Mine takes about 15 minutes per WU, it all depends on the computer it is running on.

EDIT: Somehow the program just manages to use >100% of my CPU, I think that may have been a bad reading. I also managed to do a WU in 4 minutes!!! Should I be worried by that (I have a 2ghz pentium-m processor).

If this was just after you restarted the client, then no. If you stop a client before it has finished, and then restart, it will look like it has done it much quicker.

How the heck did we get 200 new clients in one day !?!

Did someone advert this somewhere with high traffic, or on TV or the radio?

Or maybe some IT puzzle-hunter installed it on ALL the computers at this workplace. If so, try not to get yourself fired over this! Laughing

Perplexcity site mentioned it directly (with link) in mass email to all registered users of their site.

We're looking into ways to let the source code out, but we have to make sure that it doesn't make things harder. For example, if a forked version of the client has a bug in it somewhere, it'll corrupt our results...

Very good point. If you guys are willing, I'd love to volunteer my services (I actually work as a software engineer).

On a completely different point: I'm using XP and a P4 3GHz machine and I can hardly squeeze more than 50 percent CPU time out of my machine. I'm almost dead certain this is because of the HT core. Any chance you guys can split the client into two threads?

I'm using two different machines. One is a AMD Athlon 64 w/1GB RAM and XP Pro. I can crank through a WU in 10 minutes almost to the second. The other is a P4 2GHz with 512 MB RAM. It takes 20 minutes to burn through a WU.

We had a host of publicity in the new PXC newsletter and there are several links on the new shiny site Smile

The actual website took 2000 hits yesterday alone Very Happy and we have had over 5000 hits in 21 days - so lets hope most of the new visitors install the client.

with the other promotional ideas milling around we should get the number of active users up substantially. Yesterday we commented that it would be good to hit 1000 by the weekend (I was being optomistic - then the newsletter went out - so a big ty to MC)

On another note - as it is getting to complicated to remember to update both my host and my original referal link (on my ntl account) I will only be updating the the main web host from now on so all traffic should be directed to http://www.13thlabour.tk. However, I will still leave the existing set up on my ntl account for emergency backups and will eventually post a single page with main downloads only and a link to the parent site on the ntl server (frankly I dont have a great deal of confidence in ntl lol). We have a mirror address with www.13thlabour.org.

Im off to party with some of the gang this weekend so any further updates will be posted on Monday.

Keep the clients running and if you see an unused PC - install it (although I would recommend you ask permission first if its not yours!!! especially at work and uni - we network admins can get tetchy when people fiddle with our domains Wink

Also any ideas for puzzles on the LJ please pm me.

I'm pretty certain you're right Smile

I'm running it on a number of twin processor machines at work (I look after them, so I won't be getting fired for it Wink ) and I got around this by running two clients in separate folders - just make sure they both get clean versions of the config files, and it should work fine and thrash your CPU properly Very Happy

On a side note, this and some other things have come up a few times now. I'm happy to put together an FAQ and guide if it's required - just let me know Smile

Thanks Flynn Smile

I wouldn't have even thought to try that, I was *assuming* that the client acted as a singleton process. I'll fire up a second client when I get home.

is that 400 new clients today? And nearly 500,000 units? i dont really understand this but yay thats good isnt it Very Happy i think its gone up by like 0.15% too....

a question... if YOU find it, will it tell the person "in charge"? and will it come up on your screen in big flashing letters (cos that would be uber cool)?

I was wondering about that too. Say someone found the correct Key, would the program tell them? Because if we found it but the program just kept on going it would be kind of pointless. Razz

But how would the client know if your key was The One?

We have no clue what the output is supposed to be. If we did, this card would be solved already. Smile
