the website is no longer being held on my NTL account and refered through .tk

As I had the name and I am intending developing the other site i have i have got a real host and switched. It might take a while for everything to kick in but it should be sorted soon.

This means I have an email address facility too which I will set up and php capabilities

Mac-monkey, there's no plans to turn off guest posting. I reckon we'll be fine, personally.

Additionally, I'd reccomend that if you blog or post this anywhere else, you link directly to the site, that's:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/t.kirman/PXC/thirteenth_labour.htm

...rather than the .tk address. As far as I can tell, it's the forwarding page that's messing up a bit due to heavier than usual traffic.

Well done!
Now running on my Mac G5 at home.
Can someone explain how to experiment with throttle settings on a Mac. I have no idea how.

got it running, so how do you know if you have a hit? there doesn't seem to be any feedback or info once a unit has finished, seeing the results would be great

Has anyone checked any movies or tv shows for this code?

Take a look at the readme.txt file, in the same directory as the client. You'll find all the info you need in there (can't remember what the settings are off the top of my head) Smile

You won't get any feedback if a possible hit is encountered - as I understand it the webserver flags up possibles and then chimera checks them. There will be a lot of false positives...

Hey all

I realise this will be pointless for a lot of people, but I just wanted to give a quick rundown of how to get the program running the best for windows machines without destroying the usability of the machine:

1) Go to the directory where you installed the 13th labour program, open config.txt and set the bottom number to 100000.

2) Run Labour13.exe

3) Press ctrl-alt-del

4) Go to processes and find Labour13.exe

5) Right click on this process, go to priority and set to Low

This will allow you to run at full capacity of your CPU, but all other programs will override it, so your computer will run as normal.

6) Check that the process Labour13.exe has a high CPU usage when you're not playing mp3's etc (around 70-100%)

If it is hovering below 50%, you may have a dual core (unlikely you don't know this), or (apparently, had one of these today) a P4 multithreaded whatsit. In this case, download a fresh copy of it into another directory, do the exact same as above, and run both simultaneously. Hope this helps!

well i must be away for a few days. im here under stealth so the wife doesnt yell as i am meant to be getting ready for a long journey Sad

anyways. I have got the site transfered over and all is running nicely.

http://www.13thlabour.tk is the primary site and i have still got http://homepage.ntlworld.com/t.kirman/PXC/thirteenth_labour.htm up too as a back up.

I have options to mirror on the new host and when i return i will set this up with the 13thlabour.org site and if that kind person who offered php to mirror the downloads is still available i will chat on tuesday - you know who you are Smile

i know that MC have said we can contact the retailers and I think that htis is in hand with a generic email. Talking of which my host has an email account I will also be able to set up on my return. For now the gmail is the main one and i have reverted to web related stuff although I think the gmail is a great idea as it isnot reliant on only me being online and we can all chip in Smile

right must quickly merge back into the real world before i am turned into kebab meat Smile

happy cracking see you all next week - god im gonna miss all this /starts to well up (sure thats spelt wrong lol)

Just for the record...
My dual processor 2GHz G5 finishes a work unit in half an hour.
Changing the throttle setting from the default 1000 to 100000 had no effect,

Are you running 2 clients at once? I've got 2 separate installs of the client, both running at 10,000 - I suspect that makes the scheduler farm them out over both CPUs.

Tried running two clients at once this afternoon - they both run at 50 mins per work unit.

Stratman - try doing what I posted above, making sure you DO NOT just run 2 copies of the same program, and you DO NOT just copy across the directory - you need to download an ENTIRELY FRESH copy to get it to work Smile

Hope that helps.

Right, I am now adding my part to this group effort. Hopefully we will crack this code pretty soon (before we all die) Laughing .

Hmm, I think my machine must be pretty fast for this as the program has managed to complete work units on an average of less than 15 minutes...

at a 1000 throttle setting.

(I wonder how fast it will go at 10,000?)
