the snippet, but wikipedia is giving me trouble right now.

Also, as the swastika symbol thats been mentioned a few times over on the Renata community boards, the swastika isn't only a Nazi symbol. It is used frequently by Hindus and Buddhists as a religious symbol. The symbol was plastered all over temples I've seen in Asia, you can buy amulets with it on it, etc. It means eternality or something like that. If you wikipedia it, you can see where it started and what its meant. Since a Japanese Shinto goddess popped up, thought that might be relevant.

I've sent some PMs to Trinity to try to befriend her, from a "Those bloody annoying kids" perspective, but haven't gotten a response yet. I'll try for Murco, too, after I see how it goes with Trinity. Figure someone should be talkin' to the slimeballs. Very Happy

I've tried messing with that tiny blue text in the corner of the Notice board on immersion's website, but no matter what editting I do to the text, I can't get it to something readable. Anyone having any luck with that or is it likely just a time waster?

I'm confused by the history picture - as is everyone. I know it's from an old computer game. A guy at work told me which one...is it a wolfenstein game? I don't know if it has more significance than the picture on Anissa's homepage.

Also - have we tried to log in as Karin? Or log in through the blog?

Yeah, see my speculative post a few pages back:

Quote:
A few more things - in that video-gamey picture on the history page, the spaceship in the background says "R" on it, which is probably Renata, and then the guy in the handcuff's shirt has a swastika on it! Is this unintentional or what? It's really strange. It looks like an image from original Castle Wolfenstein or something.

Also, I don't know if everyone knows this already, but Al Khari is a city in the UAE.
