I dunno, probably best to send an email from the 13th site.

Poozle, I emailed them the day you posed this, and I still haven't gotten a response. Darkhuman very seriously HAS the ability to work the 13th into a SUPERCOMPUTER, just need to know if 1.4.0 is all i need, or if i need a diffrent patched version. thx!

Thanks for that, Guin. It's reassuring to know that one of the movers and shakers for the thing is aware there's a problem. Updated info would be appreciated once it's available.

Someone seems to be able to connect, since the number of clients is slowly raising, as the number of WU.

Bad thinking: anyone in the staff aiming for the prize, and reducing the number of potential winners?

Someone says: "Bad thinking is for sinners, but sometimes you're right..."

The sad part is, at the usual rate we could be at about 18M WU... Sad

Hi all I have just got a little bit of info that may help regards non running clients. It would seem chimera is switching IP and has obviously got some things to resolve. I havent heard from chimera directly but I do know the config file can be altered and will work. However chimera has not posted so I am assuming that there is a reason for this and as soon as we know anything or if we can post the ammended details I will let you know.

Sorry its not a solution but I do know the client will still run and is in some cases. I just want to await a response from chimera before posting anything.

For the record it was always agreed that any members of the team would not be eligible for the prize - as such I have always said i would auction parts off for charity if i was to find the key (having access to a network does give me a slight advantage).

On a personal note I returned from a funeral to find 40 clients processing nothing and have been unable myself to connect until I was made aware via a 3rd party the ip address change just this week. I am not posting the new config because I have had no reply from chimera to say this is okay and as such am as in the dark as most other people.

There is bound to be a logical reason for the silence and hopefully things will be resolved soon as I do not want to see a years work (it will be 1 year on the 1st April) thrown down the pan.

If anyone has any questions please PM me and i will try my best to answer / get an answer for you.

Have had an update from Chimera and he will hopefully be posting the new details soon pending any problems. As mentioned its his ISP that had the blow up, rather than the client as they have a complete new range of IP addresses.

He hasn't published this yet as he is not totally sure the ISP wont go do it again. If it stays another week he will announce the details and I will post an update to the site.

Did not mention to offend anyone, since in my life I always hope everyone is in good faith, but I know many are not.
Keep up this funny, great, herculean, good work!

Thank you all, people of the staff, and thank you for the news!

g.

Client Not Working

I apologise to all for my tardyness in replying formally on the issue and my lack of prescence on the boards. Unfortunately a real humdinger of a work issue came just at the time that my ISP decided to spontaneously change my (fixed) IP address - which you all use for the 13th Labour Server.

Guin is going to place a new CONFIG.TXT file up on the 13th Labour web site, but for those who wish to edit it, you can replace the

203.121.194.74 [hehe - this bit doesn't work and wont ever now]

with

FiFtY EIght D0t E1ghty 4 Dot Two Hundred and Two Dot Thirty Six

And all will be well.

I have been trying to get them to give me a cast iron guarantee they wont do it again - to no avail thus far. But the address has been (fairly) stable for a while - though the connection has some teething issues.

Oh - and on the totally not related work issue, http://chimera245.livejournal.com has the details - an interesting gotcha if you are in the microsoft space and your Timezone, like ours - happens to change definition

Thanks for letting us know how to get going again. I've just made the change, and it's all merrily ticking over now.

Thanks for the info chimera and I'm glad to see the number of clients and processed work units climbing again! I can see how that DST issue could consume a lot of time -- the US implemented new DST rules this spring as well, and it was like a mini-Y2K for some people.

Did we break it?

I haven't been able to collect WU since 3.09 BST this morning.

Might have been a minor glitch - I arrived to find my network processing nothing but it had only been for about an hour or so. I have just restarted a few and its collecting wus again.

I am about to post an updated file on the site for those that are needing one.

[EDIT]Theres a config file on the site and the patch and download are now updated[/EDIT]
